I think you know the answer
Yeah
Bayonetta's redesign was pretty good
I sure love my Calarts overlords. Don't forget to watch Adventure Time and Steven Universe on Cartoon Network™
Sonic always looked and played like shit.
what the fuck...
It's not the only thing that got Calarts'd.
I want the stick arms meme to die
FUCKING CALI ARTS
Nothing is sacred.
CALARTS FUCKING SHITS
sorry lads wrong thread
but sora has had like five million redesigns
...
2007 Geoffroy is the best design.
Modern anime has better character designs.
The '10 anime style especially with the dot noses and the buck tooth stupid looking grin with the mouth agape gets me LIVID make me more angry than any cal arts shit which in its own right pretty fucking awful.
I hate to break it to you but cartoons are not made for you. Companies make cartoons so kids will watch the commercials and ask their parents to buy the stuff.
...
Neither is video games and yet here we are.
We can still call the redesigns shit if we want.
>How you want your logo sir?
>Just save me money on ink costs.
>I watch Steven Universe and I'm a proud liberal
what the fuck did they do to the taco bell logo
>I have litterally never done any research into design
Basic colours that contrast look more appealing and catch the eye. Although I prefer the old font.
>Companies make cartoons so kids will watch the commercials and ask their parents to buy the stuff
You're not just wrong, you're stupid.
I'm still fuming about wesker's redesign. In the original he looked alike any other stars member. RE4 and the wii rail shooter onward he's in a synthetic motorcycle speed suit with matrix glasses and stares just beside the camera during dialogue, teleports and bends time.

I'm getting so sick of this minimalist bullshit on every logo now.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I liked the 2001 era Geoffrey desu.
it's "hip"
So are people actually going to explain why what he said was wrong?
THANKS DOC
You can do contrast without going boringly minimalistic.
That's my main gripe with most logos these days. They're too goddamn minimalistic. I don't want something to be horribly overdesigned either but you need to find a middle ground.
It's already been over a year?
Man. I still miss Google's old logo.
fucking 2001 with that real-ass giraffe
>an actual giraffe
Looks the same.
...
His design has always been shit except the one with the red vest.
This Harry faggot really gets on my nerves.
He's the physical fucking embodiment of "REMEMBER THE 90'S? REMEMBER HOW MUCH BETTER THEY WERE?", and he's ready to shit on anything that doesn't 1 for 1 copy his "ideal style".
While I heavily dislike the Calarts style, the "90's" style that he prasies is honestly one of the worst ones I've seen too. Something is so off about the proportions, lines, everything. There were several different styles used in the 90's that were way above what's commonly used now, but he's chosen one of the worst, that was in all reality sort of the Calarts of its time, as it has no distinctive, or outstanding features.
The best animation is something that's unique, and well drawn. Really, neither of his illustrations are that, and it doesn't help his point when it seems like he's intentionally made the 10's style even uglier than it normally is.
60's one looks kinda weird, 70's too to a smaller extent
80's and 90's look like cartoon characters for a child
2007 looks like a cartoon character for a baby
Why is everything so "safe" looking nowadays? Does the extra colour and detail on things trigger people?
>2001
left or right?
yea
it's a waste to make a flashy logo nowadays, all you need is a simple one that people can easily identify with
343 likes to make a lot of very bad design choices.
I like his outfit.
I really hate the 90's style of anime too though.
It's all really fucked up looking in the facial areas. Looks like it's shit straight out of those book-fair how to draw anime books.
Really, the best stuff was the sort of 2001-2008 era style. It's kind of a half way point.
Pfffffftt bwahahaha
Left. Yoshi looks shit in 3d
haha
>2001
I'm laughing at this more than I should.

