ITT: You deserved a sequel

Post games that deserved a sequel, but never got one.

Starting with this piece of gold.

>Never ever

There is a severe shortage of good warhammer related video games out there. I have no idea why.

Warhammer is for super nerds

Considering the story planned for the second game I glad they didn't. It sounded pretty retarded. But a another game with the similar gameplay would be nice.

I'm not one of those WH40K purists that hated the game for having inaccurate space marines. But man the feel of this game is just right, the gloom, the despair, the death.

They could literally invent any conflict and it would work.

Because Games Workshop is retarded

Because Games Workshop is megajew about letting people work with their IP. It hasn't done them much good, since the majority of WH40K games have sucked, but that's just how it is.

they used to give out their ip to any shit developer resulting in alot of crap games
gladly that has changed recently

I demand a combination of Space Marine and DA:O that is the squad based rpg that we were promised long ago.

True suffering

You need to really level up before 40K is your jam.

>They could literally invent any conflict and it would work.
This. This is what I mean. A sequel could be set anywhere, any time and it would play well. They just need to fix their stories.

Thats why one would expect good games

Video gaming is a nerd hobby and so is wh.

I am still mad

I just want a W40k game where the protag isn't a space marine.
I'm sick of playing wannabe Buzz Lightyears.

I know it's not 40k but you may want to check out Mordheim: City of the damned

For a Mordheim fan i've basically been waiting my life for this to exist, it's fun and tooth-kickingly hard as fuck sometimes

Warhammer is nerd on an entirely different level than video gaming.

You want the actual reason, the REAL reason?

Because Games Workshop are notorious skinflints. They jack up their prices on models, paints and rulebooks every single year. The quality also keeps taking dives. They make their product shittier but raise the price, and they do precisely the same with all their games.

They sell their license to whoever can make them the cheapest deal. The inexperienced companies, the indie devs. Anything to save a penny, no matter how shit the outcome is. And whatever is shat out they also price in the range of 40£ or more.

They have ABSOLUTELY no qualms about how this reflect on them as a company or their franchise, as long as the money keep rolling. And I think they've figured out that the die-hard warhammer fans will buy anything regardless of price tag just to get some cockney meme orks and spess muhreens.

It probably sounds cynical and jaded, but seeing as it's absolutely true, consider who's the most cynical and jaded here. Me for telling you how it is, or Games Workshop for actually doing this.

It's mostly because GW have been throwing out its 40k license to every no-name developer under the sun like a $5 whore with herpes instead of giving it to more experienced and worthwhile developers. It's not all bad though, we at least got Deathwing and Regicide out of the deal, as well as a few other games.

The story was meh, but goddamn was it fucking fun. Busking on the side of the road for cash so I could upgrade my GODDAMN ROBOT.
The world was cool, the characters were cool. I loved it, bruh.

I remember being hype about a ps3 sequel yeard ago, whatever happened to that??

>die-hard warhammer fans will buy anything regardless of price tag just to get some cockney meme orks and spess muhreens

More like they'll buy it because GW changes the fucking meta every other week, so you're dumping hundreds unless you want your army to get fucked in the ass constantly. Not even Wizards of the Coast is on that level of jewishness.

My pitch to you.

Gaunt's Ghosts - The Sabbat Crusade.

Take Splinter Cell Blacklist and add 40K. Imagine how amazing things could get. Especially if, instead of swapping out equipment, you swap out your class. Scouts, Troopers, Specialists, Gaunt himself, Lijah Cuu as a cut-throat, Bragg as a heavy.

HNNGGGGG.

DoW1,Space marine, Battlefleet gothic, final liberation and a few other are good, rest is Iphone trash or shovelware.

>That new option to speed up AI turns

Thank you Sigmar. The Undead warband is ok too.

maybe if you play console level garbage like sports titles, shooters, and EA/Ubisoft games on the regular

fuck off my board normie

This is the absolute truth. My friend and I started this hobby in 08, we had a ton of fun. But we just could not afford to increase our armies to any meaningful size. After awhile, it just got to be ludicrous, we'd spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on these fucking pieces of plastic and it still wasn't enough to really surprise one another. We knew all the models we had and didn't have, so eventually it just became either him or me winning 90% of all games.

We stopped playing entirely by the time Tau 6th edition came out. There was just no way to keep up with the game, prices became insane. I wanted to buy some Centurions, but $82 for three fucking plastic men? I wanted to buy a Riptide, but $85 for a single model? I don't know who still even buys these. It's not a tenable hobby.

GIVE IT TO ME.
I'LL SUCK YO DICK.

Replaying this game is amazing.

GW doesn't actively invest in using the IP for video games. And they used to be highly protective of licensing it out after getting burned by SSI back in the day.

So most of the stuff we get is relative nobodies getting the license for cheap and pumping out some shitty game. Only recently have we had some actual decent stuff like BFG, and the upcoming Deathwing.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poncotsu_Roman_Daikatsugeki_Bumpy_Trot_2

2011 earthquake and tsunami forced the company to kill all nonessential projects and a quirky RPG about dieselpunk robots and open world wandering wasn't high on their list of objectives.

