Klonoa's original design is good, but all I picture when they were coming up with him is "Hey what if that Ovopack guy designed something that looks like it was made for porn", which is a shame because it attracts all of the worst kinds of people.

Even worse though is how they turned him into a Sonic character in the second game, what the fuck is up with that?

Phantomile emulates great. You have the choice between Mednafen (cycle accurate original "low" quality) or ePSXe (high-level emulation with upscaled polygons).
I chose Mednafen (through the Retro Arch front end), but you need to download the PSX BIOS, check MD5 hashes to make sure you have the right one, and place it in the right folder.

Only his Moonlight Museum and Lunatea's Veil/Empire of Dreams designs had the Sonic-like eyes. They changed them and made them bigger again in 2002 with Dream Champ Tournament/Beach Volleyball/Heroes and again with the Wii remake.

Not to mention he's always had a neck and shoulders, less noodly limbs, a centered mouth, and separate eyes. Not very Sonic-like when you take a closer look.

The strength of those feels are largely beyond what I expected. The fucking theme of that place where the tank chases you around while the city burns in the background. The snowboard stage, the last stage music, holy shit this game is just an immeasurably deep well of feels.

Redo some models, add a new lighting system, fix up the cutscenes to be more cinematic like the PS1 version, give the bosses some new moves, and allow players to choose how many hit points they have. That would be perfect.
