Is it?
Is it gud?

One of the best examples of its genre. Way more deep than it appears to be.
It's amazing for what it is, but that isn't anywhere close to meaning it's for everyone. If you get it, don't expect to be immediately engrossed, chances are you'll be turned off from how shitty everything looks and how unintuitive it seems at a glance. Download the manual, follow along with it to do the tutorial, and then do some games with bots to try to get a hang of things.
After you learn how to play, it's entirely a multiplayer game. Games are played with 5 - ~30 people emailing their turns in to a server, where at the end of the day (or after everyone turns their turn in), the server compiles all the turn files, resolves all of the actions, and then spits back out the next turn file to everyone playing the game. Sounds intimidating, but it's actually a lot of fun.
>After you learn how to play, it's entirely a multiplayer game.
Been playing for nearly 100 hours, and have made 4 of my own nations that see regular play. Never touched multiplayer once. You can have plenty of fun against the ai.
600 hours played here, the AI is a complete joke that employs next to no tactics and requires the use of next to no tactics to defeat. Seriously, you're missing out if you haven't touched multiplayer yet. Get in the /vg/ thread and see if there's any upcoming games recruiting players, you'll thank me later.
>he will never conduct diplomacy and have every one stop squabbling and unite together to crush MA Ermor and then go back to squabbling while bats fuck everyone up.
lmao I bet you main Ulm
Nah, I only play my custom factions.
I would if I had the time. I mod the game more than I actually play it at this point. I haven't sat down to play a full game since last year. For some reason I've just been too busy to sit down and focus on a match. The ai is too easy and I think it would be cool to play the multiplayer, but I'm worried I won't be able to do anything but get a small army wiped immediately and then collapse.
Everyone knows they have to stop bats, but it's never pressing enough to stop people from stabbing each other in the backs until it's too late.
I didn't get it. Too hard.
I love it, wish i had people to play the multiplayer with.
Im so sorry.
A little off topic but is the newest Conquest of Elysium any good?
Dominions is mostly played by people that don't have enough time for other games, mate. The beauty of the play-by-email system is that you only have to sit down for 20 minutes to an hour each day to get your turn done the way you want it, but at the same time you can spend a ton of time theorycrafting and planning each turn, trying to figure out how to take out an underwater death god actively raining armageddon on the world while you cook dinner. I've spent hours combing through the inspector trying to figure out what I want to do and how to go about doing it, and I loved every second of it.
And at the end of the day, the game's anonymous and you don't have to worry about being embarrassed about getting trashed in the first 20 turns of a game because you get a fresh start on the next game, learning from your mistakes and your opponents' successes. I thought I would get shit on in my first game, but I ended up being one of the top 3 powers and it made me really get engrossed in the whole thing.
It's really fun but it's one of those games you have to be slightly autistic to be competitive in multiplayer. Playing vs. computers or coop with friends casually is pretty fun regardless though. It's pretty bonkers everything you can do.
You are right.
Dom4 without the Civ-stuff and you have more control over battles.
Just go to the /vg/ thread and join a game, almost no one plays games with their friends because it's such a niche game that chances are your friends won't enjoy.
4? I have it and its pretty alright. Its too pricy for it's content, but it has some really neat idea I would love to see incorporated into Dominions like elemental planes, the void, underworld and being able to travel to them as a sort of side-mission to get some good shit from them. The whole upgrading commanders based on the power of the spell/rituals they learn is neat. I would also like if Dominions could make certain nations have unique goals like the Voice of El in CoE 4 which can break seals to gain more and more powerful divine help, but breaking more seals unleashes the horsemen of the apocalypse and hell can break free and get to Elysium.

How does my burd look? Wasn't really sure what I was going for with him.
Is there ever any real reason not to take Dormant?
for ebin ERF SNEK memes. Earth Snake is a ridiculously good god to start awake with and expand using the snek.
4 astral is a bad plan, easy to magic duel to death and not high enough for ring crafting. Earth is also far more valuable to Caelum than water.
