I hope they get a revival now with VR shit. I love on rail shooters
Rail shooters are only fun when you get a gun to point at the screen
We got Dead Space, Resident Evil Chronicles, House of the Dead rehash, and some others in the previous generation.
>The Keisatsukan on VR
God no, I don't have enough room in my place for this. But I would love it
My local arcade had that one, it was pretty neat
Because 3 and 4 forced the alt weapons. And didn't have the same amount of features in the home version as 2, which is amazing.
FUCK YOU NAMCO
>I have never been to arcades
MACHINE GUN
a Light Gun is required
everyone is jumping on VR
House of the Dead Overkill was new though.
where can i download one of these games to play on my PC?
If we could do it semi-well at home 10 years ago, we can sure as shit do it well now. Hell, we already have Wii, just make it an attachment and bam, the Wii is fun again.
Because 4 and beyond went full homo.
On-Rail shooters along with flash games comprised the majority of my childhood. It's a damn shame both died out.
Literally everywhere? are you inept or want to be spoonfed? However, the point is to use a gun, and if you don't have one, you will have to play with mouse which is lame as fuck.
R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-RELOAD
Can you believe they made Robert Baxter the main antagonist of Time Crisis 5?
Also, Wild Dog is the coolest.
>Wild Fag as his successor
how about nope.
what is a "rail shooter"?
I liked Wild Fang in 3, but it would've been better if he'd died there with Wild Dog living on. Just look at this silly homo now.
shooter that takes you and moves you around, you can't change paths most of the time, save some minor exceptions, like if you were on a rail.
youtube.com
Wait for Farpoint with the PSVR Aim peripheral. Looks neat.
I want a Time Crisis where you play as Wild Dog
was just about to post this. anything after 4 never happened.
i just want a sequel to 1 with the one man army again. richard miller was cool as fuck and had that mid 90's jackie chan movie vibe to his look.
>tfw i can't find a single fucking crt tv that will play time crisis 2 properly with any gun i own
>every time i try both 2 and 3 have a weird tracking issue where it can't track the bottom left corner of the screen
>time crisis 1 doesn't do this for some reason
this infuriates me TO NO END
Literally the GOAT/patrician video game genre, especially in arcades. No other third person FPS RPG with strategy elements vidya can match the sheer FUN of playing light gun games
House of the Dead a best
They tend to be difficult That's it.
They were so they could swallow all your quarters. On home consoles, there's no need to make them needleslly hard, just make them fun. That Time Crisis for the PS Move, as much as I hate the move, that game was really good.
Especially the pirate one.
>unloved bastard child
CRISIS ZONE
them shitton of destructible objects, though
i appreciate the fact that the entirety of the pc versions use .wav for all their sounds. you can redub the entire game if you want to.
I haven't kept up with the series in a while, is Wild Dog still alive?
ive already. taken care of G-this is only the beginning. youre next. gettem
seems like my advice had noeffect
suffer like G did???
Don't shoot me frog - o
>The heli boss
>The tank boss
>All that destruction
>The kick in the gun felt amazing
>That ending
This game had everything, and I'm mad as fuck this was never ported outside arcades.
This is him in 5.
It was on PS2 though. I emulated it the other day and was going to make webms, but I never did.
my guncon gravitates to the bottom right of the screen.
the game knows that the gun is pointed at screen, but always bottom right corner
i have no idea what causes this or a fix because no one really owned it...
i'm starting to think it may not be the tv's at all really, but the old hard ware or something. no idea.
they still make light gun games.
hell, time crisis 5 came out last year.
You mean light gun shooters specifically?
>arms completely dead after an hour of LA MACHINEFUNS
Lightguns with recoil were the shit.
it worked at certain angles and lightings.
couldnt really narrow down cause fixes were never consitent but i just gave up and think mechanical failure or something.
My best friend and I had this great trilogy of attempts at a HotD4 machine in the lobby of a movie theater in a mall. Made it 40-50% through on our first attempt without knowing much, then on our second attempt we made it to the very beginning of the final level before losing it all. Then we did some strategizing research on the final boss before heading in a third time with like $20 in quarters between us and fucking crushed it. This over the course of like 4-5 months.
Same friend and our best mutual friend also went through the entirety of Deadstorm Pirates for my birthday once. That's an incredibly fun game; perhaps the best modern rail shooter.
>our faces every single time we got to SHOT COMBINE
>It was on PS2 though
DOWN-FUCKING-LOADING! Didn't know about it, thanks.
I'M THE KING OF THE SWINGER ZOOOOOOONE THE JUNGLE VIP
I REACHED THE TOP AND HAD TO STOP AND THAT'S WHAT'S BOTHERING ME
I miss arcades.
crisis zone and razing storm both didnt have "Time Crisis" until home version.
i didnt know that Time Crisis: Crisis Zone was just a rerelease of Crisis Zone until my friend bought it.
always thought it was like a sequel like time crisis project titan
The RE games, the dead space, the house of the dead and the time crisis ones for the move are solid. Shame the move goes full shit with detection.
I mean xbone has the kinect it would be easy to do to bad they dropped having kinect be mandatory so itd be niche. Just make a light gun microsoft pls
>live by a round 1 bowling alley
>they occasionally put in new japanese arcade machines
feels good.
they are suppose to be getting Gunslinger Stratos 3 soon.
I still have the home versions of the first Time Crisis and Project Titan. Always wanted Time Crisis 2 but I never had a PS2 lightgun.
lets go jungle is a great game but it also spawned a billion clones and effectively casualized the genre. Deadstorm pirates was the ONLY good thing to come out of it
>mfw trying to do the multi screen attacks solo in TC 4
are you 11?
PS1 Lightgun worked with PS2
only good reason to buy a psmove on ps3 is to buy all the lightgun games for it.
