only 1 good game on there user

>turn based JRPGs
Good riddance, such an archaic form of gameplay, completely irrelevant in the modern day. Every game should be action-focused and real-time.

Yeah, but shadow hearts 2 is even better.

Forgot Seiken Densetsu.

Basically Japanese game industry in general.

F

Kill yourself, it's because of people like you we can't have a good Final Fantasy anymore.

There's no such thing as a "good" turn-based system in JRPGs. There's little strategy or thought in them outside of SRPGs which are not JRPGs

You can add "Golden Sun"

Theres no strategy in "SRPGs", either. You mean tactics

F

Christ this hurts.

What happened?

youtu.be/PSH0eRKq1lE

One day we will retake Japan and liberate the games industry.

Wut? I doubt that series is dead.

Grandia was ok. I only played one but I enjoyed it. It never blew me away though. Worth keeping imo.

Only played Suikoden 4 which I'm told was shit at the time. Didn't get far. No particular reason I can remember. I plan to play the series eventually.

Never played Wild Arms though I plan to.

Same with Shadow Hearts.

Breath of Fire was a great series that they completely fucked with 5. 5 was an ok game on its own but a god awful BoF game. Fuck Capcom.

Chrono Trigger is better left as a single game. They don't have the skill or vision to make another one as good as this. Cross was garbage. Fight me.

>bof6
It still hurts

Out of all of these I think Wild Arms was the weakest. Great setting but pretty bad gameplay. Music was great though.

Suikoden 2 will always be a timeless classic, RIP games with soul

Nothing to see here but some irrelevant, dead japanese jrpg series

Gameplay wise Grandia is overrated, also the western voice acting is so bad. But no game comes close to the feeling of adventure it gave you.

Suikoden 4 is indeed shit. Play 1 and 2. 1 is dated but you'll love it if you stick with it, 2 is perfect.

Wild Arms is overrated but worth a try.

Shadow Hearts is brilliant, but I think the sequel lost some of the charm somehow. Both are still must plays imo.

BoF is indeed great and while 5 was polarizing it's one of my favorite jrpgs, not gonna apologize for it

Agred about Trigger/Cross, although it's so good that it hurts that we're never getting another one so good. We keep hearing "inspired by" or "spiritual successor to" but none of them end up delivering what CT did.

man don't remind me, I love the Wild Arms series so fucking much it hurts to be reminded that its forgotten to the wastes of time

Breathe of Fire and Wild Arms are the only 2 worth caring about. Chrono Trigger was the only game in the Chrono series worth your time.

all aged like milk

not going to go back and play chibi pixel shit

you can get you diapers wet all you want and scream millennial as loud as you want.

I would've been fine with Breath of Fire being dead if Capcom didn't revive it only to make a shitty mobile game that not even the nips like.

>GungHo won't release 1+Museum.
Bastards.

All of these series ended on a good game, who cares?

Plenty of good jrpg out there, for people who is willing to branch out. Just play them all.

F
Also
>ITT: we pay our respects as other fags scream "STOP LIKING THINGS WE DONT LIKE"

Suikoden ended on handheld garbage and BoF is now phone trash of the worst kind.

>Tactics Ogre / Ogre Battle
>FF Tactics
>Wars series
>tfw you lived long enough to see TBT and TBJRPG die
God damn.

>tfw Vagrant Story 2 never ever

chrono trigger is fucking shit

>Hear praise for Grandia all the time
>decide to give it a shot
>it's garbage
Why did you lie to me, Sup Forums?

1 and 3 are indeed garbage. Did you play 2?

>tfw I was hoping so desperately for a new wild arms this year because it was the 20th anniversary of the series

I let my hopes go wild and I got crushed.

Good riddance to fucking Suikoden.

The only good game in this picture is Grandia 2. The rest are all pretty bad.

I liked 5 for what it was. I just knew it wasn't a BoF game and that it would fuck the series forever and I was still in highschool back then.

I'm still mad that I really couldn't use dragon form since it was basically my timer that went up even when walking.

I'm ultra butt hurt that I managed to go through one run of the game without using dragon form at all AND I managed to stay under 100% at that ending sequence which blows your counter up and I got jack shit for it. Truly disappointing as fuck. I thought I would get an ending where he lives.

Obviously I was right because look at that shit show 6. 5 literally killed the series.

I just want a remake of WA2 like WA1 got, but it will never ever happen.

