NEW METRO GAME

New Metro game was confirmed earlier today after the English translation of METRO 2035 was finally released online

What d'you guys want from it? A lot of calls for a non-linear sandbox style game but probably not likely considering it'll be continuing Artyom's story

A free-play mode that let's you play as a Stalker is all I ask for

is it the last game?

It's the last part of Artyom's Trilogy, but not sure if last Metro game

Less on-rails
Less QTE
Better Stealth

It doesn't necessarily need to be open world, but the last game was way too 'rigid' in terms of gameplay.
Also, both games have horrible stealth.

Also reminder that Last Light's KSHATRIYA DLC is one of the GOAT DLCs of all time

>you can go stalkan
>have to start from scratch with shit weapons and armour
>level is huge by DLC standards and bigger than any of the standard game's
>genuinely takes a few hours to complete
>fucking librarians

Definitely not open world. Both 2033 and last light were great, but a mix of both rather than moving further from either would be my preference

Why is it called 2035, they didn't make 2034 yet. Last Light has no relevance to 2034 if I recall correctly.

more surface world gameplay PLEASE

Last Light was going to be 2034, but they changed it so much that it end up being a completely different thing from the book.

I thought you were baiting, and it's real. This is a happy day

Its going to be open world, they already pretty much confirmed it

You misunderstood. Metro 2035 is the new entry in the book series. There's no name for the new game yet.

Keeping in mind the games aren't direct adaptations of the novels. 2034 is a standalone entry that exists on its own. 2035 supposedly takes some elements from the Last Light game

Yes pls

This is one of the few times I wish the game is open world.
I want STALKAN back.

Sorry, shoulda posted sauce;

The devs did say they were working on something open-world but that doesn't automatically mean Metro. I'm not sure how big the studio is though, could they realistically split into two teams?

Wait what?
Gimme hub stations to move between.
Less modern bullshit (Melee, Grenade, and knive buttons)
Inventory system.
Wait there's DLC?

One open world scale world of moscow and all the stations please. Doesn't have to be 1:1 just the entire metro and the surface world above it.

I am usually opposed to open worlds because the majority of them do it wrong but Stalker is one of the few that got it right and the sequel is never happening so it would be nice if this Metro sequel went open world. These guys were ex stalker devs anyway.

Did anyone notice a little drop in quality with Last Light and redux? As in design? The controls kind of sucked and the combat felt less in depth.

Seemed very, dare I say, "consolized"

fuck the surface
open world is the white whale of every game
don't make stealth a grandma's game
stop having moments where you gotta hold the line and kill like 20 rad dog mutant monsters and waste your ammo

It could work, but it could end up being another generic open world game like many others.
Metro games are too detailed to be open world and I doubt 4A would give up on this detail obsession to give space to open world.

Hub stations like said and more flexible gameplay like said would be ideal

For Last Light? Like four DLC packs, all bretty gud#

The Faction Pack alone gives you;
>Kshatriya (stalking above Metro collecting artifacts)
>Heavy Squad (wave survival as Reich super trooper)
>Sniper Team (snoipan/infiltration as Red Army sniper)

Nah it totally was.
>Grenade is now a hotkey you can't even hold.
>Same with throwing knives.
>Machete weapon is now a hotkey and sucks.

Yes. They weren't really narrative DLC but pretty fun. You didn't play them as Artyom but instead other characters from various factions.

Metro 2035 will now feature Ranger Vision™ to help you seek out your enemies and maintain your stealth.

Holy fuck I got the Redux version of LL and never even knew that it had DLC.
Is it like an option in the menus or do you reach the missions ingame?

how much of the russian metro lines were actually used in the games? i think using the entirety of the metro system as the map would be baller as fuck.

YES. Not only was using throwables less satisfying they were harder to use efficiently. Also, having your knife as a hotkey is boring.

Hopefully the new game doesn't dumb down things even more.

Do the Redux versions come with these DLCs? Because I never notice them

If it's like LL, it'll be shit. If it's like the original Metro, it'll be fantastic.