Time Crisis 2 works with PS1 guncon but not Time Crisis 3
This. Rush of Blood is so fucking awesome.
>not playing 2Spicy, literally the best light gun shooter no one's heard of
>features a 2 player vs. mode where you play on side-by-side linked up cabinets and try to kill the other player in an arena death match

It's by Sega, so it's legit top tier quality.
EDF Rail Shooter when?
>Inb4 Let's Go Jungle
i played that at gameworks in vegas before they closed down.
it was pretty fun. kinda hard to control though.
I found the Tyrant boss fight in the RE2 segment of Darkside Chronicles to be unbeatable because my fucked up Move controller's aiming reticule would constantly drift, he's really fast, you have to shoot a very specific part of his body, and the game has that annoying built in camera sway effect.
Best music.
I don't know. All I know is that Time Crisis 2 is one of the best games of all time
You're fucking kidding me. Only reason why I didn't buy Time Crisis 2 for my PS2 was because I thought I needed the PS2 version of the Gun-Con. Fucking nigger cunt shit bitch. The only time I played TIme Crisis 2 was in my local arcade which closed more than a decade ago.
You know that feeling when you know a girl that is into you but you still don't ask her out? That's how I feel right now.
I wasn't much older than that when those things happened, yeah. Figured Sup Forums would understand nostalgia,
youtube.com
They need to bring back shooting gallery games.
I thought it was a cool story.
oh wow, I might try that sometime, make a gagdub for the whole game
>They need to bring back shooting gallery games
but they did. literally every VR game is a shooting gallery game.
WHY THE FUCK AREN'T GOOD RAIL SHOOTERS ON THE VR!?
-The House of the Dead
-Time Crisis
-Silent Scope
The fuck are the good games at!
Time Crisis 1 was the best, the extremely strict time limit really made you feel like a lot was at stage.
vitrua cop sequel never
>Lethal Enforcers
>Fucking Lucky and Wild
>Carnevil
Seriously, make railshooters great again
VR is basically built for Silent Scope. The TV is the full view, and the headset is the scope. Anybody watching gets to see how cool you are shooting targets so far away.
This, this, a thousand times this!
youtube.com
Point Blank was supremely my shit
FUCK DUDE
I love this idea!
>"Let's play Metal Gear"
I STILL can't beat the first level.
That game was hard as balls, prolly because I was out of shape.
My dad loved this game, he always asked for a quick play in the evenings.
Quest mode was great too.
>not 2
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The fact that they didn't port this or the sequel to Wii is borderline criminal.
Rail shooters died with CRTs.
VR has a chance of bringing them back, but sudden zooms and camera movement are IMPOSSIBLE in VR. You'd have to make a game that's basically a virtual 2D cabinet, and at that point, why would people buy an 800 dollar headset?
If the genre was big, I could see it picking up a decent amount of traction, but it's so niche that it won't.
My personal hope for light gun games is the whole lighthouse system. If Valve stop being retarded kikes and the chinks can clone it for say, 50 bucks with 2 gun shaped controllers and some software for setting your screen size (place muzzle on all 4 corners of your physical screen would work given it tracks well in full 3D), then we could finally return to the golden age before CRTs died and were replaced by absolutely awful IR LED solutions that don't work for shit.
I've still got a CRT hooked up with a compatible light gun, and every few years an old game becomes playable through emulation, finally. But it's slow fucking going, and especially annoying when Sega or Namco could put together a bumper pack of all their old games in a weekend.
>shooters died out
When?
Who else did Devil May Cry mode on The House of the Dead (two guns, one person, pizza at the ready)?
The Wii had one.
GG is absolute garbage as a light gun game. I'd actually award it the "worst of all time" title, as it's the complete anti-thesis of what a light gun game should be. Is it fast? No. Are the enemies hard to hit, or attack quickly? No, they all stand still and take an hour to fire at you. Is it about speedily dispatching those enemies then, like a shooting gallery? No. It's about slowly panning over your enemies to look for a weakspot.
It gets absolutely everything wrong. I'd play trash like Warzaid every day of my life instead of GG even one more time.
That's not an argument.
OP said rail shooters are dead even though one just came out.
Your opinion isn't relevant to that fact.
>when people say the Wii had light gun games
Seriously, this is what they all look like. HotD:Overkill is the worst in the series, thanks Wii, for having cheap motion controls that work so poorly, designers are forced to trivialize the game to compensate. Great little grindhouse story, but I beat it once and haven't touched it since, while I go back to the other titles constantly.
I vaguely remember one rail shooter I played as a kid that had a rifle instead of the usual handguns. Enemies included guys a helicopter boss. It had a pedal which you had to step on to reload, but I was too short to reach it so my dad had to step on it for me.
That's not a light gun game, though. I think it's very important to maintain a distinction between positional gun games, and light gun games. One involves a gun shaped controller that you use to aim. The other involves any manner of controller, which used to be fixed to a base, but these days roams free, and an ON-SCREEN RETICULE.
If your game has a reticule, it's not a light gun game. If you're using a system to approximate the CRT based light system, such as the IR tech used in titles like HotD2 and VC3, then it's an honorary light gun game. If you're using that tech to ape positional games with a dumb machine gun controller and an on-screen cursor, then it's not a light gun game.
What does OPs post say?
Rail shooter or light gun game?
I did too, I am just really jaded.
I'm sorry friendo.
Who gives a shit, he posted TC, which is a light gun game. They're completely different genres, even though they both fall under the umbrella of "rail shooter". It's like someone starting an FPS thread with Quake and then some retard getting upset because the latest Titanfall isn't considered relevant to the discussion.
>First person shooters don't exist anymore because I don't like the modern ones
Okay. You're a moron, I understand now.
Would it be ok to mention Silent Scope in this thread?
