>fixing Bethesda writing
You ask the impossible.
By entirely rewriting it.
make it so you were an institute synth and the quest to find your son was just a premise to test the new breed of Nexus 7 synths. you passed with flying colours. please remain stationary for shut down sequence.

Start by firing this guy.
You start by scrapping every single bit of writing and launching Emil Pagliarulo into the sun.
Then you hire some actually competent writers that can write more that 200 words without contradicting themselves, their previous work, and the previous work in the series.
There's no need to fix it.
>that pose
JoJo reference?
The entire project was doomed from the start
>skyrim leveling
>no specialization
>shoot everything
>voiced protagonist
>muh son plot
Strip the entire game down before you even try to rewrite that shit story
How long until Bethesda gives up on the charade of calling their games "RPG's".
Your opinion is wrong and you should feel bad
First step would be to make a real modern game with proper locations and geography, and some actual RPG gameplay mechanics.
Since Bethesda is incapable of doing it, there is no need for a second step.
>Implying The Witcher 3 isn't somehow worse than FO4
It's fucked.
>your son is a synth
>your a synth
>everyone is a synth
>except like 7 Institute people
>reveal secret, murder institute or keep it to yourself
requesting the fallout 4
>why
>no why
pasta
>skyrim leveling
wat?
can someone please help this man
>[Intelligence] The baby is drowning.
Every time
The idea that if you grind enough, every character can have every possible perk/level, that they put in skyrim
It destroys any sense of character specialization when you can just up your SPECIAL stats and have every character pretty much be the same. The only differences are like if you want to use guns or use melee
Different ways for solving conflicts in the MQ would have been a good start. It fucking sucks that you can't complete 2/4 endings without killing off all the other factions.
>FO5
>Takes place 5,000 years after the Great War
>Zero civilization, people struggling to survive through scavenging 5,000 year old resources
>Plot revolves around finding your father, your son, your holy spirit, your wife, and your girlfriend(male) after leaving a vault that was never opened
>You obtain invincible power armor and a gatling laser with unlimited ammo 20 feet away from the vault entrance
>There are now approximately 0.3 towns in the game, the rest you have to build yourself
>There are still thousands of raiders and super mutants per actual normal person
>Ending revolves around siding with the Brotherhood of Iron, the Neo-Enclave, the wacky Victorian Steampunk faction, or the Totally-Not-Lovecraft faction
>Guest starring Liberty Prime and his wacky stoner brother Liberty Secundus
There is no specialization of a character. With enough grinding you can become god of everything.
>Guest starring Liberty Prime and his wacky stoner brother Liberty Secundus
Don't play with meme magic like that, you absolute madman
Fuck the story. Put the RPG back in it.
That's actually a good plot. Can't have any of that though.
>new vegas
>play as a whacky scientist chucking bombs everywhere and impressing people with his science and explosives knowledge
>play as a rough and tumble cowboy with high guns skill pistoliering everyone and surviving on roast geckos thanks to survival skill
>play as a smoothtalking high roller using charisma to talk everyone into helping you
so many possibilities
>fo4
>play as someone whose sole role-playing input is to try to get extra caps in dialogue
Too shitty to even wipe your ass with. needs clean paper.

This is the review that got me to buy Fallout 4
Dont force my character to be a parent to some faggot kid i dont care about
>Fire Emil Pagliarulo and put Todd and Pete Hines away for the remainder of the development of the game.
>Fire the Nolan North wannabe they got the male VA.
>Remove any "muh family" shit, also remove any mentions of the player's past so he can create the kind of character he wants.
>Put actual dialogue for the player character instead of just "YES, SARCASTIC YES, NO (YES)"
It won't actually fix that mess but it's a start.
Game needs to be fixed from the ground-up before we even touch the story. Can't make a good RPG story without having any RPG elements of substance, methinks. Dialogue wheel needs more than four choices and the plot needs to be less of a forced-feelings shitshow, for one.
>YES, SARCASTIC YES, NO (YES)
>not just walking away from every conversation
the one thing this steaming pile of shit got right
Add transgender and gay characters.
Convince Father that the commonwealth isn't a steaming pile of shit before he dies. Infact, just fucking fix every goddamn conversation in the game so there are intelligent responses that actually can sway people in good decisions that YOU, the player, had told them. Instead of being everyone's fucking bitch in the end because you can't convince a single soul that killing off the other factions might not be a good idea, and that there are better solutions. Asking for Bethesda's writers to be intelligent is a fucking impossibility though so the only "fix" is to essentially not buy the game so Todd doesn't get his money to hang out with scene chicks at a party.
