>Fast forward a year later
>sitting in the car with dad, moving van, we're driving across the country because of his new job
>don't really connect with him, not much in common, he's the typical hardass military dad and I'm the son who never played football like I knew he secretly wanted me to
>Sitting in silence until he changes the radio station
>"TO THE TOWN OF AGUA FRIDA RODE A STRANGER ONE FINE DAY"
>"Oh this song brings back memories, this kind if music used to be all over the radio when I was a kid, kinda like how 80s pop is today."
>he starts singing along
>"NO ONE DARED TO ASK HIS BUSINESS..."
>I start to sing along with him
>"...NO ONE DARED TO MAKE A SLIP!"
>he is visibly surprised, but in a happy way, like a proud father kind of way, a way I wasn't used to seeing
>we both sing the entire thing together
>"Well heck son, where did you learn that song from?"
>I explain its in this one video game

>"Uh, sure! I'd be happy to."
>I later showed him how to use a mouse and keyboard to play vidya
>His favorites right now are New Vegas, the classic ghost recon games and the new DOOM
Sorry for the blog post, this thread just brought back a happy memory for me is all.
Love ya, dad.
thats nice,good for you user
my dad tried to get in to video games when i would visit him. he was never able to get the hang of 3d games, it would just give him motion sickness. but we would aways play Rock N Roll Racing or Mutant league hockey on sega. last time i flew down there i put a sega emulator on his PC the look in his eyes when i fired up the emulator and showed him how to play it... i wish i could see it again
Comfy story senpai
>Legion assassins
>Come Fly With Me
>Cazadores
>[Speech] checking Lanius
New Vegas is my GOAT but Jesus Christ it has some of the worst fucking shit ever.
>JSawyer master race
>classic ghost recon games
Ghost recon is the ultimate dad game, I know this from experience.
Sometimes things aren't so bad.
nice story user, im comfortable now
JSawyer?
I prefer Fear and Loathing in New Vegas (modding guide) or DUST for a good overhaul tbqh.
>Grandpa was a huge cowboy movie fan
>Had autographed John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Gary Cooper stuff
>Cowboy era rifles hung up on his wall on spurs fashioned as hooks
>Decided to bring my ps3 and a copy of Red Dead to show him because I know he would love it
>I failed to foresee that he was an old man and not so good with his fingers anymore, much less to use them on some complicated piece of technology we take for granted because we're so used to it
>He couldn't play it at all, but he did enjoy watching me play it for him which was a good compromise all things considered
>We treated it like a tv show, playing a story mission then going off to do chores or whatnot and coming back afterwards
>It was a fun summer
When he died I was asked to tell this story in front of his casket, I couldn't do it.
Speech checking lanius is pretty bullshit I'll give you that, but I don't see the problem with the rest of those.
Nice story for a glommy day
...
>Jingle Jangle Jingle starts playing
What a nice story, user. I'm not even being sarcastic, that was really moving.
>DUST
>good overhaul
It's impressive sure, but I wouldn't classify it as an overhaul. An overhaul is something like Project Nevada, where it revamps everything. DUST just takes vanilla, makes everyone hostile, and throws a billion tunnelers in. It's honestly more of a World mod.
Legion assassins are usually massively OP if you piss the Legion off at a low level, and come after you even if you're fucking Shunned. At high levels they are just a nuisance.
Come Fly With Me, albeit interesting, turns into a slog of backtracking and repetitiveness.
Cazadores are just... broken.
Shit.. that took a turn.
Sorry that happened to you man, I probably couldn't have done it either.
A NV thread is the last place I thought I would experience feels today
>cazadores are broken
Sounds like you need to git gud
First time I played NV was on console. I don't think I finished it, had maybe ~50 hours in. I got a PC a while back but don't know what mods would be good to install. Graphics? Gameplay? Quests? Sluts?
>git gud
>despite my near 1000 hours
Kek, go back to Dark Souls fag.
dumb frogposter
Shit man there are a lot of good mods for NV. One of my personal favorites is New Vegas Bounties (1, I haven't played the others), which is a pretty fun quest mod where you fight bosses for more caps and there's a story to it as well. Other mods I have:
>NMC's texture pack - a nice looking texture pack that improves the game's textures
>Freeside open and New Vegas open - makes Freeside and New Vegas one world space
>Fallout character overhaul - makes the character's faces look a bit better
>WARZONES - adds NPC battles between large groups of enemies to the game, haven't had much experience with this one
There are fuck-ton if you look around the Nexus for a while. I've got like 60-odd mods installed and I'm constantly looking for more.
