SO YOU KNOW HOW NO ONE LIKES ESCORT MISSIONS?

SO YOU KNOW HOW NO ONE LIKES ESCORT MISSIONS?

SO WHAT IF

JUST WHAT IF

WE TOOK THAT

RIGHT?

WE TOOK THAT

AND MADE A WHOLE FUCKING SERIES BASED AROUND IT?

And it fucking worked.

But that's not what it's based on at all.

And get good games?

I do not see the problem here.

What's it based on then?

I've only played Dead Rising 1, but you can get the true ending in that without saving anyone. The escorts are just for PP and the achievement.

Not on photoshopped 3dpd dykes

Not true, Isabella needs to be escorted multiple times throughout the game.

Hnnngggg

Why was DR3 so terrible?
Was it casuals?

It's a timed survival game with mostly optional side escort missions.

>mfw the third game completely nerf the time mechanic
>mfw the fourth game wont have the time mechanic at all

Why does any game series fall to shit? It's always casuals.

>yfw time mechanic for 4 will be DLC

DR1's escorting sucked massive dicks, 2 managed to make the survivors not retarded.

Pretty much. At least in DR2 you had to take some time to explore before you found the most overpowered combo weapons, they were practically stuffed into your inventory from the start in 3 (not to mention the ability to choose your level up stats).

>Weapons locker
>Loltime
>Perk for crafting anything extremely easily
>Collectibles instead of interactables and minigames

Don't you even fucking joke about that.

DR1 made by japs
DR2 made by canadians with head jap over seeing it
DR3 made solo by canadians

>People continuously complain about the time mechanic
>They don't realise that DR games are meant to be played through multiple times
>They don't realise that the timer adds an element of tension to what would otherwise be a fairly safe experience
>Every time they reduce the influence of the timer or replayability aspect of the games, they get worse

Ive always wondered if they actually had his eyes open like that or if that was some sort of make up.

I'm so sorry.

THANKS CANADA

Allow me to correct my statement, it's always casuals and moosefuckers.

I keep seeing this, has anything been confirmed for 4?

They're easy ones though, and it only happens like twice. Unless you count that part in overtime mode, but it's hardly an escort since nothing attacks her.

God damn I have PTSD from that. Hand holding is by far the worst mechanic from 1. I don't even care about the broken survivor AI, whoever made hand holding needs to be shot.

Dead rising is really fun.

Rest in peace Leah... damn technical.

Everybody likes time limits!

I could never comprehend how people like these games. Constant timed escort missions designed so I can't explore and have fun.

You think a game without challenge is fun user?

Except you absolutely can, the story and side missions are optional.

The point of the games is to explore on your first few runs to get used to the layout and the time restrictions, then restart at the beginning with more knowledge and health/moves. You aren't meant to get everything or even beat the story on your first try

Except you can. You just need to do the escort missions if you want to level up fast, but there's nothing stopping you from exploring pretty much every inch of the world besides your lack of skill.

That's what pisses me off most about 3 and 4. In the originals you could CHOOSE whether to challenge yourself or dick around, but casuals couldn't figure that out apparently. In the new ones there's no actual challenge so dicking around is the only part of the game.

The only thing forcing you to do the escort missions is your autism

>Dead Rising 1, 2, and Off The Record HD are $20 each
>Meanwhile Skyrim HD is $60 as if it's a brand new game

how did we reach a point where Capcom is less Jewish than Bethesda

At least the escort missions were a breeze on DR2. Survivors weren't dumb as pig shit and could actually defend themselves.

DR1 flashback time
>Constantly spamming "Come on!" while survivor runs forward 3 feet into the nearest zombie crowd and stands still
>Give them great weapons and they do nothing
>They die in a couple of hits
>FRANK!!!! HELP MEEE!!!!!
As opposed to DR2

>Survivors follow closely behind you at all times unless you weave your way through a huge crowd of zombies without stopping
>Given even a half decent weapon they can easily defend themselves

That fucking book in the first game that you don't get until near the end, and barely does jackshit to help their AI.

And the fucking book in the second game that you can get right when you start, but is totally unnecessary because the survivors could hold their own already.

