The gnasher isn't even a problem. There are other weapons that can instakill at a longer range.

How is judgement's campaign? Played all of them except that one. Just downloaded it since 4 came with a code for it desu.
What are you talking about, i havent played gears since 3 but holy shit gnasher battles were fun as fuck and it always had me at the edge of my seat.
Judgement is horrible, i wouldnt play it even if it was free.

It completely compliments the mechanics and has more depth then almost any other weapon potentially in the series. Its a shame how weak it is in GOW4 but still the strongest spawn weapon since they nerfed rifles into the fucking ground from the beta.
Gears 3 had a perfect balance of rifles and gnasher though.

You could probably count on one hand games with shotguns that are genuinely balanced.
But that design is consistent considering you can stick them to walls.
GOW4 in my opinion has the best weapon balance now from the series. Until the recent patch, hammerburst could down in three shots before you realized it. Lancer can down two people in one clip still, unless in was three in the beta I cant remember.
If you don't like the gnasher you're playing the wrong game series. Also people have always been shit and overreacted its the best spawn weapon in pretty much every game but you can still kill retards with rifles who have no approach game and just wanna gib you like retards.
They really need to bring back stopping power in Gears 4 though especially if they're gonna leave the lancer weakened in damage as well. Its become a common strategy that people will clump together and rush in in alot of situations because they won't be slowed down anymore and so if they have any sort of number advantage in that situation they get a free push in minus situations with the boomshot

Rifles feel weak as shit and take too much to down someone
Gnashers feel inconsistent more so then ever and feel like the range has been reduced to a pitiful 5 foot away rub battle
Pistol feels weaker
Power weapons have obnoxious splash gib range even when they aren't actived
Torque bow sticks and instant kills even when only barely charged now
And the new active mechanic is just sad and probably half the cause of the weakened weapons. Gotta make the weapons weaker and less varied in style since everyone can active a entire clip without using ammo.
Gears 3 UE when? It was the perfect game team and individual skill wise just bring it back already.

Gears multiplayer was always pure cancer for retarded kids who can't play real shooters. The shotgun is the epitome of ultra casual instant win button trash. That's why the fans always cried to the devs any time any other weapon was balanced to become viable enough to kill any shitter trying to use the gnasher. Nobody should be playing these games for anything other than campaign and horde.

i was thinking about picking up gears 4 since i wanted to relive those high school days playing gears multiplayer but did they really nerf the gnasher that much? that was like the one weapon that made the game fast paced and had great meta

Bullshit atleast non active takes about 2/3rds of a clip to down and with no stopping power its dumb as shit. Hammerbursts take atleast 5 bursts now and again NO STOPPING POWER to kill those shitters with no approach game.
Gears 3 had the best weapon balance. Everything was strong and because of that every situation was possible for a player with enough individual skill to win.
Gears 4 feels inherently nerfed so that you need team play more. But Gears 3 had a fine mix of both and there was no reason to fuck with the weapon balance so much.
I do enjoy fire nades getting nerfed into the ground with startup and splash. Fuck those stupid things. When i had that shit i felt like almost no one could approach me safely without a boomshot.
Gnasher can still down in two pot shots the same way but honestly it feels like it has less range and its far less consistent because of a way worse netcode.
I remember the down in two hit range being much further in Gears 1/3 which allowed for you to space out 2-3 people trying to mug your ass. Now you have to get in gib range in those situations and it just feels like forced team play shit.
Gears 4 is still solid but why bother when Gears UE is better and a Gears 3 UE would be far better.
The shotguns that had the opportunity to be both in one game.
It's a shame the single 1887 shotgun had to be nerfed as well in order to affect the Akimbo version properly.