Calm down, tumblrina. Everyone knows western cartoon trash is meant for kids, even the "adult" orientated shit. That doesn't mean it's exempt from getting shat on for it's terrible designs. You know there's two literal boards that agrees with your terrible mindset, right? Let me lead them to you.
No, but simple designs with contrast are more appealing and catch the eye better, which is what you want your logo to do.
Faster production, more money, less work
The creator of Adventure Time Gravity Falls Steven Universe and most other "calarts" cartoons didn't go to CalArts.
EVERY TIME
As a graphic designer, I agree. Im tired of "material" designs, but I understand their necessity. First you need to understand that a logo needs to be recognizable from any distance and at any size, any graphic designer worth their salt knows and achieves this.
Now consider the insane amount of different display resolutions on the market right now. How many places can a logo be displayed? How large and how small will a logo be displayed? Take the 3DS and an average smartphone for example. 400x240. A logo needs to look good and recognizable at that resolution as well as the average 1080p phone screen.
In short, it's easier to achieve a recognizable logo across tons of different screen DPIs and resolutions with a material design than with other styles.
Just look at thumbnail and see which logos look clearer and are easier to recognize at a glance. The difference may not be massive, but when your competitor has the more easily identifiable logo, then it is a big issue especially when considering consumer psychology.
>why do multinationals with no religious, ethnic or even national loyalty have soulless branding?
Not even the vehicles are safe
Talking purely from a design point, my only issue with Donte is the union Jack on his jacket. Vorgil's design was really awful, tho. That one buttflap ruined the entire thing

Those all look terrible.
The right design is especially terrible because it means they can only breath through their nose.
I actually prefer the newer flat, minimalist logos.
Something about logos with a lot of gradients and shading always seemed really tacky and ugly to me, even when it was still going on. Old Pepsi stuff is the epitome of this.
Stuff like the old Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network logos were fucking perfect though, I don't know why they'd change that.
man seriously
Sup Forums made me gay for yoshi fuck
This triggers my autism the most. Fucks sake.
2001 is best giraffe
Rip Sylvester Stallone movie logo
Choose wisely
...
I actually like the newer Grunt designs way more.
All the other redesigns are shite though.
Yes, kids do not even watch cartoons. Only fat women and nu-males. Say this on Sup Forumsmblr and they get mad. I say this as a person who stupidly stood on that shithole for six years. Well it was good until 2011. I have no idea how it became the SJW paradise that it turned into.
...
they're all bullshit
>no one cared who I was until I took off the mask
...
I want to fuck both Yoshis.
Uh oh. I like both.
Really liked the characters from JSR, from what i had seen i didn't like the new looks of JSRF.
But after playing it i really warmed up to a lot of them and think they can co-exist side-by-side just fine.

>Mario Teaches Typing
what the fuck
Capcom is the worst with having consistent characters, none of them look similar to their past selves and most of them act & sound different, too. Resident Evil is the best example of this, but it plagues all their franchises
>Mario Teaches Typing
The problem really comes from flat colors and basic fonts. Like just using your example, the Pepsi logo from the left is no harder to distinguish than the right (in fact I'd say it's easier since it isn't doing that weird mouth thing and the font's larger) and it doesn't have to just be three flat colors forming a shape with an all lowercase, minimalist font used for the name. And you can still make out some details on the small thumbnail like the lighting as well.
>uncited wall of text as a picture on Sup Forums
it's like you want me to think this is all total bullshit
See, that one is actually a redesign I like, but I still really like the classic design. The excuse they make in the lore is that all these new designs are different subspecies, and we actually see this in the comics and stuff with both jackals beside each other, but we never actually see it in the games because they'd have to make brand new models for them.
>mario teaches typing
sasuga america
I really don't like Harry all that much. He's a unfunny nostalgia fag. But that Calarts shit is terrible. Also I always hated the 90's anime style even as a kid. Everything had brown and grey colors and everyone seemed to look like triangles for no real reason. I honestly like the late 2000's look anime had. It got the right amount of color and bloom without it going full soft looking weeb bait.
>not actually explaining anything
I'm just stopping by to say that, despite the generic/bad character designs, Gravity Falls is a very, very good show.
i love the new design. Though it has some problems, hopefully the one in the remasters will be even better
They fixed it a bit in Halo 5, but the Halo 3/reach design is still 1000 times better.
>2001 is best geoffrey
CABOOSE NO!
Why are 99% of modern redesigns terrible?
>mario teaches typing
>cant read 7 paragraphs
its like you want me to think youre a fucking retard
