no, but spending my entire adolescence and early adulthood glued to a computer screen probably did
Yes. At least I think so.
I've been playing vidya a LOT for probably 5-6 years now, mostly computer. I noticed about half a year ago that it's a lot harder for me to focus on things that are farther away, that I used to be able to see.
Highway markers are a good example.
This and tv screens so double the shit
What the fuck are you guys on? Playing video games or sitting close to a screen don't cause any permanent damage to your eyes. You won't find a single research article that proves otherwise.
No, being outside too much did. I'm not even kidding.
no my shitty astigmatism did
this
I've been glued to screens my entire life and i have perfect eyesight
no and flux helps it stay that way
no, im not falling for the jews tricks
this lol
>that day when you basically get told you need glasses and have no idea why
>go to school and all the kids laugh
>tfw contacts 20 years later
Focusing on objects close to you puts strain on your eyes. That's why the 20-20-20 rule exists.
I wore glasses as a kid but now I don't need corrective lenses at all. Video games literally made my eyesight better, QED
lmao what shithole do people give a shit about glasses? It's so widespread these days it'd be like hating girls for wearing trousers
>being a fat disgusting fuck
>jumping off a roof into a bush and breaking your ribs
>getting cancer from smoking
All of this is covered by the government.
>being born with shitty eyes
Lol no pay hundreds of thousands for glasses and surgery for the rest of your life
Explain this shit
I have a slight astigmatism that doesn't require glasses, I've played video games and used the computer on average 12 hours a day for 10 years and my eyesight hasn't changed at all
I have shitty eyesight after playing games my whole life BUT I have perfect teeth even though I don't brush more than once a day and eat unhealthy food
checkmate atheists
No, playing video games, watching tv, being glued to a computer screen, and reading at night probably did it.
Wouldn't that mean everyone with a cellphone is making their eyesight worse?
it was the 90s
>Hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Dude, a prescription is like 100 dollars or 200 max. You can keep the same prescription for like 10 years.
I kind of wish it did
I have autism and wearing glasses makes me feel protected and safe, but I don't need them and the safe feeling is mitigated by fear someone who needs glasses will shout at me for being a "hipster" and then channeling how angry they were to be bullied at school into being mean to me.
I've actually been informed I look like a failed tranny with glasses on, but I don't care about looking good, it just feels nice. But I can't do it because people might get angry.
Speaking of vision
>Get headaches reading shit tons of text
>Gets headaches from playing games that aren't super casual games like Smash, Mario Kart, multiplayer indie shit, etc
Should I get my eyes checked, anons?
Does LASIK work? I want to have good eyesight the rest of my life
Oral hygiene is hereditary. Sometimes brushing too often when your mouth doesn't have a lot of bacteria will cause abscesses and gum damage
probably something to do with nerds having bad eyesight and usually having good jobs due to being a nerd so jews milk them dry
Because the other things result in medical emergencies. If you're in a car crash because you couldn't see worth shit, they'd treat you.
They don't give parachutes to people who want to jump off buildings and they don't hire a personal trainer and dietist to fat people.
I assume sitting close to a screen I use 16-20 hours a day might be making my eyesight worse.
I have glasses but that runs in my family.
its a good idea
I get the same thing, but it also happens if I'm watching videos or browsing Sup Forums all day.
Most of my headaches are centered in my eyes, so I assume they're from eye-strain.
after 10-15 years your eyeballs fall out
Probably
In a school medical checkup in 2004 have perfect eyesight. By the end of 2008 I can't read the blackboard from the back of the class anymore.
In 2005 World of Warcraft came out.
Really makes you
Yes
Vidya actually fixed my eyesight, when I was a kid I had one really bad eye
playing vidya with an eyepatch on my good eye helped train my bad eye
Yeah, but eye slicing is taboo for me so there's no way I'm doing it.
>have started seeing halos around lights and ghosting in the past couple months
>had a vitreous detachment around the same time and start seeing a ton of floaters in my right eye
>concerned that something may be fucked up with my eyes
>go see an opthalmogist
>"It doesn't appear as though anything is wrong, come back and pay me another $150 if it gets worse, goy."
>am now worried that I'm just going to wake up blind one morning
>hundreds of thousands for glasses
Try shopping online, you can get a pair for $10. And unless you're getting punched in the face every day a pair of glasses should last you at least a year.
Only CRT screens will wreck your eyes.
Yeah, I need glasses since 2011. I didn't need them before that.
you're developing a stand user
If you play videogames outside like a normal person you won't get eyesight problems from it:
cbsnews.com
Get you're pokemons out, boys.
>pay hundreds of thousands for glasses
Do you live in Zimbabwe?
>have started seeing halos around lights and ghosting in the past couple months
>eye floaters
Lived with that my whole life. Its not so bad.