A remake of WA2 with an actual translation would be fucking GOAT

3 would be fine too

3 doesn't need to be touched, it's perfectly fine as it is with the PS4 HD port.
2 desperately needs a translation that doesn't turn half of the dialog into gibberish.

Yeah, true. I'm just glad 3 had a really decent translation.

Wild Arms generally only has music and some enjoyable puzzles going for it. Slow, generally braindead combat and mediocre stories that underuse the setting. Though 3 has likable enough characters and 2 is worth playing just for how batshit incompetent the translation is. 4 had a better idea for a combat system but everything else was so bad I couldn't play very long.

Suikoden 4 was going to be epic!
But it ended 12 hours too soon.... Suikoden Tactics is a tie in to it, but only succeeds at leaving you empty.... I still remember getting halfway through then realized I was at the end.

Wildarms should have been a single entry not a series. None of the sequels capture the magic and feel of the first.

BoF 3 is the master race of that series... Oh Rei you intense son of a tiger you! His battle transformation scream still moves me to this day

>Grandia
glad it's over, 3 was a mess
Xtreme had good combat, nothing else. they should bring over the mechanics to a new series.
>Suikoden
good riddance. 5 was promising but ended up being too little, too late.
>Wild Arms
XF was the moment I said "okay, I get it, good bye Wild Arms, thanks for the good memories"
>Shadow Hearts
the first game had perfect endings, it should've stopped there but 2 was too good to pass. 3 should have been named as something else, like Gaiden or whatever.
>BoF
the existence of 6 tells you what you need to know. expecting anything more from these people will lead only to disappointment.
>CT
not from modern Square, no. didn't even like Cross that much.
seriously, OP. you should be glad their deaths were quick. now it's time to hope for new franchises instead of remastering old shit all the time.

>Shadow Hearts
>Chibi pixel shit
Whatever you say famalamadingdong.

>Shadows Hearts is controlled by the same pachinko company that dismantled SNK

Best valkyrie will
NEVER
EVER
get her own game

most of the dev team ended up at Marvelous AQL so it's ok, company's getting boatloads of money with niche weeb titles so they can eventually resurrect it

does she need to? her "game" was both VP 1 and 2, she was heavily involved in both
I'm okay having her as the badass dark valkyrie bitch that keeps getting in your way

>I thought I would get an ending where he lives.
I thought he does?

It seemed like they were going to go in the direction where the 3 valkyries each got their own games but the mobile game killed it

You're right best girl is gonna get her own game instead

Covenant of the Plume killed it, the mobile game is just a cash in. also, it's fairly recent and is still alive and well in JP.
I wanted a Lezard game instead, scouring throughout the world some means to get a god's power, eventually getting access to Valhalla and Jotunheim, mastering sorcery and alchemy, culminating into marrying your waifu Lenneth

I honestly forgot covenant of the plume existed thanks for reminding me asshole

I wanted her to be the badass dark valkyrie bitch that I controlled.

cute girl rpgs killed this market

Square blew it, they could have made VP3 just like 2 and it would have been successful just fine
same goes for Star Ocean 5, it would have been received better on PS3 if it came out instead of SO4 back then.
they've wasted too much time and money on FFXIII when they could have simply carried on making basic followups to all their usual franchises on ps2, maybe we could have even got sequels to Chrono, Vagrant Story and Radiata Stories.

Chris WAS cute though.

but you do, on VP2 starting from that water castle with Arngrim in your party.
you also control her in the first game, but I don't remember if you can also fight or if it's just for exploration in some towns.

It wasn't enough senpai

>TBJRPG

Don't do that user, holy shit.

Just surpress your autistic urge to be overly specific and say srpg like a normal fucking human being.

But we can always change the future! Just like we did it last time! Right, Sup Forums?

youtube.com/watch?v=qii8bmSsSEQ

I'm cautious over wanting a game based on her because she works good as that rival just showing up sometimes along the road.
Having a whole game like that might backfire as some sort of Shadow the Hedgehog effect

Not if they don't own the rights to it.

And do they even develop games anymore?

Not really, length was S4's problem. It was a lot of other things and being a departure from the series. In fact, all Suikoden games are on the short side.

>now it's time to hope for new franchises instead of remastering old shit all the time.
because that's happening

Lunar

F

Mana series
F

they don't need to, just rename it like pic related and make a not-Yuri with blonde hair or something.
their latest input was Valhalla Knights, Fate/Extra and Senran Kagura. all niche weeb stuff, so it won't be too hard for them to pick up another JRPG for their catalogue.
all they need is a good monster designer and someone with IQ over 80 that knows about occult stuff, maybe borrow someone from Atlus' SMT team to help

- Grandia had the best battle system, with shitty stories. We need a third one.