>Infiltrate the Institute while working for Railroad
>Shaun makes you director
>Still have to nuke the Institute, can't just tell that whore to back down since you effectively run the Institute
I mean come the fuck on Bethesda
The Minutemen don't care about the other factions, and you don't have to destroy anyone but the institute in their quest line
Drop the son shit, drop the synth shit, drop the Railroad
>Institute, secluded bastion of technology, siphoning off a large amount of Boston's power and generally banditing supplies off of everyone else for the 'eventual' overall benefit of the area.
>Trying to establish a post-war technological society for everyone once they get everything running, but are having trouble scaling everything to the large population
>Militiamen have some actual presence other than the player character. Ramshackle, pro-popularist union of settlements strictly opposed to the centralization of the Institute or the Brotherhood
>Inherently disorganized, but high on manpower and popular in the towns that co-ordinate efforts of defense. Also successful in setting up defended trade routes but conflicting interests between towns has corruption and backstabbing run rampant
>Brotherhood trying to establish their own nationalistic, pre-war style centralized military junta. Backed by a well-trained and equipped army, but also with strong local footing in one of the largest food bowls of the area.
>Lacks the bloat of the NCR, due to smaller scale, while still trying to unify the local 'tribes' for the eventual connection to the rest of the country.
>Distinctly against the Institute, trying to take over their research and bring them into their own fold to be used soley for the Brotherhood
>Uneasy truce with the 'Free People' Militiamen, but relations are rapidly deteriorating
>Lacks local support, dwindling manpower and lack of connections in the area to keep supplies afloat. Becoming increasingly forced into a takeover attempt over the rest of Boston
Whatever I think it's a good idea
It seemed like they were setting up for it, especially with Far Harbor when the big-wig synth guy fucking asks how sure you are that you're not a synth, and what your earliest memory is.
>trading one piece of feces for another piece of feces
>with Mexicans becoming radroaches, and redguards becoming productive members of society
>all Africans could jump this high...if they tried
KEK
not the worst rewrite i've heard, user
You can't, the writing was clearly an afterthought once the various chimpanzees working at Bethesda HQ scratched their thick monkey craniums and figured out how to create something a single French modder conceived in his basement in a week.
Fallout New Vegas (not Bethesda) factions:
>NCR
a largely altruistic government based on actual present-day U.S. republican policy bogged down by bureaucracy and the potential for corruption on individual levels
>Legion
a collection of slavering intolerant psychopaths led by a small elite of well-read people implementing actual historic Greek philosophies
>House
a two hundred year old genius who's frozen in there while we're out here and wants to maintain a capitalist chokehold on a gambling empire so he can fund scientific endeavors to better mankind
>Followers
everyday wastelanders who have juryrigged an admirable amount of knowledge in regards to medicine and science, who want to help local people without surrendering their balls to some totalitarian regime
Fallout 4 factions:
>Institute
Androids are good, let's enslave them
>Railroad
Androids are bad, let's set them free
>Minutemen
Who gives a shit about androids? There's a deathclaw in my ass
>Brotherhood
muh airship
if working cryogenics is only in vault 111
then what did that insane scientist guy preserve his VR pod people with in FO3
next fallout will explain that fallout 4 was all a simulation in the cryopod
I am like 95% convinced that the original plot twist was that you were an experimental synth and Bethesda changed it when people guessed it within like 5 minutes of the game being announcd
Bethesda could give a shit less about canon. Even the bullshit canon that they came up with.
Because
Vault 111 was a trial for Vault 112's preservation and VR initiative
Brotherhood is
>muh technology
Make it so you can get in and out of the freezer tube whenever you want. Closer to when the bombs fell would be an interesting game as well as beating the game and going into cryo for 20 years. Maybe some sort of endgame with institute tech getting some time travel ability to stop the great war or just to die with your family.
Anything would be better really than how it actually played out. I at least wanted a Capital Wasteland DLC to see if it actually improved.
Didn't they admit having to look up shit on the fanwiki because they forgot?
I would rather they scrapped settlement building altogether. It was poorly implemented, buggy and I couldn't immerse myself in it because everything looked like crap.
There are 30 settlements in the base game. I would rather scrap them all for additional towns/cities.
There is literally only Diamond City and Goodneighbour, which aren't huge, and the tiny Covenant and Bunker Hill.
Even Fallout 3 had more towns than that.
Well fuck you user
Now I want to play that
>no Capital Wasteland DLC
>no Moonbase Enclave DLC
>Over half the Season Pass' budget was wasted on useless basebuilding trinkets that could pass as paid mods
I'm not sure, but I definitely wouldn't doubt it. It's fairly obvious they care nothing about the series at all. Anyone made something like this for Fallout 4?