I would agree its a little inconsistent maybe due to netcode but you're still going to kill someone in range if they have a rifle. Depends on the mode too though, since there are small damage value differences. Competitive has a slightly stronger shotgun I believe

Gears 3 hammerburst was practically cancer and they kept buffing it though. I know, because I used it. 4 felt this wayat first but now I'd say everything is pretty balanced since three bursts to the head still downs, its just body shots that are weaker
Judgment is a mechanically solid and fun Gears game, but it is a bizarre, lazily slapped together one all the same. Everyone hated the shitty, barebones multiplayer but that's long dead so you don't have to worry about it. The campaign isn't actually much of a campaign though. It's a weird, loosely connected sequence of mini horde stages. Hard to describe, but it's nothing like the other 4 Gears campaigns. The story is also forgettable and ultimately pointless. At least it had more Baird and Cole, which is probably the best thing anyone can really say for it. It's worth a playthrough for that and the core gameplay, just don't go in expecting a true campaign.
I recently can recall a moment where i fired a boomshot non active at a dudes back and killed another enemy 10 feet behind him as well. Not exaggerating 10 feet and no signs of being shot before hand. It has almost double active Gears 3 BS range.

What? They took away stopping power from it early on and the lancer was better for crowd control and had amazing damage and active damage. I loved the hammerburst until that. Still like it its viable.
My biggest dislikes in Gears 4 have to be how quick play TDM doesn't have bots or player drop it because of the stupid natural league system that should be competitive mode only
I dunno man playing Gears 3 for years and i loved how strong the weapons were and because of that even if the gnasher/lancer were the strongest non pickups other weapons could still compete because they still raped just not as hard.
I hope that competitive shotgun being stronger shit isn't true either because that is stupid to have weapon balance that is different from one play list then the other.

Quickplay TDM does have bots, you mean core mode which is like that for each game type which I agree is stupid to have ranks just for the core modes. Competitive also doesnt have aim assist

Gears 3 was loved by almost all Gears 1 oldfags i knew and was a great fucking game. It took teamplay and individual skill and wrapped it up super nicely. Its only failing was map design was bland because every map was designed to be symmetrical despite Gears 1 having a fine balance of both.
Has Gears ever had that much aim assist in general? I always felt because of how naturally strict its movement system was it didn't need it even for a controller in hand.
Also i guess i didn't look for quickplay until now and assumed it wasn't there. I've only been playing for a week since i got a xbone for Gears 4 specifically. Although i might just drop it and pick up Gears UE that seems more Gears 3 like then 4.

Not a lot but it is present in the series and you still manage to notice the different in competitive, which I only play for execution or RARE RIBBONS in escalation, which I like the idea behind but shit takes too long and sometimes you wonder how your team drops the ball and loses the lead 2/3 into it.
Unless they changed it, all I remember of UE is gnashers 24/7. Probably because Gears 3 has far more weapon variety and UE doesnt.

I honestly should shift from TDM to Execution/Warzone since honestly Gears 4 feels more built for it then TDM like Gears 3 felt it was built for.
Also yeah since its basically Gears 1 remastered and well ill defend the lancer was better then how i feel it is in Gears 4 by miles the maps favored the gnasher and Gears 1 had a fucking monster of a gnasher.
I hope Gears 3 UE is a possibility id buy it day one if its hardly touched balance wise. Otherwise id just like weapon buffs in 4 and the return of stopping power to weed out people with shitty approach games.
TDM was just made for casual players in 3 and its good for a warmup I guess, but KOTH and execution/warzone are my favorites.
TC did a good job with dodgeball though, and even guardian is still fun despite it being more of a campfest in 4 where the leader sits back and the other 4 people search for the enemy teams leader. I still prefer to go in when I'm leader since they dont expect it and often get tunnel vision for me and ignore teammates flanking them

Not really. It punished people worse then others extremely hard and required more consistency at all levels besides the very top then Execution/Warzone. The only issue with TDM in the Gears series is how there are really only two spawns and so if you get totally fucking wrecked/wreck a team and spawn trap them even 5 seconds of spawn protection isn't enough to stop a full team around the edge of the spawn with power weapons.
Its still a amazing way to hone yourself and execution/warzone is still tops but that is only when both teams are competent. TDM is also more fun to improve with because at lower/mid levels people ragequit too much in Execution/Warzone
I must've lost a whole 1k worth of kills being counted in Gears 1 because bitches quit.
Spawns are still wonky in 4. Sometimes in KotH the enemies will spawn behind you and in arms race some matches devolve into spawntrapping the enemies and the 5 seconds or so of invulnerability dont do much to help
