Samus is a cute, submissive waifu who needs a strong man in her life to take care of her!

Prime 3 was held back by being a Wii launch title. I am fully convinced all of its faults are from Nintendo wanting it to be streamlined for a larger audience and including plenty motion controls.

serious question, just got to bryyo

is this game worth continuing? even turning off hints, they basically tell me everything to do and the "camera pans" for puzzles are 0% subtle in this title

Metroid Prime 3 is one of the more sub-par titles when compared to its own series, but stands head and shoulders over the average game nowadays.

Because it was rushed in a worse way than 2 (compromised design instead of cut content) and they likely wouldn't make the dame mistake again.

Skytown is cool, if a bit boring.
Final area has DEEP LORE.
The rest really isn't worth it.

It's not a launch title though. Plus, there are barely any forced motion control sequences. The pointer is used not just fine, but better than a second analogue would do.
It's a good game, it just lacks some of the exploration elements of the Metroid series.

If you enjoyed the first two you'll still have a good time with Corruption. Sup Forums over-exaggerates everything.

Even mediocrity is a step up from MP2

Corruption was the best of the trilogy. Come on guys.

>Halo Effect 3 Cinematic Edition being better than the masterpiece which was 1
this is one bait i wont let stand

the only good prime game was the first one, and it was slow and the combat sucked.
there hasn't been a good metroid game since super.

Good post. Why are prime fags so retaeded?

t. gen x

Only the beginning of Corruption really has any resemblance to Halo.

All Prime games are just a rip-off of Halo

Because Other M and Federation Force were even worse. That being said I'm pretty sure most Metroid fans would prefer another classic 2D entry in the series over anything else, given how long it's been.

>over-exaggerates
opinion discarded

I read from an article a long while ago that it's linearity was forced on it by Nintendo. That said, it's still a good way to wrap up the Trilogy, even if it is the weakest Prime game.

Oh, you are that guy. Thread is kill.

implying that isn't true

There is nothing wrong with this

Don't be that kind of retard.

Prime 3 is piss easy compared to 2. It's obvious they didn't want to make it too hard for the casual Wii crowd. Hyper mode just makes everything a breeze.
It's still a great game, though the definitive Metroid prime experience is 1 and 2 on the GCN.

the real question is why anyone wants another prime game after seeing tanabe's vision for the series

anyone expecting a return to form is going to be in for a rude awakening

prime 4 is going to double down on the lame star wars shit

Nope, better turn it off.

Aah yes the old 2D purist. Who has undoubtedly never touched the original and especially not 2.
Because fucking nobody has.
I'd like to take a random group of "Metroid fans" and ask them to identify the Metroid's natural stages of evolution. I doubt most people would even know that the Omega Metroid is a Metroid.

THIS IS ALL NEO NINTENDO GAMES
THEY HAVE NO DIFFICULTY
NOR FUN IN THE GAMES ANYMORE
NO MORE SECRETS
EVERYTHING IS ALREADY FIGURED OUT FOR YOU
FUCK NEO NINTENDO

Japan hasn't made a good Metroid game since Zero Mission.

We will never know what the fuck red Phazon is.

id say the series stopped being good with the introduction of ZSS

I hate that Zero Suit over shadows the Varia Suit. Seeing her with the suit off was the slice of cake after a hearty meal of a game. But only eating cake will make you sick.

Oh God, not this bullshit again. You get BTFO every time you bring that crap up, and the thread is completely derailed to the exception of all else. Yes, the Zero Suit is silly and dumb, but it has NOTHING to do with the series drop in quality or really, REALLY stupid game mechanic implementations (when IN the normal Power Suit). Other M's writing is its own level of stupid.

Just fuck off already.

its just that you can draw a dividing line of 'before zss' and 'after zss' for the drop of quality in metroid

it wasnt the fault of ZSS itself but just occured at the exact moment

This
Just look at the commercial, they were very clearly trying to get grandmas and soccer moms to play it.
youtu.be/6kdAaGczvws

>sakamoto saw all the submissive porn of samus and thought that was what the fans wanted

It was still better than Echoes

Third person over the shoulder survival horror Dead Space style Metroid game when? Please include zero suit stealth sections.

you say that like it's an accomplishment

echoes is the videogame version of wading through mud

yeah it got to be a chore and tedious repeititon "get 3 keys, go temple, kill boss. get 3 keys, go temple, kill boss." etc but it did have the same feeling of isolation as mp1 did

what else really went wrong with echoes?

Prime Trilogy's versions of 1 and 2 are much better than the GC versions, dual analog control sucked with the C-stick.

