westfall is the best WoW zone
hands down
>climatic as fuck
>best music
>best vanilla dungeon
>first alliance dungeon
>memorable NPC's like huh or Vulturos
>one of the did nothing wrong core, Edwin van Cleef
Westfall is the best WoW zone
true
i know
Shame cata fucked it to hell
I preferred that spooky one that was right next to it. I forget what it was called. Duskwood? Super comfy and just a stone's throw away from westfall too IIRC
youtube.com
I'm partial to the NE starting area. Dwarf area starter area was also super comfy and mysterious.
It was called duskwood and they all were a stone's throw away from each other.
This and mulgore were the comfiest places to start out in.
man I loved the dwarf area.
>walking along a comfy snowy road
>get to the first villiage and hang out in the tavern
>go hunt bears and get your first hunter pet cat pets are best pets
>finally make it to ironforge and marvel at how big the fucking thing is
>wander around loch modon before realizing no one fucking ever went there and leveling in that one area with the boat to the horde area was it southshore? I remember it being kind of a swampy area with the main town in a peninsula
I preferred Duskwood because of it's Ravenloft style atmosphere pre-Cataclysm.
Post-Cataclysm Westfall is my favorite of the original zones though. The murder mystery, dealing with shady people to get information, infiltrating enemy territory to figure out their plans, trying to help with the problem with the homeless/poor in Westfall, and the twist at the very end that ties it all together.
Nevermind I'm thinking of the Wetlands for that last part
youtube.com
Tirisfal still does it for me ten years later. Don't know why but it does.
Best zone aesthetically was Silithus.
all it takes is 5 notes
5 notes to make all those wonderful memories come back like they were just yesterday.
I'd love to see old WoW zones re-created in something like the SC2 engine. I really want a sequel or something modern for WoW. The HotS models give a good glimpse at it.
Really wish they had left Dun Morogh the fuck alone
It was where I started the game
Fuck Blizzard
I remember playing WoW more then my own childhood.
I didn't know people even liked loch modan. Every single time I went there it was devoid of other players
...
More like shittiest.
STV and Wetlands were by far the best, especially back before blizzard removed dynamic weather. (????)
Fuck Blizzard.
FUCK THEM
...
He thinks he wants to, but he doesnt
I thought the plaguelands were pretty cool
>Tirion's quest
>Andorhal quests
>Darrowshire
>Naxx floating in the distance
>the trap pools of blood
This hits too close to home.
Like, my heart has an ache that it hasn't felt in years.
Were we only able to turn back the clock.
He even says he tried it but he didn't like it.
That's Blizzards point
Reboot sequel to World of Warcraft when?
We can't turn back the clock, user. Only look towards the future
then we can get the technology to relive our past
Aesthetically, Teldrassil, Ashenvale and Hyjal are the best.
Worst zone is hands down Desolace in every way.
Aesthetically shit, one graveyard a billion miles from nowhere and fucking tedious location of quest givers.
Loch Modan was ass. Improved for the better
I loved Vanilla but i know that experience will never come back.
The game was tons of fun just by the virtue of server community and the fact nobody knew what the fuck was going on.
>you will never sit in Dalaran for 14 hrs a day while scrubs cream their panties over your grand black war mammoth ever again
Never. Blizzard is dead, and Activision has no interest in doing it. They'll just milk WoW until it dies.
so basically he wants to be 12 again, not old WoW. How typical
My theory is that they will do a HD Remake of Vanilla, but also fix some of the tedious bullshit about Vanilla and put it on the latest version of the engine.
As much as Vanillafags circlejerk over everything being "pristine" there are lots of small annoying as fuck issues with Vanilla that could be fixed and easily make the game better to play.
Did you guys ever try and sneak into that one dwarven airport after seeing it on G4? I did. I also tried to sneak into hyjal way back when and it blew my mind when I found out that you fucking STARTED in hyjal on some custom servers.
Oh and there was a goddamn GM ISLAND. Fuck there were so much cool shit to discover in that game. Why is datamining a thing now it fucking ruins all secrecy
>didn't have the money to play it since I was 12 when it came out
>South Park episode and general pop culture reputation kept me away from it as a teen
>had a blast on Nost despite all of that
I mean I get the people for who it's more about the memory than the game but I still had fun with vanilla as an adult in 2015. It's a shame we have to deal with volatile private servers since Blizzard will never gives us what we think we want (but obviously don't).
