One of the things about Morrowind that nobody ever mentions and that's some of the best in it, is how you're less than zero. In Oblivion you meet the king and get prophezised in 30 seconds, in Skyrim you get facetime with a dragon in 30 seconds and discover being Italian after a minute. It's like they went "noo, can't harm the little babies playing this". In Morrowind? You're a piece of shit, even after you become the Nerevarine.

Does anyone play this? Is there a way to trigger the Kingdom of Morrowind in normal campaign? Do I have to beat all of the other houses or what?

I don't need to. I roll Breton masterrace, pick up Saviours Hide at the start of the game and disregard them for the rest of the game.
I also make a custom spell that restores all attributes before I leave Balmore.

But when I was a newbie, damn those guys were dicks. Doesn't help that almost every mage summons one of them. Every time I met one I ran away until the duration expired so I didn't have to strip naked to restore my stats, or worse, run to the next temple shrine and come back. Compared to that, Cliffracers are a joke.

I disagree with you but not in a negative way. As I get higher in the Theive's Guild and Morag Tong, people are a little more amicable. Throw the extravagant clothes and armor in there and everyone comments that you're either doing very well for yourself or you're "out of your place". I like that you have to go from nithing to something.

I know it was on steam before but I recall there being some problems with bigger mods.
I remember seeing mod site after site dying before that.

Then vivec expansion+redesigned vivec (there's a compatibility version somewhere but hard to find). Vanilla vivec sucks.

There is nothing about it to require overhaul or those thousands of sperg community patches. The only problem is sometimes loud noise when you get hit which is fixed by code project. It's an old game. If you want more polished and shiny experience play newer tes games.