They revealed their other game and its a scifi VR game

Not much, and the Metro series' metro is based on the 2002 Moscow1s metro system, which is even more incomplete

A bunch of them. All the station names are the same or a translation/synonym like Exhibtion instead of Vystavka Dostizheniy Narodnogo Khozyaystva (VDNKh).

Outside some of the main central lines and stations, only a tiny portion. Which is why an open world game would be amazing, as you could brave some of the abandoned lines or search for ways into the closed off ones

Oh huh, so maybe it will be Metro then?

Original Metro is best Metro. LL and Redux gameplay was shit. Atmosphere was slightly poorer as well and writing was too good guy/bad guy instead of being more realist.

What did you do to pic related?

I let him live, he was my friend ;_;

>as you could brave some of the abandoned lines or search for ways into the closed off ones
That would be nice, but that would also interfere with the canon of the series as even Dmitry Glukhovsky himself didn't give proper use to most these station, and probably plan to use them in future works

>tried to replay this game on new 16:9 screen
>different mouse speed for X and Y axis
>can't fix it

Only SoC got it right imo. And that's because it wasn't entirely open world. The levels were more like hubs, open enough to make it feel real but not open to the point that it's all useless land filled with nothing.

CoP fell for the bigger is better meme. They
kinda-sort tried to go around "big empty world" problem by littering the maps with a few areas of interests, so that you're never too far from something to do, but it all felt too artificial, too gamey. Like the entire land formed itself to try and accommodate the players. Of course most of those areas of interests weren't really interesting either, so it ultimately still felt big and empty.

Metro 2033 was originally going to follow the hub world design. I really hope they go that route again.

From what I can tell from the site 2035 and the last game are supposed to be a conclusion to the story.

Or 2035 is just a conclusion to Artyom's story. The surface is thawing and everything and it seems like the plan is to go topside.

Metro is a lame series

>it should be open world
Literally fuck off. Open world sacrifices narrative and atmosphere and you can all go get shafted. Metro is about delivering a tight and engaging and well-paced narrative combined with claustrophobic and visceral gameplay.

Not digging through a million identical containers for meaningless loot in fetch quests.

Confirmed for never playing original 2033.

>The Metro 2033 series of novels are huge in Russia and Eastern Europe, but only two of them (Metro 2033 and Metro 2034), have been translated into English
>The maps provided in the translations aren't great, and there's a vast amount of information from the 50+ novels in the series that isn't included

reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/comments/2udms8/oc_a_map_of_the_postnuclear_moscow_metro_system/

I just googled to find an up to date map of the series and found this, what the fuck, +50 novels?

FUCK ARTYOM
Welcome to Deep Silver publishing.

Yeah, Redux comes with most, if not all dlc. Well for the 2033 and LL bundle at least, since I bought that.

There's an option in one of the menu's to access the DLC. Yes the Redux comes with them all

Why is nobody complaining about about X,Y axis sensitivity?

Am I the only sane person here?

I killed everyone. Everyone that crossed me deserved to die to prevent even more deaths. They should've known this after messing with a Ranger, the one that blew up all the homo nuvos no less.

No one played the game in fucking 4:3 aspect ratio

The author basically gave the okay for people to write their own stories set within the Metro and publish them. I think there's a handful of fan translations but they're meant to be fairly mediocre

Fanfiction basically. I don't know if they all get approved by the author though but some do as far as I know.

One was even referenced in the Church in Last Light the story about the plane in St. Petersburg.

Try maxing out the FoV and deal with SHIT gameplay.

I liked the linearity of 2033, 2034 was way to much on rails.

I would like large maps with multiple routes.

A total open world would only mean alot of copy-paste segments, but the abillity to backtrack would be nice as long as it doesnt conflict with the story line.

More spooky shit in abandoned parts of the metro.

And bring back the weapon system of the original 2033.

I noticed it but got over it after the first section with Bourbon.

But the only reason I didn't notice the problem at first was because I've played it in 4:3.

You should have all noticed it.

hundreds of interconnected tunnels that have holes up to the surface which is a fuck huge urban area

>2034 was way to much on rails
>game about subway system
>on rails

oh you

>And bring back the weapon system of the original 2033.

The most important aspect that probably wont happen.