Wall-walking was my shit until it was patched out in like 1.1
Instead of raiding, I explored, especially trying to get to places I wasn't "supposed" to go.
The one I use quite a bit is the plateau above the WSG entrances, just stand up there and reign hell down upon players waiting below.
>Old orgrimmar architecture.
>Beautiful, comfy, and perfectly captures the spirit of the Horde.
>HURR LETS MAKE EVERYTHING METAL HURR
I fucking hate nu-BLizzard and I fucking hate Cataclysm.
If you guys are worried about everyone knowing what to do on private servers don't worry it's mostly just the people on here, there's tons of people playing Vanilla for the first time on there and I'm fucking hyped for Nost to come back.
>Explored old Gilneas, the mountains behind Deathknell, empty Quel'thalas, under stormwind, the airport, and Karazhan crypts with my sister and friends.
TIME TAKE ME BACK
...
wtf i like vanilla now
>muh nostalgia
Nigga they were called THE IRON HORDE for a reason. Like shit were you not paying attention what was happening to Horde at the time? Nah you weren't. You're another nostalgia ridden idiot who also has the delusion that modern WoW is more casual when most people left when Cataclysm started because of how much more skill based everything got and thus how much harder everything got in general in the endgame.
>Farming scarecrows in Westfall and Skeletons in Duskwood thinking it was more efficient
>Worst zone is hands down Desolace in every way.
This is wrong. That troll village on the coast was the very definition of comfy.
HUH
Even if you hated Cataclysm, you gotta admit that it did damn good for zones like Stonetalon and Desolace by making them far more interesting
>Go to STV at lvl 30-35
>It Aint Me starts playing
HAHA epic bro, those new legion raids are all shit, just dudes standing around no difficulty, not like the good old vanilla stuff.
arathi, hinterlands, ashenvale, feralas, so many good zones, elysium can't come soon enough
>The Arena
>The fishing tournaments
F U K T
U
K
T
>memorable NPC's like huh
>switch to sword n board
>shield bash
>switch back to 2h hammer or sword
>hamstring when they're low on health
I don't see what the problem with defias mobs is.
I would've been all square with Cata if it didn't take forever for any content to actually release. By week four, most people had done pretty much everything. 5 months later we get ZG and ZA five man. WAT
>Class quests are gone
>Epic quest chains are gone
>Group content is a joke
>World PvP is dead and buried
>Vanilla world is dead and gone forever
>Blizzard keeps making the game easier
>But puts stuff behind weekly timers/time gated quests to keep people logging in
>Loot system is beyond fucked with rolls upon rolls upon rolls
>Legendaries are now completely randomly received and vary from either complete gamechangers to completely fucking useless and you don't get to choose which one you get
>Blizzard has become total anti-fun, toys and costumes have huge restrictions on them now
>No more server first races
>Keeps some stuff in game and arbitrarily removes some things forever
I never got my Swift Zulian tiger or Razzashi Raptor after literally years of trying once I figured out how to solo the bosses on my shaman.
All my bitching and moaning aside, Azshara was the best zone. Comfy atmosphere, dangerous, all sorts of random high level stuff going on that made you want to get to the end and discover whats in store... I'd commit to a vanilla server but I suspect the magic is gone.
>Log onto Skype
Oh, so he's having fond nostalgia over Nu Wow.
im crying
>iron horde is the same as horde
wodbabby detected
It was an elite
That could run away
And pull other elites
And chuck elite fireballs at you from a distance
There were also stealthed elites
Fuck it
>playing Alliance
For many, but as someone who played Nost for ages, then moved over to Kronos, there is a sizable population that do.
Pillagers were never elite no? Unless you're talking about the ones near the tower, or inside the cave
One area was tailored for rogues to sneak.
The other is meant for a party to truck through.
i sort of identify with this.
early WoW during adolescence was entrancing. it seems like i'll never feel anything similar to the experience again.
>Go to STV
>Spend 90% of my time stealthed and underwater
tfw nobody agrees with you
nothing personal, kid
We're talking about Moonbrooke, right? Outside of Deadmines? Elites everywhere senpai. They were only downgraded from being Elite in mid-Wrath.
>Wodbab fails to understand lore
>Strawmans as hard as he physically can because he is upset and doesn't know why.
