assume they're getting hit by infinites
Running right past dead allies that they could revive very easily.
Make their character then proceed to use weapons they aren't proficient in, and complain they can't hit anything.
Build defense armor and never learn dodging.
Also tripping other people.
Fallout

pokeman
Pokémon?
There's this game I kinda enjoy.
In the game you can grind for a consumable, but you're forced to do so in order to advance the game, in fact farming it just makes the game too easy.
For at least 5 years after release the major complain people had about the game was "waaaah you have to waste so much time farming that thing, and it's so boring!".
Nowdays people acually bring real criticism about the game that I think are ok, and even agree with sometimes.
Focus more on killing than staying alive.
They use items.
*You're NOT forced to do so

Should have left the pistol only, but I was unsure whether Steam patch fixed the bug.
NieR
>tfw I say "I told you about the buffs, bro"
They put off retrieving a runaway and end up locking themselves out of an entire area and quest chain.
Stand in one place and get shot when they can be zipping around and blowing shit up
Not assigning dash to the L button
I don't even get sonic games. In the classic and new ones, every time I go super fast (the only fun thing in the games) I just get hit by a robot or fly into a wall
morrowind
Does not put weapon away to catch up with enemy and attack again.

Monster Hunter
They ignore the markings on the ground and end up missing on tons of secrets because of it, then blame the game for "forcing you to check every wall and ledge".
Trots Seth out in front of everyone to soak up all the valuable EXP.
overwatch?
They fire wrist rockets.
Reading about the fire contraption, and then completely ignoring it when it's most crucial.
Bloodborne for the xbox one

Not really. I've just made that mistake myself. first played MMX with default controls. Then I played MMZ. That changed everything. When I replayed MMX, I slapped my forehead for not thinking to change the controls sooner.
Maining the bow weapon
To be fair, the markings can easily be mistaken for just broken pieces of floor or something.
Yep, I would bet that everyone locked themselves out of the witchwood the first time through.
Crusader Kings II?
they don't evoke their fucking feet.
The Wonderful 101
Playing a melee character instead of ranged.
Persona

I was only halfway through my first playthrough when I noticed the pattern, and only on my third did I manage to get all collectibles, but it's an easily learnable and experience-improving bit of knowledge