If they make another Metroid game then PLEASE, PLEASE let Kenji Yamamoto be the composer. He wasn't in Other M. The games just aren't the same without his music.

classic metroid is dead

splitting a niche ip up between two groups that never interact with each other was a mistake and i wouldn't be surprised if you only saw prime games from now on

>mp3 beginning
>action sequence
>it was literally like star wars music playing almost orchestrallike
i knew itd sunk to a new low, it was nothing like the mp1 escape theme which was probably the only action-y track in the ost

He shared audio credits with two other dudes on Prime 3. The last game he composed by himself was Prime 2 and the music for that was brilliant all the way through.

yeah music was a high point of mp2

>nintendo fans beg for more metroid
>judging by the sales figures, they don't actually buy metroid games

>nintendo makes a metroid game
>its crap/shitty/spinoff and we dont buy it
>oh i guess you guys dont want metroid games then

ITS NOT FAIR

at least there's a practical reason for not getting prime 4 (too expensive)

the reason we can't get a new 2d metroid is because sakamoto is still butthurt that people didn't like other m

user you give that game more credit than it deserves by even calling it Metroid, there was virtually nothing Metroid about it.

It's as popular or even more popular on Sup Forums than Prime is now.

You've clearly never played the Gamecube versions.

well to no surprise its the dark souls 2 of the MP series

Suckamoto is like George Lucas only he probably won't ever sell the rights to the series.

The Trilogy version has vastly better controls but the lore rewrite is dumb.

Plus they softened the casual filters in the trilogy version of 2 which wasn't OK.

Great game that's unfairly hated on? Yeah, I agree.

Once upon a time we got a 2D and Prime game in the same year.

As opposed to Prime which is

>go here
>now go here
>now here
>now here
>now here

they're the fucking same

more like

an average sequel people defend with their lives BECAUSE:
>its the first installment they played (most likely)
>they enjoy it because its less popular, thus avoiding a mainstream opinion
>for no reason other than its trendy to hate on a series' first installments (see pokemon gen 1/2)

You could fucking summarise any game with that. Dark Souls? Pfft, go here, go here, now there. OoT? Just go here, now there.

Orchestral music is nice for fantasy series like Zelda. Metroid should have electronic music, with a few exceptions like lower Norfair.
youtube.com/watch?v=m3KtzmDGIeM

Prime 2's soundtrack is a really close second place just behind one. Heck tons of the tracks in 3 were just remixes from 2.
youtube.com/watch?v=hwjcq8Vwt24

That doesn't sound like DaS2 at all though. Comparing Metroid to the Souls games doesn't really work that well.

Ooh, yes please

He doesn't have to sell it, for God's sake just let Retro do it again. But only if Andrew Jones is involved. His concept art was a major driving force behind those games.

100 million people bought a Wii. Many of those were new to gaming so Nintendo/Retro compromised to accommodate for people who had never played a Metroid game before.

NEWSFLASH: The world doesn't revolve around you.

>for no reason other than its trendy to hate on a series' first installments (see pokemon gen 1/2)
That's not a good comparison, older pokemon games are mechanically inferior.

>look at me look at me

fuck off idiot

I don't know about a stealth section because that implies nerfed controls. Maybe just a different play style or at least an alternate costume.

Nice counter-argument faggot.

Metroid was one of Nintendo's more mature IPs.
That's by Nintendo standards of course. They always let Metroid get away with a higher difficulty (see original) and a little violence (see Crocomire's death).
It's a shame to see the series go from balls hard as the original to flail your hands in front of the t.v. There are even multiple difficulty settings, they could have implemented one that was actually difficult. Veteran is about as hard as normal in Prime 2.

YESSS Andrew Jones. He designed the Space Pirates, the Parasite Queen, the final boss, a whole load of other things. He was probably the most respected guy on the team. Here's his website:
androidjones.com
I don't know if he'd come back for another game though.

Nintendo care so much about metroid they shut down the only good game the franchise has gotten in almost a decade

Another Prime game would be nothing without him. His bizarre creatures and art style game the games such a unique organic look. Even Samus' suit looks organic in a lot of pictures.

Gen 1 Pokemon is legitimately bad mechanically compared to later series though.

2D babbies are the worst aspect of any fanbase, I've never seen 2D Metroid or Zelda fans do anything but shitpost

It's not an argument.
If you don't like Prime then you're not a Metroid fan.

It's just the vocal minority, most want a 2.5D Metroid 5, which is far more likely.

>prime 4 is going to double down on the lame star wars shit
It's why I'm happy that Federation Force bombed, we really don't need anymore Prime, what Metroid fans need is Metroid 5 in 2.5D.

Another Prime, 2D style, something new. I don't care. I just want another good Metroid game. Though honestly I don't trust Japan to do so. Modern Japanese sci-fi sucks.