I'm pretty sure the people in 112's bodies actually aged albeit slower than normal. I think if you opened the thingy they'd be too weak to sustain their own bodies and just die.
Then again Braun changed the initiative of the vault before finishing it to be his plaything.
damn he looks really chaddish/normie
I expected him to be some nerdy fuck like eric wolpaw or whatever the guy who (used to?) write for valve is called. maybe the problem is he's not.
muh deus vult
That would've been better than the shit we got. Jesus, I wish FO4 was just a dream sequence.
This what you need?
>>Over half the Season Pass' budget was wasted on useless basebuilding trinkets that could pass as paid mods
Most of the basebuilding DLC was already in mods before the DLC came out. It felt like a giant "fuck you" to me.
Hopefully not long, maybe people would finally stop bitching about the lack of RPG elements in a series that clearly isn't aiming to be a hardcore RPG anymore.
Does anybody even know why the fuck the Institute is making synths that are indistinguishable from humans? What's the endgame here? How does creating synthetic humans help with the survival of humans themselves? Can synths even reproduce? If you want a slave class without free will why would you want them to be able to infiltrate humans effortlessly?
Just... What the fuck?
DiMa had the right idea. Real shame the synths were created, just ship them off to their own island to create their own culture and live on their own until they die out.
Fucking garbage main factions. Far harbor is p cool though
WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT OF HAVING DOZENS OF SETTLEMENTS IF IT'S ONLY NO NAME NPCS AND RADIANT QUESTS?????????????
What's the point of a single player RPG if 90% of the quests are WOW-tier fetch quests?
...
Far Harbor was alright but fuck that island. I had DiMa executed then left that shithole forever.
Nuka World is a pain in the dick though on survival.
Too add on my favorite part of nuka world was cheating on the games. Just picking up the basketball and moving it through the hoop or using a large magazine rifle for the duck shooting.
>Can synths even reproduce?
That's kind of a gray area, but my headcanon says "yes."
They can't actually
Deacon tried to make a babu with his wife but it turned out she was a synth so they couldn't
Well maybe some can? There are multiple iterations of Generation 3 Synth...workers, infiltrators, coursers. Honestly it would make sense if they kept some in supply as emergency breeding stock in case some asshole wiped most of the civilians out
Plus she was lynched before they had any headway so yeah.
>Gen 3 Synths are essentially robot janitors that are 99% human except for some metal bits in their brain
>Every single member of the Institute insists they are not human, will never be human, cannot be human
>Institute kidnaps, rapes, and murders actual humans to replace with these not-human janitor robots because they want to improve humanity somehow
>Gen 3 Synths are superior to actual humans in every way but are NOT HUMAN NEVER HUMAN DONT QUESTION US YOU WOULDNT UNDERSTAND
>Creating not-human slaves and killing actual humans to replace with them is something that will improve humanity and is perfectly fine and acceptable
>But adding metal bits to actual humans like Kellogg is VERBOTEN ITS CROSSING THE LINES ITS GOING TOO FAR CANCEL THE PROGRAM
Maybe it would have been better if the multiple different writers behind the Institute actually met and communicated their ideas to each other at least once
In an unrelated note to Fallout 4 but rather to the lore in general. How the fuck do factions like the NCR and Caesar's Legion keep themselves supplied? No form of transport exists apart from walking, Brahmans and Vertibird. Vertibrids are used very sparingly by the NCR as I assume the only ones they have are salvaged from airbases. I would think by now after The Chosen One was able to salvage a car 40 years and use it to drive across the entire east coast with very efficient energy consumption. I'd assume he'd have passed that knowledge on to Arroyo and by large the NCR. Everyone should be driving these fuckers by now, there should be roads and shit rebuilt by NCR workers.
everything about the institute is retarded and doesnt fit fallout at all.
>No form of transport exists apart from walking, Brahmans and Vertibird.
The same way humans always have, supply caravans like the Crimson Caravan Company. And presumably also some trains further inland where they have more infrastructure.
I'm sure most of this has already been said, but divide it into 2 acts. In the 1st you have the son hunt, but it turns out you were a synth, all of those memories were fake, and it was both a test of the latest model and an elaborate scheme to kill Kellogg, who was leading faction wanting to overthrow Shaun.
Act 1 should require interacting and working with all the major factions, while Act 2 is politics. The Gunners and Minutemen are permanently opposed to each other, as are the Brotherhood and Institute. You have to join 1 and form a coalition with 1 of the other pair and a bunch of minor factions to wipe out the others and establish a new (but not necessarily nice or stable) Commonwealth. Factions within the major groups would be nice too. Lile either supporting Shaun or leading anti-Shaun faction in the Institute.
