2>Citadel DLC>1>3

I have to say i love 2 the most but i like 3 as well because it has more fun gameplay, enemies etc.

2 felt just stable and comfy, 3 not as much but it was a lot more interesting with new enemies and stuff

1 was shit though i agree

1>Anthony Burch>2>

shit>>3>1
get better taste in games, faggot

Also, posting best girl

>Goes into a thread about a game he hates just to complain
???

>People putting 2 and 3 before 1
What has this board come to, jesus christ.

People are getting tired of pretending that 1 is good.

1 wasn't good. It was boring and had shot gameplay.
>m-muh rpg!
It was still absolute trash outside of the decision making which 2 did and did it better with amazing gameplay.
2>3/1

Well, we have to agree to disagree. Different generations have different tastes, I guess.

atmosphere 1 > 3 > 2
main quest 1 > 3 > 2
visual design 1 > 3 > 2
level design 3 > 2 > 1
sidequests 3 >= 2 > 1
characters 2 > 3 > 1
dlc 2 > 3 > 1
soundtrack 1 > 3 > 2
gameplay 3 >>> 2 >>>>>>>>>>> 1
writing 2 > 3 > 1
ending 1 > 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3

argue if you want but it's in vain, you know I'm right

Sounds about right to me senpai

>people thinking 1 is the worst

Am I in hell?

>ME3 Atmosphere over 2
>ME3 Soundtrack over 2
Wrong on both counts queer boy

Seems right

SO GOOD

I would argue that 3 had better atmosphere until the later half. It did a damn good job making everything feel hopeless.

Why did Thane have to die off? He was one of the most interesting characters in the series, yet he was giving a "only 3 mouths to live" subplot that was not fucking necessary. HE WAS IN ME3 FOR ONE FUCKING CUTSCENE
>HEY, LETS MAKE A ASSASSIN FROM A BRAND NEW SPECIES, AND LETS HAVE HIM FOLLOW A SPECIAL CODE, BUT FOR THE FUN OF IT, LETS FUCKING KILL HIM FOR NO FUCKING REASON

>writing 2 > 3 > 1
You mean dialogue or story?

1>2>3 unless you're a cuck

Post the full pic.

>>ME3 Atmosphere over 2
>>ME3 Soundtrack over 2
>Wrong on both counts queer boy

Both ME3 and ME1 have the "race against time" factor going for them. In ME2 you're just hanging around doing this whole inconsequential sidequest shit just waiting for the next Collector encounter to pop up. Writing took a nosedive from the mostly optimistic scifi vibe from ME1 to a grimdark and grimy tone in 2 without it actually feeling justified like 3 where shit is actually going down, since 2 is just one giant sidequest and could be cut from the franchise without it affecting the overall plot at all. Arrival is the only actually story relevant part of 2.

I don't even know what to say to the soundtrack bit. Are you rating it highly due to the orchestral themes? Those are the only ones I even bother listening to from ME2 soundtrack. ME3 mimics 1 more in tone while adding its own piano leitmotifs which is why I rate it second best.
I'll concede that music is a purely subjective attribute, I just don't see any merit in the soundtrack of 2.

Bioware hated frogposters before they became endemic

Generally dialogue and such. 1 has extremely awkward conversations while 3 feels almost hammy at parts, although it's almost equal to 2.

This is about right, with a few nitpicks.

story is 1>3>2
gameplay is 3>2>1

Pretty much

Nah, it's roughly 1 = 2 = 3 honestly. All have good and bad parts.
ME1 combat, while a fun idea with the RPG mechanics, played like shit with the clunky controls and strange animations plus the incredibly overpowered biotics. It required radical rebalancing. Sidequests were garbage for the most part, outside of main quests every single location had the same prefab buildings and it all blended together into a samey mess. Characters were underdeveloped with the loredump rubber forehead girls, mandatory boring Bioware human male companion and mandatory human female romance option with only Garrus and Wrex not feeling like checkmarks on some committee designed main cast list. Main quest however was quite hype and the ride to the ending (Virmire > Ilos > Citadel) is the best part of the series. Visual design was the best in the series with the 80's scifi inspired visuals and soundtrack was the greatest with the classic scifi synths.

Mass Effect 2

THE OTHERS DID NOT HAPPEN, FUCK EM

Why couldn't I romance a turian or krogan girl? Why is Bioware so intolerant Sup Forums?

Comparing characters between games seems pointless since most of them are in multiple games.

ME2 scrapped the ME1 combat that had potential and replaced it with a hip and cool Gears of War combat that while feeling much smoother than 1, limited active power usage and made every class feel ultimately very samey. Only Infiltrator and Vanguard actually feel different, and only Vanguard feels like an evolution from 1 rather than a sidestep. Sidequests were actually good and took place on more varied environments than just cloned prefabs on low settings Space Engine planets although it obviously felt more constrained. Loyalty quests were the best part of the game. Main quest was a useless sidestep because they had already committed to the trilogy format. Visual design lost the more interesting elements of 1.