New Vegas got me into Grandpa music.

>Freeside open and New Vegas open - makes Freeside and New Vegas one world space
This sounds kind of fucked up?
OOOOOH IM THE KINDA GUY THAT LIKES ROAM AROUND
What? That was the game's best part. It was the ultimate example of why CHA wasn't a dump stat.
> typical hardass military dad
>plays games
I don't think so buddy, almost believable story tho.
It's not actually, it even adds some content that was removed from the final game like pickpockets and extra dialogue/events.
>Fallout Character Overhaul
kys, FCO makes everyone look like ass, and its a huge resource hog.
>tfw life isn't jingle jangle
>it's johnny guitar
Sorry I may have worded this really awkwardly. What I mean is Freeside is one world space, and that New Vegas is also one world space instead of two. These two world spaces are, however, still separate from each other. I apologize for my poor choice of words.
>implying
How do you think people handle deployment?
>huge resource hog
Oh shit, really? Man I'll have to go uninstall that shit then. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Come fly with me is completely optional
military people love vidya
Anything that normal adults do. Read books, watches TV, goes outside. They sure as shit don't play games.
>trying to relate and bond with your son is unrealistic
Sorry you had such a tough home life, user.
Ah alright that makes more sense.
C'mon. Typical military dad playing a slow ass RPG like New Vegas? Where the vast majority of time is spent walking and talking? Seems highly unlikely.
>read books
Correct and undeniable.
>watch TV
What's there to watch?
>go outside
Are you fuckin serious m8
>They sure as shit don't play games.
holy kek
>vast majority of time is spent walking and talking
>what is the army
Real life? Not comparable at all.
Test
Johnny Guitar is the best song in new vegas though
>Cazadores
>[Speech] checking Lanius
Literally nothing wrong with that.
>normal adults
Sorry to burst your bubble, but video games are a normie hobby for several years now.
My 50 year old pleb es fuck brother in law bought a PS4 just to play Battlefield 4 last year. He was also in the military though not a real "military guy".
Are you forgetting slow games are the dad's game of choice?
>ARMA
>Train Simulators
>Ghost Recon
>Farming Simulators
>Flying Simulators
>Fantasy Football
just to name a few
t. 12 year old who thinks "adults" are not human
What the fuck are you even trying to say?
my Finnish friend told me they watched anime and MLP in the army
He called him an autistic underage baby.
That adults play games. There's not some special event that happens between being a teenager and becoming an adult.
Fav songs in nv

Blue Moon
Johnny Guitar
Jingle, Jangle, Jingle

No but seriously, the music in New Vegas is the best. Oldies are second only to metal.
If you're the kinda guy who tries to get a certain ending for everything, it isn't.
Cazadores are a cool idea, but their implementation is awful.
>weird twitchy movement
>insane poison damage
>aggression levels through the roof
>extremely fast for an enemy
Speech checking Lanius is shit because your courier's argument is shit.
>"If you take the West, you can't hold the East."
>"durr, i hadnt thunk of that! i will leave now"
It's shit.
Same except swap Johnny Guitar with Aint That a Kick in the Head.
There have been a fuckton of versions of this song but they all sound wrong compared to this one.
Majority of adults don't play slow games like New Vegas (20-ish is not an adult, I'm talking 30+)
Try going outside sometimes.
Speaking of Ghost Recon, a 20gb mod for the original 2001 Ghost Recon that's been in development for 15 years was released a few days ago, maybe some dads in this thread would like to check it out.
ghostrecon.net
>>weird twitchy movement
>>insane poison damage
>>aggression levels through the roof
>>extremely fast for an enemy
All of those are good characteristics. Besides, any automatic weapon chews through them because lol0DT. Just stop approaching them as a sneaky sniper unless you have explosive bullets.
>durr, i hadnt thunk of that
Actually the way he answers implies he did, basically he's a pretty intelligent in his own way guy who feels way over his head in leading the Legion. He's an excellent warrior, but not a good strategist. It works for me.