Because something akin to Prime 1 would be a million times better than NEW SUPER BOMB EVERY TILE-TROID: THE BABYENING.

If they ever do a Metroid 5 I really hope they don't keep the Fusion suit. It served its purpose and I don't mind it in its game but she just looks so much better in the Chozo armor.

This

MP3 is still good.
Just weak compared to MP1/MP2

So sick of baby jokes.
It's the go to comment for people who don't know the series.

If any of you want to read the really interesting history of Retro Studios, check this out:

uk.ign.com/articles/2004/12/18/a-retrospective-the-story-of-retro-studios

Basically the story of how the Metroid Prime crack squad of highly talented artists, programmers and designers came to exist, and the amount of stress that came with it.

IDK, EPD Production Group 7 showed that they knew how to make 2D Metroid games with Fusion and Zero Mission ignoring Sakamoto's last minute stealth section for horror. So I'm pretty fine with a traditional style Metroid game from them, Prime on the other hand been going down this Star Wars direction, makes me wish that Prime 2 was the last Prime game.

Because the first two were worth it.

The game gets a lot better after you arrive on Bryyo. But there is always a condescending air around it.

At the very least finish Bryyo so you know what the rest of the game is like.

No it won't Prime only even sold because of the GameCube bundle and the 2D games in general have always been better than all of Metroid's 3D entries. As far as I'm concerned it's time for the series to return to it's roots, 3D hasn't been working since the start. Nintendo really should have looked at Mario 64 and Zelda OOT for inspiration on how to make a 3D Metroid game.

>for people who don't know the series

I'm sorry, maybe you fucking missed the part where I wholly critiqued modern Nintendo and Metroid in general, so let me break it down for you:

NEW - Modern Nintendo would cut every conceivable corner on a series that hasn't sold or been received well, rather than giving it the TLC it needs.

SUPER BOMB EVERY TILE-TROID - An absolute, scathing remark towards the outdated 2D games which have some awful combination of linearity OR unintuitive methods of hiding item upgrades (as a limitation of the 2D display method) and the fanbase that jerks them off. 3D has far more interesting puzzles and combat, an organic means of conveying Metroid's story.

THE BABYENING - Which refers to a story arc that REALLY should have ended with Super, but was stupidly used in Other M in an ill-conceived attempt to humanize and weaken Samus for her prequel role.

So fuck you.

I liked Rundas and felt bad for him.
He had a pretty brutal death scene too.
Ghor was a prick and I knew Gandrayda had to go when she calls her Sammy.
youtube.com/watch?v=6nMFLquJeCc

>No it won't Prime only even sold because of the GameCube bundle
It's the best selling game in the entire franchise

> Nintendo really should have looked at Mario 64 and Zelda OOT for inspiration on how to make a 3D Metroid game.
They did and that's why it worked.

As much as I think a new 2D game is sorely needed, 2D purists need to fuck right off.

Other M needs to be retconned

My main issue with Corruption is that it throws away the feel of the original Prime; you're not exploring a large mysterious planet, you're not isolated, and in large part it's really a more conventional sci-fi shooter. Guarding some cargo from a group of enemies while mission control talks to you just doesn't feel like the first Prime.

2 also had some of this problem, the ammo system was definitely an attempt to make it more "actiony."

Given that it retcons just about every other game in the franchise, it kind of already is.

Despite sales, Prime 1 worked spectacularly. It was 2 and 3 that messed things up, and I guarantee that a state-of-the-art 3D game with attention to detail and good game design bones will appeal more and sell more copies to modern audiences than a 2D game.

>It's the best selling game in the entire franchise
I guess someone has reading comprehension issues, it only sold that well because it was bundled with the GameCube, if those bundles didn't exist it would've sold less than any 2D game, Prime games that came after are a clear indication of that. 2D fanbase is bigger than the Prime fanbase face facts.

>by being a Wii launch title.

It wasn't a launch title though.

It came out over nine months after system launch.

But yeah, they obviosuly wanted everyone to be able to play. "And hey, if we can then also get some of them Halo fanboy in here, that wouldn't be bad."

>They did and that's why it worked.
No they didn't they try to cater to the FPS crowd with a game that didn't even play well as a FPS. and Prime fans need to fuck off, all you do is bitch, your series been downhill since the second Prime game and now one of your Prime game's bombed. The Prime formula's been overused while the traditional series has been dormant since 2004, it's time for Metroid 5.

Metroid Prime is like Halo Wars, it should have just been one game.

Metroid Prime 3 sold better than every other game in the franchise besides Prime 1 and the original.

It's not worth splitting between the 2D and Prime fanbase in this fashion not only because the sales gap between them is so small it's almost nonexistant but also because despite the noise you petulant babies produce in shitposts like these they're largely the same thing.