>No one in the Institute is actually human anymore. The creation of Synths isn't actually to REPLACE humans, it's to immortalize them. All the scientists have implanted their minds into Synths and are now eternally healthy, youthful and can continue their work for humankind.
>When they're replacing humans with Synths they aren't killing people, they're improving them by giving them a new and better body.
>The reason they're so desperate to keep Synths from escaping is that the escapees haven't been "filled" by the mind of the person they were meant to house. They're an entirely new existence that developed spontaneously.
>The Railroad believes these new Synths have a right to be their own people while the Institute wants to wipe their minds so they can serve as the housing for an existing human as they were meant to.
W-would this be an improvement?
>Vertibirds are rare as fuck, were only made post-war by the Enclave, and require plenty of resources to keep them operational
>The entire NCR has maybe a handful of them and its a whole nation
>Meanwhile in Boston vertibirds were plentiful pre-war and are explicitly not a post-war Enclave creation
>Absolute nobodies like the Gunners have plenty of supplies to maintain an unlimited armada of vertibirds
>Even the BoS can field an unlimited amount of them despite being an expeditionary force that certainly doesn't have an entire nation backing them
Starting all over to be honest
You can tell Bethesda thought themselves really clever for that "twist" of the Father being your son you were trying to save, and the rest of the plot suffers heavily from it.
Are you telling me that the entirety of the West Coast which is now booming with millions of people are kept supplied by Brahman caravans? To be honest I forgot about the railway though. Though I don't think it's ever mentioned how extensive that is or how many trains they have. Though I suppose if they're building it in the Mojave it's gotta be fairly large.
yes
that would be much better
uninstall
>The creation of Synths isn't actually to REPLACE humans, it's to immortalize them.
Synths have purpose, whether you like it or not it's already an improvement.
That works.
Though I still want some mind-wiping from the Railroad around if only to give more ambiguity to things. Something like, how do we know the Railroad are actually "helping" synths and not just mindwiping them and reprogramming them for their own goals and purposes?
Maybe for every 10 synths the Railroad truly helps out, they take 1 synth and say its memory banks are faulty or something. They then take that synth, mind wipe it, and reprogram it into a Railroad agent.
Hi we're the Institute. We can manufacture mindless robots and guns at a rate of one per minute, teleport them literally anywhere, and have them obey our every command.
What's that? You think it would be a good idea to have them cleanse the wasteland of threats, including but not limited to: deathclaws, mirelurks, ghouls, radroaches, molerats, raiders, and supermutants? (oh wait, we can cure supermutants)
No, we shall instead begin manufacturing NEW robots which are undoubtedly more resource intensive, and design them to be capable of hating us and rebelling. We'll do this in order to murder innocent people for literally no reason. We could barter with them, offering mindless security robots, weapons, armor, or supplies in exchange for resources and information, but that would be too easy.
For decades, we'll strike terror and suspicion into the hearts and minds of hundreds of people. We'll let fearful rumors of our capabilities spread far and wide to the Brotherhood of Steel, who we surely know about from our countless murder/replacement operations.
This is a good plan
They're used to replace and impersonate people in the wasteland, aren't they? That could be helpful if you were trying to manipulate the region's politics and felt you'd get more loyalty from synths than from just bribing the person in question. I haven't played Fallout 4 so I don't know if they do this.
What do you mean? The NCR is supplied by nearby farms, and the Legion likely has their own, worked by slaves in addition to their raids.
As far as I remember the only bit of story they got was they didn't really mean to fuck up and become a boogeyman, but even that's just discarded carelessly because they needed more shit for the player to shoot.
Honestly I kind of wish the Railroad turned out to be an Institute proxy created for one of their experiments. That would have been pretty cool.
California does have farmland, and most settlements in the early games have their own farms, then with caravans and traders to mix it all out and other supplies and trading.
>they didn't really mean to fuck up and become a boogeyman
That really goes out the window when you find the village that the Institute slaughtered for literally no reason, and how they assassinated everyone at a meeting meant to establish government in the Commonwealth
I don't mean food. I mean things like weapons, power armour, huge fucking Howitzer's like the ones at Hoover Dam. How the fuck do they move those around with Brahman? I'm not trying to be a nitpicking faggot but it's generally upsetting me when I thought about this while taking a shit today.
Yep.
Brotherhood
>Bruderschaft aus Stahl
>Dude let's make Super Mutants lmao
>mfw the BoS literally kill everyone in the Institute then nuke the fucking place instead of combing the place for tech or just occupying and destroying the synth stuff
House was right. Raiders in power armor. Remove Brotherhood