>tfw nearsighted
FUCK
>hating girls for wearing trousers
>girls
>trousers
Haram
>the rest of my life
It lasts as long as your eyesight holds. If you need a new prescription every few years then LASIK will only be a temporary fix.
Only one of my eyes is bad, so it's unlikely
my eye doctor told me I have high eye pressure and has me come back every half a year to make sure I'm not developing glaucoma, but my eyes don't seem to be getting worse. Is this some kind of jewish scam? Getting tired of wasting money on these stupid visual field tests.
Sounds like you might have papilledema.
I would go to a doctor who's not a quack and have it looked at.
no i was born with that shit
Well supposedly floaters get less visible with time so maybe that will help, but right now it's difficult to focus on anything with so much shit shifting around in my vision. Especially when reading big blocks of text, I just cover up my right eye with my hand to make it easier.
My eye sights never been good.
I've been wearing glasses since 4th grade.
My eyes were fucked up pre vidya.
Television made the problem apparent, when i was three years old i would go sit right in front of the tv because else i couldn't see shit.
Congrats, you have brain cancer
>tfw you were born prematurely and have ROP because the doctors fucked up your oxygen therapy
Can carrot eating and eye exercises reverse the effects?
ROP?
>had to wear glasses when i was little
>tfw my eyes unfucked themself over time
feels good.
Are you trying to make me cry?
No need, you already have brain cancer after all
No. High levels of stress did it.
Eye strain only means the muscles around the eyes are tired, but it's a temporary discomfort and has no permanent effects.
leaving people to their own devices was a mistake
If I get eye surgery can I play videogames right away? I don't know how I'll keep my sanity without my daily shitposting
tfw 30/20 vision
it feels so selective too
if i sit in my bedroom i can see everything just fine, even tiny letters far away
but add in some sunlight, a little glare, and i can hardly read street signs
No. My eyesight is actually above average for some reason.
No, genetics did
My eyesight is top fucking percentage
Worse.
Canada
Probably, I don't know. Lately my long distance vision suddenly got bad, things got a little blurrier. At first I thought it was temporary but it doesn't seem like it. I have astigmatism in one eye so maybe it can get worse.
Are faint circles around lights at night a sign of vision getting fucked? I've stared at computer screens for 5+ hours a day for almost 20 years at this point and that's the only difference I've ever noticed.
Then wear some sunglasses you fag. Everyone has trouble seeing when the bright as fuck Sun is in their eyes.
this
can't see shit without my glasses now
Nope but reading books in the dark with a flashlight because my mom wouldn't let me read before bed did.
None of these are "hundreds of thousands" though.
lenscrafters.ca
my dad and grandpa both were snipers
i have perfect eyesight even tho i spent a lot of time playing games
it's in the genes
Do carrots work.
Yeah, the guy told me 4 years ago that I have presbyopia for spending too much time looking at the screen (I was 15/16 years old and this normally starts to kick in the 40's).
That said I don't know if he is retarded or something because I'm totally fine and never felt any of the symptoms of this.
No, I apparently have bad eyesight through genetics. So I got a shit deal before I was even born.
Bump
Die immediately
Yeah, but it was specifically because the original gameboy was garbage that didn't have a backlight
Why
No, my sister that barely touched the computer or even watched TV has shit eyesight just like the rest of us.
For bumping such a shit tier thread
No, but my monitors probably did.
don't think so, but reading every fucking place(even on bus) and use PC everytime(tech highscholl>tech college>work>hobby)
>kind of want to be stupid and stare at my screen from inches away so that it fills my vision and distracts me from the outside world more effectively
>want to be a pilot one day and won't know when my vision passes the "even with glasses, you're unfit to drive a car let alone fly a plane faggot." level.
Yes actually, there are several documentaries about it.
Stupid chenposter
My eyes appear to be perfectly fine even though I have been playing vidya watching tv, watching weeb shit since I was 1 or so and I don't have any friends so I still spend most of my time behind a screen.
Yep
>tfw every past 3 feet looks like a Picasso painting to me without my glasses
my eye doctor recommended Ortho K contacts, best $1000 i ever spent. you put them on at night and they shape your cornea while you sleep.
my eyes are worse by a point every year, so sure.
No, my eyes being shit ruined my eyesight.
Specifically, ONE of them being shit ruined it for both of them, and I'm a step away from legally blind without my glasses now.
Ye. Didnt were glasses until 7 grade, at which point I could still see fine without them. 20 years old and its gotten to the point where I cant see 20 feet away
>be
>25 yrs old
>playing since 98
>perfect 20/20 vision
>hurr durr computers ruin eyesight
it's just genetics
Nope it actually improved. I have near perfect vision now.