The major issue with the timer is that, especially in 2, they could have done better to space out the rescues. Every single night ends with you juggling 4 events with half an hour left before they expire, and then the next morning you have literally nothing to do for five hours before missions start activating at noonish.

>tfw always beat Dead Rising 1 without rescuing anyone

Feels fucking great.

I learned to love the escort missions when you gave each person a gun. In fact, I made it a point to bring survivors with me to the boss fights. They made it so easy.

Is 4 going to be good bros?

Do survivors get infinite ammo?

No, it's going to be garbage.
And casuals are going to love it.

>no PS4 version even though XBoner and PC sales combined wouldn't add up to a PS4 version's sales
no

As someone who just recently played 1 - 2 back to back, I have to say DR1's AI aren't nearly as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Don't spam the follow me button otherwise they continuously stop and re adjust. Also abuse the fact that leaving an area resets an area.

Wait, there ISN'T a PS4 version? I thought the fact they just released the others there meant they had fucking gotten their heads out their ass?

Hey, I'm the small chainsaw. I make every weapon in the game completely obsolete! Just stock up on a couple and grab the 3 books to increase durability and you'll completely breeze through the game with no challenge at all.

I don't recall. I think they do. IIRC I used to use a gun until it got down to 1 bullet, then give it to them because they would have unlimited ammo.

DR1's ai is fine, you just need to get them to safety with waypoints and clear some paths for them.

DR2 is fucking mindnumbingly boring because you can roll around town with a crew of survivors and a fucking tiger just mowing down everything that moves.

>Give assault rifles to survivors
>I am now the one being escorted

E Z MODE

Enslaved was one entire escort mission

>still no mod to make the survivor AI in DR1 not so shit

ONE. JOB.

>implying the AI was the problem as much as the timers on every single thing

Why are fucking leaves so bad at making entertainment? I never really bothered to follow leaf devs, but what little I've seen are always shit, and leaf shittery is a meme on Sup Forums.

Easiest way to tell if someone's a casual pleb is if they complain about the time limits in DR1 and 2.

Especially 2, because the time limits were WAY more lenient, but "i just wanna kill zombies mooom"

It makes escort missions work by

A) Letting you equip them with upgraded weapons, to give them an edge in combat
B) Being lighthearted and comedic enough that losing one or two escorts is rarely a tragedy
C) Making most of them optional, and having a persistent game timer, encourages you to not try super hard to keep everyone alive. You can if you want to, but you probably have more important shit to do soon, so if not fuck it and move on.

That is the key that Dead Rising gives you: "Fuck it." No matter how bad things are, no matter how asinine the AI is being, you always have "Fuck it". And it's a lot of fun.

Too bad they never made a Dead Rising 3.

>implying the tight time limit in 1 wasn't one of the reasons why it was so fun

Don't spam Y/Triangle and give the survivor a decent weapon. Boom, now the AI is 80% less shit.
The timer was not an issue. And if you really hated it, you could ignore all the missions altogether and fuck around until the time runs out.

Here's a tip for people struggling with the times: Do the story missions first, then do the escorts that are nearest to you and work your way to the safehouse grabbing survivors on the way. Make sure to equip them with good weapons and not to spam call for them because they'll keep stopping. Only do that if they get stuck on something to reset their pathfinding. If they're super low on health give them plenty of orange juice.

There is a PS4 version coming a year after it comes out.

the game goes on whether you do the main objective or not. also some people actually like a challenge in their game. on that note you have so much time in these games it isn't funny. you have more than enough time to do all the side objectives with the main story, with getting lost, with dicking around you will still find yourself killing time to advance. another thing some people like besides a challenge is reward. you know when you beat the games you get overtime mode and get unlimited time to fuck around?

how is it any different? I only ever played 1 & 2 but was thinking about trying 3 or 4.

I wonder if they're going to bother releasing DR3 on PS4 as well?

I never played it, but putting zombies in a mall or a casino is darkly funny. Putting them in a brown city is like every other game I've ever played in my life.

Now with Dead Rising 4 they've upgraded to a gray city.

