In a four player match with my friends, I decided to play as Corrin (I never bought him, and never played as him before) just to see how broken his counter is.
90% of the attacks I did were counter and I won the match. That counter is extremely broken even after the patch.

Its called baited people into attacking so that you can counter them, plus it was 4 players so just jumping into a fight between 2 people and pressing down B is an almost guaranteed success.

There's a REASON Baiken and Hakumen are some of the hardest characters to use in their respective games, and their counters are locked away behind difficult inputs, AND have very narrow and precise active windows.
Counters are inherently very powerful, regardless of how weak their output might be. In Smash 4, they are absolutely insane. Just cause

Good players rarely use their counter because the risk is so high and it requires a hard read. Why counter when you can shield or spot dodge and punish without eating a charged F smash if you fuck up?

Its simple really, you lay off on countering for a little bit once you get grabbed, then the second you see your opponent starting to use things other than grab again, you counter them, and if your opponent tries to combo you after a grab you can just counter that too, as long as its not a true combo.

Unless you have a nair like Mario or Luigi, your best options are usually jump away or air dodge. Try to counter and you'll eat an aerial during the startup frames of counter. You would know this if you weren't garbage at the game.

Counters don't have a very long start up and this is Sm4sh, not Melee, combos are slow and generally if you have enough time to move out of a combo, you have enough time to counter in the middle of it. Maybe you should actually play the game yourself before you talk like some tourney player, or maybe you're one of those tryhards who thinks that a high win rate in FG means anything.

First off, shit hits like 8 times, each doing decent chip damage and INSANE guard damage.
Then, not only are you fucked if you block with chip, it also pushes Igniz far back enough to be completely safe, letting him do it over and over until it hits you or you jump for his free DP that does insane damage.
Second off, It cancels into itself on hit and block, letting you get MORE chip damage, MORE guard crush, and MORE meter.
Did I mention yet that this shit builds meter like crazy? because it does.
A blocked whip builds like 30% of a stock.
Now you may be asking, "but what if it hits?"
The answer is you die, because not only does the whip launch on hit, it juggles from itself, TO itself.
If you want to you can easily just open up neutral and then OCV with Igniz by doing as many quarter circle forward C's as you want.

Corrin's counter frame data looks like this Counter: 7-24 (Intangible: 6-7). 6 frames of startup is twice as slow as needed for a combo breaker.
They're a lot harder that the shit you see in Sm4sh.
You can always point out the scrub by how defensive they get over the counters being criticised. They're terribly implemented in Smash, I don't even know how this is up for debate.

With the decent people I play with, the most I get off of shine is a RPS between shield, spotdodge and roll because SDI away from shine gives Fox nothing guaranteed unless it's on like Falcon or Bowser.
Same with Falco but literally every character can SDI away and he gets literally fucking nothing save maybe a laser.
