Game makes you commit to attacks/jumps

>game makes you commit to attacks/jumps
>can't move until the animation ends

I want to wavedash in Smash 5

this shit is why I dropped dark souls
it's such terrible game design

This shit pisses me off in Toukiden 90% of the time I get hit it's because I'm in the middle of an attack and there's nothing I can since guarding doesn't cancel the action.

>this shit is why I dropped dark souls

Is that in all the Souls games?

>he hates Castlevania

but that's great game design. it encourages you to play more thoughtfully instead of just relying on your reactions.

>character takes ten seconds to flex after drinking a potion as you mash b desperately

What game?

>game makes you commit to attacks
What's wrong with that? Makes you have to think about timing, openings and counter attacks.
Or do you just want to mash buttons and spam attacks without consequence? You dirty casual.

It's shit.

Monster Hunter? There's an ability which disabled the animation. In other words, artificial difficulty.

Doesn't take ten seconds. Please try again.

nah it's balancing
to make healing as a bigger tradeoff

Monster hunter

>Game has 8 frames of input lag

So almost every action game ever made?

Not that user, but it pisses me off when certain enemies have that one move that is nigh-instant and fucks you up no matter what if you weren't already in the process of getting the fuck out of there, Rathalos fucking 180 fireball leap into the air comes to mind. Doesn't help that the thing is pretty much the only attack that can hit for any real damage when standing directly under it with almost no startup. I can stand approximately 120 degrees to the left or right of it where no attacks have a chance to nab me except that one, and it's fast as fuck, so it picks me off every time if I don't want to extend the hunt for another 5-10 minutes unnecessarily. Thank fuck Rathian doesn't do this.

I love this so much. It's so ridiculous but incredible. When I played the first monster hunter I literally couldn't stop laughing at this and "MMMM LOOKS TASTY"

Sounds like a problem with enemy design and balance, not high commitment attacks.

SHIT TIER

>you can just cancel every animation without repercussions

GOOD TIER

>you cannot cancel animations

GOD TIER

>you can cancel animations, but only at certain points
>there's a drawback to cancelling animations

So you want monster hunter then???

>you move before the animation is complete
>item disappears from your inventory but has no effect

Bayonetta disagrees

I dont like that you can manually reload in Resident Evil without any drawbacks,it makes the reloading animation totally useless

>if you reload you keep the half empty magazine
>you can't sit down to redistribute your bullets

Well sure, but it's a recurring problem I've noticed. It's a fucking thing that keeps popping up in games, where there's no way to react to the attack if you weren't waiting to respond to an attack. Lots of situations where charging a greatsword in MH can lead to an impossible to dodge situation once an attack is started. Uragaan is a good example for this, if you want to hit his weaker spots. For the most part he has nothing that can't be reacted to when charging the greatsword, but he can then fuck you over by releasing some sleeping gas or an explosive gas, which is nigh impossible to dodge, unless you have a specific armor skill that increases the dodge roll distance, and that would only work if you're in the right position when charging the GS. Sometimes he can pull that out and you might as well just keep charging for the full strike for the extra damage because you're still fucked no matter how fast you react.

Again, almost no other attack but that shit can nab you when standing behind or under him, except maybe a tailswipe, which hardly does damage in comparison.

I love the commitment shit usually, I still love MH and I love the Souls games, every single one of them. But when bosses has one singular 'fuck you' move that's impossible to deal with if you want to be done with the fight some time this century, that's when I get royally pissed off.

>where there's no way to react to the attack
if you've fought Rathalos 1 or 2 times you already know when he does his ''fireball leap'', usually after a roar, in which case get lg earmuffs, makes him a total joke.

you think that everyone just gets hit by it everytime or something?

This. Games will never be the same after experiencing the witch dodge or whatever.

Dont stand between his legs.
Just release the attack and dodge sideways.
I never have problem with that attack, its actually very good to hit his Jaw since he is stuck for quite a long time in this animation and the fire/sleep barely get to his face.

This pissed me off in Arma.

Dayz did it well.

I always found TERA really fucking clunky in this way.

You can anicancel some abilities but overall you're still often locked into clunky animations for seconds at a time.

>can't do inputs immediately after landing from a jump

Can we get a list of games that are doing that?
I love games that do that.

Dark souls
Monster hunter
Zelda

What else is there?