Racist Redneck got a facelift for ME3

You can still compare the quality of the writing in each individual title. For example, Beef McLargeHuge from 3 is still a better written character than Kaidan from 1, despite Kaidan being present in all titles. Bioware evolved although not always in a better direction.

>Introduce the best waifu in Mass Effect 3 and she's a turian
>Kill her off for no reason

>That writing tier

I'm sorry but I gotta disagree whole heartedly
1>2>3

No way 2 can be great with that fucking boss fight at the end and that putrid explanation of collectors/reapers

I still think this was one of the best closing credit songs to a video game.

>people complaining that ME2 is popular
>all these fucking new kids not knowing that the board was dedicated to ME2 Tali and ME2 in general for a real fucking long time years ago

Fucking normies.

Why does everyone keep saying 3>2>1 in terms of gameplay? It's pretty much the same between all games. The only difference is 2 and 3 have a shitty auto-aim that can't be turned off.

It was a strange time, especially when Sup Forums discovered Robot Unicorn Attack a bit later.

>2s writing over 1
>Fucking 3s writing over 1
Already demonstrably retarded, 1s writing was the best and the fucking foundation of the entire universe. Didnt have stupid shit like dead Shepard, people juice Reaper and 80% of ME3.

>3s atmosphere over 2
2 takes you to a veriety of hub worlds. 3 takes you to the Citadel.
2 also introduced the fish tank mood lighting quarters and the God damn Illusive Man.

Battle Tits

2 > 3 > 1 is absolutely correct. OP was not a fag this time.

One had the best story, by far, but the gameplay is such a fucking hot mess and aged like dog shit. The Mako was one of the worst things I've ever driven in any game. It literally made me quit the game.
I'm glad I got it on ps3 and got to skip one and do the interactive comic.

ME3 > ME1 > ME2

The only thing that matters honestly, is that the waifus in ME:A are gonna have their tits out and not like the other ME's

Thank you based DA:I

Project overlord was so fucking good.

youtube.com/watch?v=pgYM8uRcsIA

By writing I meant dialogue, probably could have specified that better. Actual plot structure was under main quest.

>Bioware prides itself on being progressive
>Can't homo romance Krogen, Turian or a cripple

ME3's Race against time was Race until the shitty writing kicks in.

You're thinking about the big dumb Orchestral theme near the end, I'm thinking towards Jack, Grunt and Mordin's theme.

1>2>3

This looks like it could be cropped porn.

Fuck it, I'm replaying ME.

Anything I should grab while I re-download ME1?

That one hires pack that makes everything look great but crashes your game in certain parts and then you gotta look up a fix for it which then takes 5-10 minutes until you realise you have to disable the patch at key parts in the game to progress before turning it back on for those sweet sweet 4k textures

The first one had pretty lame level design and gameplay, but at least it's story wasn't a crapshoot like the other two. Writing in that game pleasantly surprised me considering Bioware, then the other two were pretty much exactly what I would have expected from them.

Some brandy

>4k
Anything non-meme related?

I only have Vodka.

Mass Effect 1 was an okay RPG and a terrible shooter. mass Effect 2 was a terrible RPG and a terrible shooter.

Aside from the junk ending is ME3 fun to play? I don't have my old save file anymore so I'd be playing fresh.

He's a top contender for my favorite squadmate, user. I feel your feels.

when I say 4k I dont mean the meme resolution for monitors, i mean 4096x4096 textures which look fantastic

Different entries in the series had differing qualities of character writing, with most characters being written better as the games progressed. Garrus, for instance, was a lot more interesting and likable in ME2 and 3, as was Kaiden, Ashley, Tali, Liara, etc. Really, there was very little of substance to the party members from 1 aside from Wrex.

There were exceptions -- Legion in 3 comes to mind -- but Bioware did, overall, substantially improve in writing characters as the series progressed. Even the most marginal of ME2's party members were more engaging than the majority of your party in ME1, and for all the flak Beef BigChunks gets, he was probably the most entertaining and likable for the amount of character time and development invested among the human companions (Zaeed excluded).

ME3 Multiplayer > All desu

4K textures aren't the same as the 4K marketing of televisions and monitors

Yeah but if it's going to be a hassle like says I'll settle for smaller ones.

>3
>better than anything

(you)

That noise the harrier and hurricane makes when fired from across the map made it all worth it.

Bring Down The Sky was pretty good.

Don't get Pinnacle Station.

>Writing took a nosedive from the mostly optimistic scifi vibe from ME1 to a grimdark and grimy tone in 2

The thing I liked the most about ME was its optimistic nature, some quests like the Thorian felt like good Star Trek episodes.

