If open world then either City or Origins. Origins gets a lot of hate, but it''s mostly because it didn't bring much new to the series after City, it's great as a standalone game. City is also very good, arguably better, although more over the top, but is connected to Asylum. Not in such a way that you won't understand what's going on without playing them in order, but it's good to play Asylum before City.

You press a button and your character casts a fireball or does some kind of flip over your target and lands behind them and stabs them in both kidneys. You didn't do that shit, you just pressed a button.

So yeah, MxO's interlock system was just rock/paper/scissors but the animations were on point and fighting other martial artists was just fucking satisfying. You were dodging shit, characters reacted to what others did, you'd fucking jump off walls and kick niggers in the face. Shit felt fucking good. Course, it only worked for two people at once in an MMO but nothing's perfect.

I enjoyed choking people with my bear hands in the second game that noise it made as you were doing it was so satisfying