Admittedly the story wasn't amazing but it had some fun twists and turns and just this afternoon I spent an hour progressing the story and then started dicking around with billiards.

nothing quite like playing in a church for pity money so you can upgrade your giant robot car to take over a gang of bandits.

When was the last ghost published? I think it was around 2011 I can't belive it has taken him 7 years to write another. Also I mean come on a group of guardsmen taking out a space marine?

How about a total conversion of BF1 into the Death World of Krieg, home to the Death Korps of Krieg (that pile of shit DICE served up might as well be good for something)
Imagine a never-ending planet-wide scale version of World War 1 with imperial guard weaponry fashioned in the style of WW1 gear.
Riding into battle on modified gene-steeds and fucking people up with your las-saber and bolter with flesh-melting gas raining down on you.

Sounds dope, I'd play it.
I really really really want an Ork game though.

Warhammer is not even close to the super-secret hardcore 'only neckbeard's from Grognardia may apply' shit you seem to think it is.

Warhammer/GW stores are on most high-streets and warhammer shit is sold in most model/hobby shops.

Not only that it has a fuck ton of random games on every system or device, it's referenced in papers and comics. it's also THE tabletop game everyone and their mother references other than DnD. The actual tabletop/hobby shit isn't for everyone but it's not at all obscure.

...

...

Never seen this one discussed, but I quite enjoyed it. I might have to replay it, because I remember very little in the way of details.

...

He's working on Marvel movies at the minute, and the Ravenor vs Eisenhorn trilogy.

Also, Guardsman regularly take out Chaos Marines. The Ghost's in particular excel at it in the later stories.

Hm, not sure how an Ork game could realistically work.

It was decent on PSP, it was horrific on DS.

I was a DS guy in the day, but it looked so vastly superior on PSP it isn't even funny. One of the only games that kept my PSP in common use for a while.

A stealth battle where everyone is hunting eachother in a jungle

orks vs humies

Snikrot for warboss

Bulletstorm.
Eternal Darkness.
XIII.
Fear 2 deserved a competent third chapter.

...

Posting this shit because we all want TS4

But we'll never get it

We will never see Captain's Tidus' brethens from the Ultra Marines rescue him from the Inquisition.

How about a game like Jagged Alliance 2? Play as a Catachan seargent and recruit other Imperial Guardsmen to liberate a death world from a governor and his army that went rogue.

Fear 3 was the last game I purchased full price day one. It's not entirely a bad game, but a point based co-op shooter isnt what f.e.a.r. is

For what it was, this game was excellent. Pity that the Blood Bowl handhelds were so shit.

Let's hope Sanctus Reach turns out okay-er than that turd that's WH40k - Armageddon.

I still don't know how they could fuck up the Panzer General formula.

Make it on a $10 budget and it for $60 a copy and the licence is yours

>Captain's Tidus'
Someone post Space marine Wakka

You got it overlords. As soon as you price your figures per cost per production and not on in-game use and you release one all encompassing base rule set that you'll sign a contract guaranteeing it won't be altered for 6 years.

>so many amazing settings in the Warhammer Universe that could be used for games
>Catachan Vietnam War with dinosaurs and chaos guerilla forces setting
>Krieg WW1-cranked-up-to-11 with mayhem and destruction previously unimagined setting
>Imperial Guard FPS horror game aboard a spaceship or base full of chaos mutants of Slasnesh
>Black Templars Crusade across multiple worlds like teutonic knights purging EVERYTHING setting

But no.
It has to be Ultramarines on some literally where planet.
Every single time.

Deathwing hto

To be fair here the reason we got the Ultras was because they are so widely known, and they wanted the game to be entry level knowledge. It wasn't made for actual fans of the setting, but normies.

GW also doesn't really like letting people go crazy with the setting. Or even really explore non-war aspects of it.

Why the fuck is Platinum so fucking bad at marketing their own games?

It also deserved way better multiplayer. It was good for what it was but if you jumped in late the higher level players had shit that would wreck you without even trying

NO ONE FUCKING CARES ABOUT ULTRAMARINES
LEAST OF ALL THE NORMIES

THEY KNOW THE FUCKING BLOOD RAVENS FROM DAWN OF WAR. THE SMURFS ARE LITERALLY FUCKING WHOOOOOOOOO
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

For a while I used to hope they'd make a sequel to Jade Empire but with the state of Bioware now it's probably a good thing they forgot about it

Otherwise pic related

Fun fact, TimeSplitters 4 was cancelled because marketing couldn't figure out which character to put on the box art.

>“Their marketing person would say something along the lines of, 'I don't know how to sell this.' The unanimous opinion among all publishers that we pitched TimeSplitters 4 to is that you can't market a game that is based around a diverse set of characters and environments."

>No Brothers in Arms type game where you play as a Lamenter and watch all your battle brothers die one by one.