SO YOU KNOW HOW EACH VIDEO GAME HAS DIFFERENT GAMEPLAY ELEMENTS?

SO WHAT IF

JUST WHAT IF

I FUCK

RIGHT?

I FUCK OFF

AND FIND A GAME THAT CATERS TO MY SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE I-WAS-BORN-'95 NEEDS?

Wasn't DR1 originally xbox 360 exclusive?

I think Microsoft had a deal with Capcom to make DR3 Windows exclusive

There was going to be a PS3 version but got scrapped midway development also it got a Wii version which was utter shit

Atelier also suffered from the loss of time limits. Sophie's reintroduction at least made it so you knew when shops restocked. And Firis does use a time limit.

The time limits are so lax in 3 they may as well not be there, they removed them completely in 4 allegedly. Combo weapons became way too overpowered, some allowing you to wipe out whole streets of zombies in a second. Basically anything that made the original 2 in any way challenging was removed and the game essentially became sandbox mode only.

Actually 3 was a bit of a greenish gray, 4 looks mostly blackish.

Did you think that was unintentional? The game would be way worse with your proposed change, there needs to be periods of high and low challenge. Otherwise the game is always either boring or exhausting.

Did they really try to make it an exclusive or was the PC version always planned just behind? I noticed it took a year for it to come out on PC but 4 will debut on both.

>babies complain about the time limit in DR1 and 2
>big thing about them is that you are allowed to fuck up a case, explore and get a feel for the areas and if you're so adamant on finishing you can restart with your leveled character and know what to do and what's located where
>now it's being dumbed down even more because retards don't like feeling the "pressure" of having a time limit.

Leave and never come back.

>complete the game s tier
>doesn't unlock unlimited time mode
I just want to explore the mall without being hounded by quests
REEEEEE

eh fuck that. I'll just play 1 and 2 again.

>DR1
>AI many times cannot correctly pathfind their way through a fucking doorway
>completely tard out on the ledge to the vent leading to the security room, takes an agonizingly long time for them to get up sometimes
>will sometimes stand in place for no reason, have to set another waypoint or issue a command to get them to stop being retarded

It's garbage with a capital G familia, that's not even debatable

Didn't DR3 have a BLOODY SCREEN health system too?

pretty much this. I'll be honest I was against it at first but decided to rise to the challenge and I found out the time limits were more than extremly generous.

I honestly believe most people who shit on 1 and 2 are casuals who got intimidated by the idea of the time limit imposing on how they play and dropped the game before even really trying it out. (If they did actually play it and still complain about the limits then they are beyond casual).

>During the treatment, Alex is attached to an apparatus that holds his eyelids open while he is forced to watch the movies. This is actually performed without special effects in the film. The doctor administering eyedrops to Malcolm McDowell onscreen was a real doctor, yet the clamps on McDowell's eyes scratched one of his corneas and temporarily blinded him.

>Bitch and moan so much about the game now being what they wanted that the series completely changes to appease them

Are "no time-limit, no escort" cucks literal cry babbies?
Just don't play if you don't like it. Goddamn.

bring back tj rotolo

>DR1 had survivors as dumb as bricks that would either run into walls or just stand there
>DR2 had fearless motherfuckers who would charge through zombie hordes like bulldozers

no dr4 has that and a regen system and no escorting and best of all weapons now come in 3 varieties melee gun and gernade no more throwing melee weapons either

Off the Record has a sandbox mode. And your health doesn't constantly deplete like Infinity Mode!

dude the demos have no time limit, and the dlc confirm the soft reboot was just to deage frank and have him not been bit at willamette in dr1 but dr1 still happened 13 years ago yet he is 30 in this game so how was he there?

A fucking leaf
Everytime

Kindell never uses his shotgun unless im in the way

Yeah but 4 is Frank returning to Willamette after being tricked by his protege, it's a good chunk of the mall + the city

Dead Rising 3 can't even pull cool points like that

to bad they ruined it by making him to young to be at willamette the first time

No kidding. It's not like there isn't a million other mindless zombie kill games out there they could play.
