So Sup Forums, AMD or Nvidia?

So Sup Forums, AMD or Nvidia?

Which ever one you can afford and meets your standards.

Not your brand loyalty bullshit.

...

480 is the better choice. If you can afford more, go for a 1070

Unironically Nvidia

>buying amd

Yeah this whatever meets your performance and price needs.

If your only doing 1080p you probably don't need much more than an RX480, 1440p or 4K you would be looking more at a 1070 or 1080.

>1080 is the only card that can hit 60 fps

The choice is obvious

>This graph
1 whole FPS how will AMD ever recover.

...

This can't be real.

>480x beating the 1060 on a DX11 game
That's an unexpected but pleasant surprise. For a second i thought this would be DX12 numbers.

It's a meme based on how Nvidia creates deceptive graphs that only present about 30% of the graph in order to visually exaggerate performance differences.

Any CoD4 remaster benchmarks?

Damn, this game seems pretty optimized. My 970 could barely handle BO3 at 3840x1080 @ 30fps.

Ok I laughed

>A $170 MSRP card can run the latest CoD at 4k 30fps

Are developers finally putting some effort on PC gaming? Can we say we're finally starting to leave the dark age of shitty ports?

>ever buying AMD
They need to get their shit under control, their cards bug out on every game.

I know its not serious I just got a good chuckle out of it.

>1fps

Clearly the 480x is the best price/performance ratio here. Also it wont shit itself once DX12 becomes the norm, unlike the 1060.

Call of Duty games are almost always well optimized the fact they target 60FPS and usually meet it consistently on consoles further re-affirms that.

>using Windows 10
I hope you guys don't do this.

Nah you are just a retard.
Was running a 5850 for 6 years no problems.
Upgraded to a r9 270x for more that 1 year now no problems again.

W10 seems really stable since the anniversary update. I was always running into shit before the update, but it's fine now.

It also applies to Vulkan, except no one but Bethesda will bother with that, because of IDTech. Maybe also Valve, but they haven't made new games in a while.

Almost every other engine is or will become DX12.

Performances aside, I believe AMD is taking a smart approach, trying to reduce the cost of entry to PC gaming whereas nVidia has only managed to try and make it an even more expensive endeavor.
I currently have a GTX 970, but knowing what I know now I would have opted for the R9 290/390 instead because since buying my video card, I got a good deal on a freesync ultrawide.
I'm hoping for a good contender for the high-end market in the AMD corner with Vega, but it feels so far away. The 480 was announced weeks ago and I can't even hope to buy one of those now if I wanted (US market). Supposedly, the aftermarket will be making announcements soon (Powercolor already has today) regarding the reveal of their 480 offerings.
I can't help but feel it should not have taken this long for AMD though. They must not have as good of control on their supply chain as nVidia does.

>$200 extra for a 10 FPS boost compared to 1070/FuryX

Green or red for health bars?

No it's not. Unless stable to you means "my computer doesn't randomly crash while I'm posting on Sup Forums."

Microsoft keeps sending out shitty broken update after shitty broken update.

Red=Health
Blue=Mana
Green=Stamina

It was shitty at first because they sent it out to a few people at first to test it, but now it's out for everyone and it's fine. It's pretty shitty that they did that, but whatever.

>being poor

Green from 100%-21% health
Red from 20%-1% health

>4gb isnt enough vram
>hbm is just a gimmick
>fury x keeps pace with 1080

gonna enjoy the HBM2 vega blowing nvidia the fuck out real soon
then taking the mobile market by storm with the 40% pcb reduction

You're still an unpaid beta tester and that is never going to stop unless you defer upgrades. But that requires you to have enterprise edition.

It's still shitty. And I use it, so I damn well know just how shit it is.

#nextgen

>fury x keeps pace with 1080
No it doesn't. Not by a long shot. It seems like all AMD loyalists do is wait for the next thing they shit out to be disappointed once again.

I already have a 1060 so I can't tell you.

How is the FPS at 1080p?

...

>it's the year of ATI/AMD

I've heard this so many times it's not even real anymore

Fury X which was the direct competitor to the 980ti has 10 fps more. BASED GIMPWORKS

I think this generation of hardware sucks and I'm waiting for the next batch of shit to drop.

It feels sorta depressing we'll never see major leaps like the 8800GTX series again.

HBM2 GPUs (but only if you gaym on 1440p or higher)

but this generation had big gains in performance compared to the previous

I've been saying that for ten years.

Don't be silly, I've never had an AMD card, but whenever I hear complaints of crashes, bugs, drivers, etc, it's always AMD. Enjoy your shit cards, I can actually afford good cards.

Damn 980ti getting straight KEKED

My Windows 10 PC has literally never crashed since day 1. What the fuck is wrong with your shit?

Do you have an MSI 1070 because that shit was borked until the BIOS update today.

Did you already forgot about the 3.5 GB fiasco you dwindling retard?

>windows 10
>day one

so you just bought your PC?

>A $400 PS4 gets the same performance as a $700 Nvidia card.

ps4 games are locked to lowest settings, yo

Are you blind?

>I'm not poor because I can waste an extra hundred dollars on a slightly better graphics card

That's not how it works user

Buy amd if you want loud, cheap, powerful extremely hot card with shit drivers

Buy nvidia if you want silent, more expensive, cooler card with native support to few technologies and gimmicks used in current games

>Meme resolution

But user, the PS4P version runs at medium settings.

I built it right after 7 came out, my retarded nigger.

