I think the great problem of 2 is if you are american you get bombarded with references, since I'm not murrican the only reference I got was the star trek one, and even then It was a very rare encounter, so I actually enjoyed the story.

This molerat quest is one example, I played F2 more than 10 times and I only remember doing this quest once or twice since it was so out of the way.

Replace it with the talking plant, which is a reference to Little Shop of Horrors. It's hard to miss it in Broken Hills.