-Shadow Hearts peaked at 2. Leave it dead

- I hope that I will get to see Suikoden 6 before I die.

-Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter was the best game in the series. Hoping for an HD port.

-Wild Arms needs to be more western and less fantasy. Just give the series one more shot Sony.

- Chrono Cross was garbage. We don't need a sequel

- You should had Mother to the list. Nintendo funds garbage games, like the shitty Paper Mario, and ignore their best RPG.

well, it is.
it just doesn't have stuff you like but hey, no one promised they'd deliver that specifically.

>length was S4's problem.
I thought it was setting it 100 years in the past when part of the appeal of the games were the games following on from the events of the previous ones and a lot of the cast returning?
It was good to see Ted again though

I've only played Chrono Trigger of the games on that image, and I played it a long time ago. Do any of the other games on there still hold up today? I need another RPG to play.

>not-Yuri with blonde hair
ayy

Seeing miserable ol' Teddie was pretty sweet.

As well as some of the lore like Reinbech

I wish TLS took more risks with it story becuase it's like the worst cookie cutter story you could come up with. I actually liked how it PLAYED, though. At least it wasn't another typical "input commands and wait" style of JRPG. Fuck not having a sidequest tracker and the way you had to hunt for ingredients in the city.

>Chrono
>Series

Having only two games with little to nothing next to rumors of a 3rd one.

If anything, the first one was just a mashup of the best things in the genre back in the day with a shitload of talen behind it.

The second one, not as much, but I really liked it too, still feel uneasy about it being a VERY bittersweet journey all the way through.

Now, fo the other ones, F, F as fuck.

>- You should had Mother to the list. Nintendo funds garbage games, like the shitty Paper Mario, and ignore their best RPG.
Itoi is done with Mother, isn't he? There's no sense in making another one without the lead series designer on board. Let it rest.

I preferred Reinbech better when it seemed like a joke name as opposed to an actual guy with a legacy they were referencing.

Played it after Xenoblade, didn't expect a "le open world" but it sure as hell felt very linear, a bit like FFX, not THAT linear but still.

The final battle and dungeon were cool as hell, the music was pretty good too.

>Mother

Fine line betweed dead because it was killed and dead because it served its purpose.

JRPGS TODAY ARE JUST AS GOOD AS THEY ALWAYS WERE YOU'RE JUST CHERRYPICKING A-A-AND YOU'RE DUMB AND A NOSTALGIAFAG AND AN UGLY VIRGIN AND I HATE YOU SO MUCH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

His character does kind of lend to the comedy of the joke

JRPGs today are just not made for me anymore. I don't know how good good they are because they don't appeal to me at all with their aesthetics and overplaying the cuteness factor.

And yet Star Ocean, series with ONE good game, keeps getting a sequel each generation.

Exactly. But if you say that moefags will quickly say shit like only unironically

Marvelous didn't make Fate/Extra or any of the Senran games. They only published them.

And I'm pretty sure Last Story was named Last Story in Japan.

Even worse is when people refer to the Xeno "series."

>the spiritual successor to a spiritual successor of a spiritual successor

Literally the level it has gotten to with XBCX.

You just don't like games anymore. Just admit that. And you hate your life and yourself which make you feel miserable and unable to enjoy fun games that don't have edgy atmosphere and bitter protagonists.

JRPGs are still great games.

This unironically.

who are you quoting?

Shadow Hearts is still solid, and Suikoden 2. Honestly all of those still hold up except for Wild Arms, which are still okay games

She was actually a good lead. She was attractive without being fanservice whatsoever. No sexy outfits unfit for combat, no moe shit or anything like that. Lightning wishes she was Chris.

Man, I really wish S3 wasn't so meh, it could've been great.

>one
you mean two, SO 2 and 3
no one plays SO2 for the story, its just as melodramatic as the others, also has its little funny moments buried in a sea of boredom and cheese like the others.
people play star ocean for dem 100+ hours of crafting/farming/grinding and minigames, not for saving the world and protecting your waifu.

the only thing SO 2 has over the rest of the series was great pre-rendered backgrounds and horrible but funny voice acting.
even the first star ocean's PSP remake tried to cash-in on that by borrowing 2's engine and redrawing everyhing but it was still a snorefest.

;_;7
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Both SO1 and SP2 PSP versions feel somehow sterilized. Maybe it's just the character redesigns or something, but I can't stand either.
