>playing human when multiple other races are available
Jesus Christ can someone be more shit and boring than this. Literally unoriginality avatar.
At least play skeleton or something
Playing human when multiple other races are available

I can't get into any fantasy game that lets you make a character and features different fantasy races, but refuses to let you play as fantasy races. Like fuck off I can't relate to a non-human face, that's just bullshit.
Alien races are usually shit.
Humans are the most balanced and/or receive better boni to just about everything.
For example, an Elf gets +2 Dex but -1 Strength but that won't matter after 5 levels anyway where a human gets +10% MF.
>wow multiple races
Greem human
Bearded manlet human
Ear deformity human
Furry human
wow
>being a special snowflake for the sake of being a special snowflake
The point is I rather interact with those other races with distinct personalties and specific behaviours designed from ground-up rather than try to poorly emulate them myself.
I don't need to emulate human behaviour since I am human. I might choose a different race if its traits fit my personality, but usually humans are the best for that.
Not to mention, in a world full of special snowflakes, being just a regular human is unique in itself.
>I might choose a different race if its traits fit my personality, but usually humans are the best for that.
>t. unimaginative uncreative joyless faggot that plays video games to play as himself
Most games don't have a Skeleton race though.
I'd love to see a game having a bunch of races with distinctive traits like squids being able to electrocute enemies or rat people being able to easily climb walls and eating tradh or slugs with impaired movement but high evasion.
>implying you can successfuly emulate a completly different mindset than that of a human
You will only end up as a wannabe caricature.
>>t. unimaginative uncreative joyless faggot that plays video games to play as himself
I'm terribly sorry you are too boring and useless to do that and escapism is the only way in which you can enjoy video games.
Better luck in the next life I guess.
>other races are human reskins and/or special snowflake sevaint art tier
I'll wait until some interesting new races come along
I'd play skeleton if I could, unfortunately devs are creatively bankrupt and most other races are just humans of different sizes, skin colors, and ear types
>mfw my first character in any rpg always is a self insert
>still no game that starts with the protag dying and then continuing his quest as a skeleton
>not playing Goblin
I'm too boring because I can imagine being someone else who is not like me when I play a video game? Yeah whatever man. Thanks for proving my point.
What are games that aren't DnD where I can play a skeleton warrior with big, bulky armor and giant swords?
Only other race worth playing are dwarves because they are just angry binge drinking warriors who party most of the day and kill trolls in the afternoon.
>implying I want to be some knife eared prick
MediEvil
Is it time to get fucked, stud?
Pen and paper.
Shit you are right, though I'd prefer a less cartoonish and more just skeleton-as-rpg-protag thing.
Its been so many years since I played that though
>make game
>no skeleton race
>playing human means you self-insert
Well fallacy'd, friend.
>I'm too boring because I can imagine being someone else who is not like me when I play a video game?
You are boring because playing as a character your personality wouldbe broing, proven by your desire to be a special snowflake.
>Thanks for proving my point.
Thanks for proving mine.
>alway play the furry race if it's drawn/modelled well
>mfw the horror that is khajiit
Yeah I know. It's shit though we're on Sup Forums and no fa/tg/uys
I'm annoyed at the pink nose.
are there games out right know which have good playable beast races?
>You are boring because playing as a character your personality would be boring, proven by your desire to be a special snowflake.
What? What the fuck? Even fixing your butchered sentence I still don't understand. You were the one talking about fantasy races that fit your personality (which you say because you're boring and so need something similar to yourself to project into a game because no imagination). Also, special snowflake?
>Not to mention, in a world full of special snowflakes, being just a regular human is unique in itself.
Your words. In a fantasy world where non-human races are the norm, how is that being a special snowflake? I want to fit into a fantasy world. While that's not the most creative thing in the world yes, it's a hell of a lot more creative than just pretending to be myself in a fantasy world. And while we're at it:
>You will only end up as a wannabe caricature.
Of what? A fucking fictional race that doesn't exist that some writer just thought up to fit the setting? Can you even be a caricature of something like that?
>repeating my sentence back even when it makes no sense
yeah ok, I can tell you were stretching here
Beast races as a side thing in games have fallen out of favour of late.
Used to be super duper common.
WHAT GAMES CAN I PLAY AS A SKELETON
there's a reason fantasy races don't exist
human or bust
Same, why is this so looked down on? RPGs usually have enough content for multiple playthroughs but I like going through it with my general mindset the first go around.
Dwarves are the fucking nuts in most games. Particularly funny when doing romance options in Bioware as a stub-nosed muscly rock smasher.
>What? What the fuck? Even fixing your butchered sentence I still don't understand.