>Playing a furry, a green nigger, a hippy or a reanimated corpse
Seek help, friendo.
Barrens and STV will always be GOAT. Westfall is pretty close though
>STV at 35
>No fucks given because I'm a Shaman who can walk on water.
Mind you, all I did was fishing.
That ain't no Tirisfal Glades fuccboi.
>go to STV
>playing a warrior and anything could potential kill you at any moment due to close packed mobs or opposite faction and there is little you could do
The worst part was I never wanted to be there. Both times I spent any extended time there was due to helping out a irl friend (and later a guildie) do his Warrior quest to gather a stupid amount of Troll tusks that have a stupidly low drop rate.
WHATS THE MATTER? DONT YOU LIKE MEMES?
I played through to 60 the first time Nost was alive and I can absolutely say class quests need to make a comeback. Blizzard likes to wank about "class fantasy" but the class quests of vanilla perfectly captured the design of the classes in nearly every case.
Learning to pickpocket at an elite mob in Westfall, traveling to God knows where to capture a powerful demon's soul, assembling a blessed hammer...
That shit was better than any artifact quest you do in 5 minutes. Too bad modern WoW players can't actually sit down and commit the time for something like that again.
That's what I am saying though. Cataclysm is the first signs of the newer Horde that would be called True Horde and then eventually Iron Horde. The idea's still there that Garrosh is more aggressive and nothing like the Horde as we knew it so the new Orgrimmar reflects that.
4.0.3 had four raids you could do. Granted BH only had one boss at the time, but the others were still far tougher than any of their counterparts that existed beforehand. This was even more true pre-nerfs. Not to mention after the 4.1 Five mans, we got the big boy 4.2 Firelands just two months after it.
There are just too many fucking games that kill your heart to know you can never experience them for the first time again. I'd love to experience that amazing feeling I got when I first tried out Ape Escape and found it to not be some silly baby shit. It was sitting in my box of games for like 3 months before I actually finally tried it - can't believe I almost let that one pass under my radar.
Garrosh becomes new leader. Garrosh is aggressive and militaristic as fuck. Orgrimmar changes reflected that. I can't make this any more simple.
cata had good parts, had 4.3 not happened it wouldn't be remember as a trainwreck
just play nost m8s
coming up again in less than a month
>you will never get outrolled on cruel barb by a night elf hunter again
>less than a month
where does it say this?
That's the plan.
Looking forward to Barrens. Centaur chain should be particularly painful.
Poor mans barrens.
>tfw blizzard took almost all utility out of the game
>tfw you thought the combat would become more like Guild Wars 1 with the skill crunch
>tfw battlegrounds and even arenas are beyond boring now
>tfw you fell for the 'combat overhaul' meme
all over the devs website and discord whenever asked about it
stress test on the 20th user, 3 weeks after that approximately, might be less
Westfall, Elwynn, Redridge, Darkshire, hell I even loved STV. That whole area of southern Azeroth is a concentration of comfy nostalgia.
>Restarting vanilla for the 20th time
No thanks bud-e
Kill yourself immediately
Pretty much. The initial backlash was mainly against change regardless of whether or not it's good, but then Dragon Soul essentially validated the haters.
>he doesnt know
the character database is being restored, meaning you get your nost character back
there were never elites in moonbrooke.
in the deadmines and the pathway leading up to it? yes. but never in moonbrooke
>start wow just before the original aq war effort
>love it
>unsub after cataclysm
>years pass
>get diagnosed with cancer (unrelated to cataclysm)
>go through treatment
>hear about Nostalrius
>nowayjose.tga
>sign up
>play as much as I can
>health deteriorating, but nostalgia dulls the pain
>things go south healthwise
>"even if I die I can still play wow till the end, it reminds me of when I was healthy and happy"
>hear about Nostalrius shutting down
>cry myself to sleep that night
>after the shutdown, spend waking hours watching birds
>waiting for blizzcon
>praying for a legacy server announcement
>nothing
>hear about Nostalrius reopening
>might be open in 6 weeks
>don't expect to live that long
I could have spent the last few months of my life happy and distracted but Blizzard's greed had to ruin it
no elites there, only inside the mine
there's still Kronos that's a good vanilla server
most of the pop from nostalrius migrated there
>The lore could have only ever possibly gone one single direction and there is no way something else could have happened in world of asspulls.
>Cata Garrosh
>Iron Horde