I just want a game that follows the Lord Solar Macharius books. It's got everything, BANEBLADES, all the politican, and that trench warfare hell planet from the final book.

The Legend of Dragoon

>piece of gold
The final boss was a QTE. That is unacceptable.

And the BRs were only made up so that Relic didn't use an existing Chapter and fuck it up.

Survival horror as a guardsman on cadia during a warp storm/black crusade

True, but most things around that were great.
Crossing the bridge alongside the other chapters? Jiss all up in my power armour

Survival horror as an Arbite down in the underhive being pursued after accidentally uncovering a Stealer Cult.

You're in no position to make demands, peasant. I hear "hipsterindieshit" games would agree to make the game on a $5 budget and sell the game on a $60 price tag AND a $40 season pass. So unless you want some other no name developer making your dream game instead, you may want to retract your comment on our business practices.

Counterpoint: Chaptermaster is open source now.

M'lord, there is word from legal that the C&D payloads are ready. Should we have them expedited?

I'm in no position to make demands? That's rich coming from the company that changed the names of their factions so they could copyright it easier. You have ZERO love for your product and I have a product that your market WILL love. You don't even need to care about it. You pay for it, and it will sell.

LOADING MY GUN

Well at least DoW3 looks good.

>DoW3 looks good.

It absolutely does not.
It looks terrible and tragicomically cartoony, especially the effects and attacks. The giant gay walkers are also pure garbage.

God I fucking loved it when GW tried to claim copyright on a bunch of shit they hadn't even lodge applications for yet during the Chapterhouse suit.

Still can't believe that God settled out of court with them in regards to the design of the human skull.

Sir, Good news! "LiterallyfuckingwhoSoft" has agreed to make the game on a shoestring budget!

That is...they genuinely only want a pair of shoe strings to start development, which will only set us back $2. They also plan to ship the game with day one $40 dlc and Ork voicelines/skin packs at $8 each. shall i proceed?

I never could get it to work.

I'll PM you the fix.

>which will only set us back $2
Only?
...ONLY?!

DO YOU THINK WE'RE MADE OF MONEY??
THOSE $2 ARE COMING OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET YOU FUCKING MONKEY. AND RAISE THE PRICE ON THE NEW CAST-METAL ORC WARBOSS MODEL TO $90 WHILE YOU'RE AT IT

I just like watching them try to stand up out of their seat in front of the girl they like, only to realise that they have an awkward boner and their balls are hanging out.

Wait, what were we talking about?

negro

[This thread is locked]

which version because its being devved on bay12 now and you could talk with the devs directly.

Blast corps

I still have a boxed copy of this that I've never played. It's good?

This is the sad truth, the tabletop is so disgustingly expensive it's reached meme status. Games Workshop are merchant tier.

Vermintide is good.
If only the Swedes could stop sucking on the brown cock long enough to implement some fixes, do some long fucking overdue optimization and fix the RNG so people actually felt like their effort meant jack shit, it would be a great game.

i am so fucking mAD just wait until I tell me normie friend about this and he will be mad too that was the ONLY game we could normie it up together in

yes it is its you drive around blowing up buildings its like rampage but with vehicles.

T
The recent total war game was pretty good I thought althought the dlc for it is super fucking jewish

It's always the blood magpies or the fucking ultrasmurfs. We're doomed to repeatedly get these meme chapters.

Britbongs trying to act Jewish and somehow doing even better at the "happy merchant" meme.

GW has been getting better as of late. Prices are still fucked, but they seem to be getting back to the old days of having more than just 3 games in store, and pumping out side-games.

They need to bite the bullet and just get rid of the brick and mortar stores, or re-tool them to also sell non-GW stuff.

Last I checked, bay12 thread was only drama and wishful thinking. Development has ground to an halt.

As for the version, I tried the one linked in the (bay12's) OP, IAS + CM "mod" + fixes.

That would be CA/Sega's jewery not GW. The sad part is that the game would work with their DLC model, but they have priced it all so pants on head retardedly.

Hasn't there been a huge influx of WH and 40k games in recent years? I have no idea about their quality but I see a lot of WH titles on steam.

What's that? You want all the different human empires to each get their own $20 DLC, with nothing more than a palette color swap and different leader model?

Well okay, but you're taking advantage of my good nature here.

I know duke personally, you try any of his early builds?

Doesn't even need to be a proper sequel, a spiritual one would do.

Also Advent Rising, the game wasn't all that great but I remember my 15 year old self having quite a bit of fun playing it.

Goddamn the shit dice made was pretty too look at but it was so fucking stupid it was 3 multiplayer maps for fucking 60$ I'm still fucking mad it had potential

>tfw this was supposed to be a trilogy where the third game would end with Titus forming his own chapter of warp-resistant marines after telling the Smurfs to suck his spacenuts.

The pain is real

What ever happened to that mmo
I recall it having it's own little defense force back when the threads were sorta commonplace
