Attention to detail.

That and the Housers didn't write them, so the plot actually has character and takes unexpected turns.

This. MP3 had Godtier gunplay, sense of place, movement and music but the story was the worst of it all and it was shoved in your face

Is MP3 genuinely that fucking bad, in terms of story? I haven't played it yet.

It's not bad at all, just heavily flawed. Don't expect the story to make sense.

Also fuck that last chance QTE tier bullshit that constantly interrupts gunfights. It really slows the pace of the game down.

Yes, it's terrible.

Max Payne essentially has nothing to do with the plot, and if you replaced him with some other jackoff not only would the story still work, it would actually make MORE sense.

Goddamn that cover pisses me off.

The first two covers had a style to them, and then along comes the third to shit all over it with some generic action-movie cover.

It's like a metaphor for the game itself. It looks out of place on the shelf.

Nostalgia goggles

MP3>MP2

How can it be nostalgia goggles if I only played the games for the first time this year?

Image poster here. MP1 is better than 3 but 3 is better than 2.

>3 is better than 2
kys right now

>played MP1 and MP2 on consoles back in the day
>didn't like them
>always thought they were overrated
>someone tells me to try them out on PC instead
>replayed them again on PC just earlier this year and played MP3 for the first time as well
>fucking loved all three games

Yeah nostalgia. Sure.

MP2 > MP1 > MP3.

The mix of noir elements with mythological storytelling.

If you like eating shit

If you like eating garbage, sure.

Is the steam version of Max Payne 1 & 2 playable/stable or should I just resort to pirating both games anyway?

People have trouble running 1, I needed a user-made patch and compatibility mode.

With that, it runs perfectly.

You know what made the first Max Payne so good? This!