Don't know what you didn't understand. You wouldn't play a character like yourself because you are boring and don't have any practical skills, it's not rocket science.
>You were the one talking about fantasy races that fit your personality (which you say because you're boring and so need something similar to yourself to project into a game because no imagination).
No, I'm saying that because emulating a completly alien mindset properly is fucking impossible.
>Your words. In a fantasy world where non-human races are the norm, how is that being a special snowflake? I want to fit into a fantasy world.
If that fantasy world has humans in it then they fit perfectly as well.
>While that's not the most creative thing in the world yes, it's a hell of a lot more creative than just pretending to be myself in a fantasy world.
There's more to it than just preteding to be yourself, but you wouldn't know.
>Of what? A fucking fictional race that doesn't exist that some writer just thought up to fit the setting? Can you even be a caricature of something like that?
You certainly can be a caricature of someones else vision.
But I'm an elf
Sometimes I want to play as a stinky stupid human just to see what it's like
london
>the guy that picks human male warrior
Since when can rats climb walls?
she looks super ghetto fabulous
Well, you right... You forgot about reptilian and jewelf.
>You wouldn't play a character like yourself because you are boring and don't have any practical skills, it's not rocket science.
>Playing someone similar to yourself is harder and requires more imagination than playing as someone or something completely different
>No, I'm saying that because emulating a completly alien mindset properly is fucking impossible.
>So you shouldn't even try because trying something different is boring and unimaginative, imagination is about only doing and thinking things that you already do
I think the core conceit to the confusion is that you are either completely retarded or fail utterly at trying to convey your point. How is playing yourself in a video game more imaginative than playing pretend and being someone completely different?
life
>Not playing mage in a fantasy setting
>Not playing hacker in cyberpunk
>Not playing genius half-ogre in Arcanum
WTF are you even doing
I don't play wow, what's the meme with this guy?
spellsword-battlemage master race
nerd bitch get the fuck out before you get blown the fuck out
Humans > short humans, humans with deformed ears or any other kind of "TOTALLY NOT HUMANS"
youtube.com
since last week
he's basically a 24-year-old shitposter in the body of an old man
Most people are boring and afraid of changes.
I would if they were cute and skin colored. But they're ugly and green.
>not playing a human paladin who seeks to remove the impure from the world
>How is playing yourself in a video game more imaginative than playing pretend and being someone completely different?
I never said it's more imaginative, I said it might result in a better overall experience than failed attempts and trying to emulate something you cannot truly understand to the full extent.
If you are playing as, I dunno, an elf, you are still in fact just a human emulating elf behaviour. Elf NPC you meet are going to be actual elves though, because they act precisely as the creator meant elves to be and act. Unless you are the creator you cannot reproduce that.
But whatever floats your boat. I prefer things to be cohesive.
Probably the most often repeated thing on Sup Forums in these threads.
Cleanse yourself first.
Green is beautiful
I would literally always pick skeleton if the option was available.
>not playing as a human on a quest to have a harem of all female races
faggots like you are only seeking attention trying to play as a muh speshul snowflake race
Well they're easier to add when you barely have any kind of customization. With 3D models and tons of character customization, you have to edit nearly every piece of gear to look at least somewhat decent on a beast race since they usually have a somewhat different physiology than others. That's why it mostly boild down to human, green human and tiny human.
>I never said it's more imaginative
You said it was boring, the opposite of imaginative.
I was just shitposting at you at first but your intimation that playing pretend is somehow more boring than just being yourself is absurd to me.
Your example with the elf delves into the argument of authorial intent versus reader response. That's obviously something that's subjective as to which you respect more. In my experience I don't give a flying fuck what the author's intent was, my playthrough, my story. I take this approach to TES games because I no longer care about the lore which half the time ends up being as shitty and half-baked as whatever I could imagine on the spot. Molag Bal sounded so cool before I actually met him.
And you're right that it's just based on preference and a more cohesive narrative experience has its own appeal, but don't you try to pretend that you're being more creative by just being yourself but in a different place.
that sound hilarious
the most boring shit you can ever do, i blame 40kfags mostly for that.
>muh xeno scum
>muh pure hyooman
fuck off boringshit
>speshul snowflake race
better than being boringfag ERP'ing with other losers
You don't come back as a skelly but kindoms of amalur starts you off in a corpse pit
Yeah, then the gameplay made me want to go back too.
I wanna be a fabulous skeleton warrior with an arsenal of weapons and armors.
Like this
I play human warrior and use my rl name.
end yourself
If it's an MMO, specifically one I intend to RP in and depending on the races, I usually opt for human.
If I can relate to it and RP it effectively I'll pick it
also to get my purging paladin on
DEUS VULT.
>playing non-humans
>40kfag
leave and never return