All I wanted was to explore strange new worlds and encounter new civilizations, not save the world with sad piano music playing in the background and everyone worshipping me like I'm space jesus.

MEIOU (or whatever) is worth it. Personally didn't get any crashes relating to it.

For ME2 and 3 I just make my own Coalesced edits.

Yes. ME3 gameplay is actually rather underappreciated, especially if you play the less conventional classes; Vanguard was the most fun I've had in an action game in ages. The multiplayer in particular was fantastic, and I think there's still an active playerbase on it to this day.

There was nothing wrong with it, the middle act is always the "dark chapter" and it fit that theme of classic storytelling perfectly, not to mention the game took place in the fucking terminus systems.

Not to mention it still had that optimism it was just surrounded by more grimness, but it always still came through.

>finally a female Turian out of all these Quarians and Asari
>dies

I really hope more Drell show up for Andromeda

Since Krogan are probably in the Nexus (which sounds like it has other various races who decided to come along instead of just council races like the other arks)

Drell are the most underappreciated race

Kinda unrelated question, I am new to the Mass Effect franchise. Do people actually read the Codex? I listen to the stuff in the Primary Codex Tab, but there is a shit ton more information/lore to read in the Secondary Tab. How do you deal with all that information as an rpg-fan? It is overwhelming but at the same time I don't like skipping stuff.

If it interests you, read it. If it doesn't, don't read it.

Mass Effect was special because of the Codex. Even though it's present in 2 and 3, I rarely ever touch them, only the first one.

Who here willing to buy a 5$ appearance pack to face lift PB?

If by written better you just mean outright revamped into different characters then sure. Liara was the was the most blatant example, but they basically just revamped all the characters with new personalities to give them more appeal. The latter two games were more character driven overall, so sure they fleshed them out a bit more, but at the same time they also felt more contrived to be cooler. Personally liked the more flawed characters in the original, especially Ashley, though obviously in the minority on that.

I usually read the codex after a quest or two, that way you don't get overwhelmed and you have time to process the information, better than just reading everything in one go and forgetting all about it later, or worse, get bored.

Also just read the things that interest you, feel like reading about the Quarians? Go ahead, but if you don't give a shit about them, then don't force yourself to read it.

this is easy:

1 - best story
2 - best characters
3 - best gameplay (seriously 1 played like ass)
1 - best mako

so that all adds up to 1 > 2 = 3

>MEUITM
I'm trying to install this.

It says to run the LAA.exe file to my MassEffect.exe file, but uh, I can't find that in my Steam folder
Is it the Mass Effect Launcher, or am I retarded?

You are wrong.
THIS is a fact.

I usually go tali but if Joker was romancable I would totally go gay every time

NEVERMIND FOUND IT I'M RETARDED

More like Andromeda = best mako
So 1 = 2 = 3 = 4

THEN I GUESS THAT MAKES ME A KEK

They're all bad games, but Vanguard in ME2 is the only reason to touch this series. ME1 had promise and 2 shit all over that, but 1 on its own isn't anything special.

ME1 = Star Trek TNG
ME2 = Star Trek DS9
ME3 = Star Trek Generations
MEA = Star Trek Voyager

Any footage of the new Mako?
Fingers fucking crossed.

Also any way to get download codes for the pre-order stuff for ME2? I know they handed that shit out awhile ago but I missed my chance.

Atmosphere 1>2>3
Main quest agreed
Visual design 2>3>1
Level design 1>3>2
Sidequests 2>3>1
Characters agreed
DLC 3>2>1
Soundtrack I personally like all of them for different reasons
Gameplay agreed
Writing 2>1>3
Ending 2>1>>>>>>>>>>

ME2 had space terminator and sexy Michael Jackson with a BIG ASS so that one is the best

I wish you could disable the narrator, I read faster than he speaks and it distracts me. It's why I prefer the secondary codex.

Edit your coalesced thing

Obviously
I'm stuck playing on the Xbox though

At least I have plenty of time to post while I'm in the elevators

Oh man. I really can't trust bioware at all anymore, but I want Adromeda to be good so fucking bad.

My head's got two different sides clashing real hard over this shit. Bioware has made some really questionable decisions on their most recent games, but the prospect of Andromeda somehow pulling out that miraculous 10/10 experience has me hoping.

>hating based Neil Ross

His voice is great, but I'd rather read at my usual speed than wait for a narrator. I can't stand audiobooks.

Did somebody say Miranda?

That's not Jack.

Based off of the biomes we got in DAI, I expect the same from MEA with big open spaces for the new vehicle. Worst case scenario, that is.

>that one time Miranda-mancers got the entire waifu board on the Bio forums shut down
