what went wrong
What went wrong
Nothing.
This game is almost perfect.
they said it wasn't possible to fix the ai without rewriting the entire game
It's good.
too bad the DLC is shit, but that's Paradox for ya
>tfw too retarded to set up public transportation
>just end up spamming taxi cab stations instead
feels
lol i'll bite
Suffers from DLC syndrome, too much useless shit on the Workshop and the maps are too big. It's literally "build the neighbourhood and forget it" until you hit max pop tier where everything's unlocked, at which point game is about done.
It's a "play for a good marathon session twice then forget it" game unfortunately.
First post best post.
For a city sim, there's not a whole lot that could be improved that doesn't exist through mods already.
The ai is retarded at times, but other those few glitches this game is fun as fuck. Its almost as good as sc4
how do i get good like this
>mods finish the game
oh boy time to install 30 shitty "BEST MODPACK EVUR" collections
Its the Euro continent with some farm and road mods.
Or you could be slightly less of a lazy faggot and just search around for the important shit.
Reddit, for instance. Probably would suit you.
>you have to search through a pile of shit mods to get the "important shit"
But it was pretty damn good
I can't figure out how to make a good city, that's what went wrong.
Steam workshop makes it easy.
Again, so does a place like Reddit.
This games mods really come in two flavors: Gameplay and Cosmetic. Theres no real middle ground so picking and choosing isn't hard, since most people who tackle gameplay actually know what they're doing codewise (as the game was developed fully with mod support in mind).
You have the internet, turkey. Its not hard.
Fucking Snowfall expansion. Should have added seasons to the game, not one goddamned permanent map theme.
>on/offramps looks fucked unless you take great care placing them
>weird traffic behavior
>slowdown at 150-200k+ pops
>Steam workshop makes it easy.
hey, we gave you a fork to eat the shit while you search for the "important shit", so you don't have to eat with your hands! yay!
>Again, so does a place like Reddit.
you sure love reddit. why don't you go there?
>(as the game was developed fully with mod support in mind)
developers in a conference: hey, we are too bad to finish our game alone. what should we do? just let the gamers finish it and call it a feature.
I'm not seeing an argument here, user.
Traffic being too integral to the game. Also graphics are pretty subpar compared to Sim City 2013.
Fuck off nerdcubed.
let a mod finish your argument? oh sorry, you have to look for the important mod for this
>massive 50 lane freeway
>traffic backed up for 30 miles in the right lane because the exist is backed up
>they're all going straight and not taking the exit
GO AROUND]
USE THE OTHER LANES
What the fuck you mean "what went wrong"?
It single-handedly annhililated Sim City franschise once and for all to the point that the dev team of Simcity called it quits.
>Get Rush Hour mod
>Actually have reasons to make parking lots now
>City is 4 times comfier without all those filthy degenerate fairies parking their fucking cars on the sides of roads.
Also traffic and pop schedules following the day/night cycle is nice.
Makes me wonder why it wasn't in the main game outside of a bit harder on the CPU.
That and Traffic++.
redpill me on rush hour mod
Basically the pop follows a schedule now, with some variable differences depending on business type and RNG I think, that makes them go to work/school/etc and then go home according to the day/night cycle rather than just whenever the fuck, which would cause school to be full of people throughout the night and day ceaselessly.
Instead of going by days, the clock at the bottom goes by minutes and hours and shit.
What this means is that morning and night work traffic is much heavier, but for the rest of the day it varies.
It also makes the AI attempt to park in parking spots rather than on the road 300 miles from work, and stops them from "pocketing" their cars unless deemed necessary.
Its pretty neat so far.
What about trafic++?
>what went wrong
Cities: Skylines is a good city building game compared to what else was released at the time (Sim shitty DRM edition)
Here's what went wrong
>retarded traffic AI at times
>easy to hit zoning limits, population growth hits a slowdown somewhere around ~200k pop or so and you pretty much have to wait for something big to grow again
that's pretty much all I have that was blatantly wrong
>Traffic being too integral to the game.
Traffic is like the most important aspect in modern citybuilding, though the AI is retarded
Does changes to driving AI so its smarter about where to go and when.
Also adds more road types, and the ability to edit/assign turn lanes (my favorite addition), add/remove traffic lights or set them on timers etc.
>have 250,000 population city
>only see 100~ cars on the road and 200~ people walking around