BONGO BONGO BONGO
> mfw
>he doesn't know about the game boy which survived the gulf war
I DON'T WANNA LEAVE THE CONGO
OH NO NO NO NO NO
desu I played new vegas three times in a row and I only had Johnny guitar play one time.
A majority of adults don't play video games at all because most of the world's population doesn't have access to vidya.
point=mute
you never turned on the radio then senpai
>played through New Vegas a few times, getting bored
>decide to try out porn mods for the sake of it
>install Sexout mod with some difficulty
>there's like a dozen different parts to install for it
>start it up
>have sex with some random hooker
>have sex with random women
>going good for a while but then my character stops cumming
>literally can't cum, I think his sensitivity stat got fucked up or something
I just gave up on it
This happens when you fuck around like a dirty whore. Only realistic.
BINGO BANGO BONGO I DON'T WANNA LEAVE THE CONGO
I REFUSE TO GO
>LET'S RIDE INTO THE SUNSET TOGETHER
same thing happened to me except it was with girlfriend and burnout and instead of my dad it was my sister and instead of driving in the car we were eating ice cream at home
same, me and my dad used to play GRAW2 religiously together
I feel bad for the current generation of parents who cant just jump in and play vidya with their kids because splitscreen is all but gone
on the topic of sex mods
>install a skyrim sex mod
>get knocked out and some bandit starts raping me
>hoists me onto his shoulder and starts fingering me
>then his character model just starts floating away while mine just stays there
that's when I gave up with modding because even using a mod manager, I somehow manage to fuck it up
>installed a bunch of skyrim sex mods last night just to try it out
>still have a few things left to install but i'm scared to continue because i don't want to break my save
some animations are just shit, you've got to disable them in the menu and then it's good.
That fingering over the shoulder in particular is dumb anyway and has floating issues.
Fnis problem. With Sykrim it's always Fnis.
Johnny Guitar is the best in NV, and End of the world is the best in Fallout 4. Melancholic music is better than hillbilly shit.
But sneaky sniper is the only build I play, outside of roleplaying. I just like having all my companions stay alive, which Cazadores fuck up bigtime.
If he thought of that and decided it was still a good plan, then a [Speech] check really wouldn't convince him otherwise.
>WE FOUND OUT
why did they think this racist trash would be appropriate, even in a game set in the 1970s?
PLAY IT AGAIN MY JOHNNY
What's wrong with a song about going to your grandma's house?
Don't you love your grandma, user?
>Shitty New Vegas """"""""""""""Fallout"""""""""""" thread starts playing
Play the first two you fucking faggots.
>m-muh dated! muh nostalgia goggles!
Fuck you.
Cazadores are a non-problem. Go for their wings and they're tame as a lamb in close combat.
>But sneaky sniper is the only build I play
I think it's nice that there's an enemy that counteracts this to some degree.
>If he thought of that and decided it was still a good plan
He went with it because it was Caesar's plan and because it made sense, doesn't mean he can't have doubts. And Speech 100 Courier is only the most convincing person in existence. The way they can draw parallels between NCR and Legion is just too convincing to pass buy. It's not like he gives up on the idea, he says that one day he'll come back.
You can also infer from the way he treats Vegas if you don't heal Caesar that he doesn't really understand Caesar's desire to capture it. For him, it's an epitome of sin and degeneracy, not the new Rome Caesar saw in it.
1 is too short. 2 is too silly at times. New Vegas is just right.
I cant be the only one with the soundtrack in his car right? My gf is amazed at how much I like Lone Star, we live nowhere near Texas
c o m f y
STEP RIGHT UP! SPIN TO WIN! SEE WHAT YOU GET! EVERYBODY'S A WINNAH!
fuck I'm doing it!
>I think it's nice that there's an enemy that counteracts this to some degree.
Oh yeah, definitely, it's a sure sign of good game design.
>your entire lanius thing
A thousand hours in and I still find out new things. I have no argument for this aside from reenacting some anime episode where two guys smack each other around with giant swords , so I concede.
Now comes the important question: which ending is best? Say Legion and I'll cut your nipples off.
Aside from the dated references and that god awful temple tutorial, 2 and NV are easily the best in the series
youtube.com
I feel like this song would fit perfectly in New Vegas