>A $400 PS4 plays games on the lowest settings at 30fps with drops

Consoles are like the Kia of the auto world.

And yet that card was still better than the AMD selections at the time, that goes to show how terrible AMD cards are.

>he upgraded to 10
>calls anyone else retarded

this board mang

>Tfw upgrading from 660 to Rx 470 4GB
>Always got my friends to install my shit for me

Its crazy how nervous I am to dust my PC and swap graphics cards seeing as how I have removed this card before.

Upscaled 4k

Had 970 before my 1060, whole 3.5 thing was barely noticeable (other user here)

Also had rx480 in between. It was shit and run like leafblower for no reason, rma it because it would crash under 100% load

Screencap this post and read it when you're forced to upgrade to Win10.

The fiasco had to do with how, because nvidia couldn't really make a better card than the 970, they just crippled it on purpose, then sold an uncrippled version for twice the price.

And you're a sheltered fag who believes in a government conspiracy that doesn't mean shit. You're the kind of fucker with child porn on your PC. Get a life.

Only retards got forced to "upgrade."

Well did that too to no problems at all also
>listening to what angsty linux fags say
>ever
xD

I had a 970 too but that doesnt mean its acceptible, ever.

You probably bought a rx480 with a reference cooler or just got a bad model. Nvidia GPU's with ref coolers can be loud as fuck too but the fan curve is set a good 20% lower then AMD's.

>the only people who don't want windows 10 are criminals

... great post

You haven't disproved that claim.

CoD games are INCREDIBLY well optimized.

The XP retards said the same thing LOL

>run like leafblower for no reason
Don't ever, EVER buy reference cards. That's why it ran like shit, too. Thermal throttling and all.

Black Ops 1 and 3 were not optimized for shit, at least not at launch. I think there was something with Modern Warfare 3 as well, but not too sure about that.

It's true though

Well, to be fair, it IS true.

Literally the only people who DON'T have some distrust of the government ARE sheltered faggots.
You sheltered faggot.
Even fucking niggers, who suckle at the teat of mamma gubment, are suspicious of it.

Basically what said. Depends on what your needs are.

>3840x2160

>1080p
AMD is shit no matter what you choose.

Sure thing, "Anonymous" ;)

I don't care about fan curves man and reference coolers (it was XFX by the way 8gb oc version too), bought amd - it was shit, cost me time, nerves, trying different shit to finally deciding it's just shit/broken, it was obnoxiously loud when it 'worked'; bought nvidia - it's great out of the box. It's that simple. I agree 3.5 shit shouldn't happen but I bought 970 knowing about it and it didn't affect my experience too much. It's a same feeling as getting baited for some gentoo meme. You just discover that anons have some messed up priorities.

>AMD is shit no matter what you choose.
Nigger what kind of comparison is that? The RX 480 is a mid-range card and the Fury X is just the 980 Ti of its generation. We don't have a very high-end AMD card from this gen to compare fairly.

It was 8gb XFX black edition

You mean the 980ti, a card that's 400 dollars more expensive than the 480 can barely get 9 fps more?

That's just sad man

So you bought the 480 from XFX which still uses the ref cooler design, ok. retard

Well then the fans are the problem of XFX then. You don't put that kind of blame on either Nvidia or AMD, since it's the third party manufacturers that manage the coolers and shit on their cards.

I don't care about any of that shit now with my 1060 faggot

>things amd fanboys say for 1000

Yeah support forum is full of your kind, decreasing voltages in wattman and all that. Just buy card from good company once, you'll see difference.

I have an r9 380 currently, thinking about upgrading to a 1070. Mostly game at 1080p but plan on upgrading monitor soon as well and want something relatively future proof.. Soooo, 1070 = worth it?

Go off and buy a Founder's Edition card then and see how that works out for you. Learn your shit before you fucking make a purchase. You don't buy reference coolers ever.

1070 can barely hold 60 fps on Crysis 3 at 1080p
All the benchmarkers always use less demanding areas to make the cards look better.

Nigger card was not holding 100% load for 5 mins it was broken as shit, i buy product i expect it to work like nvidia cards

Nigger, you dont get it do you? _Literally_ all blower cooler design are loud and hot as fuck, the best fan wont change shit.

>Also buying mid tier cards from Nvidia ever

The rx480 will shit on your 1060 once the 11xx cards arrive lol.

If you're getting a 1440p monitor, sure. 4K, 1080 or wait for Vega or even a 1080 Ti.

You got me here

I'm not talking about my PC crashing you cretinous Microsoft apologist. My problem is with them releasing broken updates which you are supposed to beta test for them.
I don't want to be their fucking beta tester, and the only way for me to avoid working as one is to have Enterprise or Education (which I do) version of Windows 10.
The Windows 10 OS is a shit sandwich and it's pretty clear that Microsoft is going down the tubes really quickly when they are resorting to releasing software which barely passes the bar for a beta in order to save money on actual beta testing.

No, my PC isn't crashing and no I don't have a MSI 1070. Broken update doesn't = oh noes my PC crashed cuz my hardware is fucked!
It equals Microsoft releasing buggy untested trash. If you aren't running into problems, pat yourself on the back for never venturing outside of the bounds of a typical AAA gamer/dumbuser because a lot of the problems only exhibit themselves if you actually have preferences and optimizations.

Why would you pay $400 more for a 980ti to get 9 fps more when you could pay $120 more for a 1070 and get 20fps more?