So, apparently he doesn't give a fuck to canon, make it all open world meme then

I was under the impression that 2035 was Last Light, that he wrote Last Light first to be made as a game and then made the book for it.

Yup. It's been a problem since Metro 2033 and there's no real way to fix it.

You can try using QL Mouse Accel Driver and upping the y-axis sensitivity to accommodate for it. You can even setup a profile so that it automatically makes the necessary changes when you launch Metro.

I bought Redux on a whim but apparently it's shit? What's so bad about it?

Nothing

Well...
TL;DR: The combat mechanics and overall mechanics were dumbed down. On top of that so were some of the lighting effects.

>some of the lighting effects
That's an understatement, Redux versions look plain worse than the originals

>Trump nukes Putin
>Metro series starts

Let it begin.

Oh baby. I know what I'm going to celebrate Trump avoiding nuclear holocaust with.

>durrrr what's MAD?
No wonder your country is so fucking retarded.

>>durrrr what's MAD?
>implying MAD isn't what happened in Metro

Erm, what?

I'm really hoping we get a game like 2033, LL was way to arcadey and straight up goofey at times, stealth felt less rewarding.

>stealth felt less rewarding
LL stealth was too easy I agree, but 2033 stealth was straight up bullshit, every enemy had super senses in that shit

It was hard as fuck but do able. I personally preferred LL but I don't think 2033 was that bad

>New Metro game was confirmed earlier today

source?

...

I see a site about the book with an excerpt from it
Where is the mention of a game?

Scroll down nigga

derp
thanks user
hope they won't do something stupid like change developer
I was under the impression 4A was working on a space game

Fuck open world, but I would like to see bigger levels which can be completed in more than one way. And of course improved stealth.

Nowadays open world is as bad as an extremely linear game.
I think what would best suit the series is what you said, a linear game with multiple branches, and even maybe an option to backtrack like some other user said early

>I was under the impression 4A was working on a space game

They announced a VR game called Arktika.1 recently. They said it's just one of two projects being worked on though, with maybe one more on the way.

Something that plays more like the first and not Last Light

test

how's 2035 book if anyone read?

how's 2035 book if anyone read?

would be pretty great

I just finished Underrail and I would not mind having Metro 2035 being 3D Underrail, of course with emphasis on FPS gameplay rather than RPG.
Multiple outposts and underground towns, sprawling caves, multiple factionss.

>free-play mode that let's you play as a Stalker

It's a completely differemt game and you want to turn it into stalker? Just go play stalker you fucking idiot, faggots like you are the reason most video game franchises are ruined, for some reason devs listen to retards who play one game but want to actually play another game.

Literally this

At least tell me it's the same team that made Metro 2033 and Last Light. I don't want another Mafia 3.

I love a bit of metro. I hope they don't fall for the open world meme.

Branching paths with different approaches > open world with fast travel and map markers

i'm consolefag and i preferred the first game gameplaywise

Why is the original considered better than redux? Can I still buy the originals? Steam only has redux.

Hyped. Metro2033 is one of my favorite books, and I liked putting a picture to the story. I wouldn't mind a bit of open world-iness, maybe the outside would open up after a more linear story?

I'll buy new game and throw all money if it supports sandbox multiplayer.
I can happily die.

I read the polish translation, and dont know if the english one fucks something up. The book is solid but it doesnt feel like a metro story, artyom meeting homer and sasha feels forced as fuck. Also the second half of the book completely rapes the lore. If youre craving for more just read it.

Emerald city. They kept teasing it in 2034 and I want to see if anything is happening there

Didn't it turn up to be a scam?

No one knows for sure:
>The Emerald City is a half-mythical state rumored to exist in the three cut-off deep stations below the Moscow State University, where all the scientists from the University dwell, governed by Deans and the Rector. This rumour is only that, since no one, not even the Red Line, knows what is out there, however, it gets passed around in the still-surviving intelligentsia circles. However, there is no reason why there could not be survivors in those stations - deep enough to avoid radiation and mutants, while having access to the surface, former students and teachers could live there well enough with the knowledge of the old world.

Are the books worth it?
The setting is really fucking interesting to me.
Are they similar to Roadside Picnic?

Would you say it makes fps shooters great again?
