I wasn't on nost, but i was around for the second Kronos server when it launched, and holy shit it was amazing. I still play retail but never have i had so much fun chatting with others and making friends in wow.

But I really, actually don't. Vanilla sucked donkey dick. For me. Also, what's even worse than vanilla is the idea of playing vanilla with a server full of people who, like myself, already know everything about the game. We already know what to do, where to go, there's no mystery, no adventure. Which was all that saved WoW back in the day, because the game balance and actual gameplay were honestly shit.

Same reason Project 1999 is fun for the early levels and then turns into a clusterfuck later. Except that's worse with all the cockblocking.

I am however glad it exists again for people who do want it, and that's not sarcasm or being shitty. If it appeals to some folks, that's awesome.

I never paid much attention to it because I played with a group of friends and one of us was a warrior.

Warriors are the only true hybrid class in vanilla. The other hybrid classes, shamans, paladins and druids were mostly specced healing when doing the toughest content because they were really only competent healers. They were outshone by dedicated classes when it came to tanking and dpsing and the rare time their dps spec was brought into a raid was usually to support another class, e.g. shadow priest to serve as mana battery.

Enter the warrior. It was the only class that could tank the toughest content, but warriors were also able to put out the highest dps once they were adequately geared. They excelled at two roles, something that no other class can lay claim to. It's true that a dps warrior before gear and before 60 is a hell of a joke though.

Pretty much what I was thinking while writing that post. Warrior became fun once you got the gear, but I can't help feeling like most of those people watched some Laintime or some random R14 warriors kill people with pocket healers, only to be sorely disappointed when they tried to actually DPS anything. And, yes, even then, people would ask you to tank because no one else could, outside raids where you'd actually have room for a few DPS warriors.

That said, I feel like they weren't really hybrids. Sure, you could DPS raids and tank 5mans, but you'd always have one main role. If you were a DPS in the raids you didn't suddenly switch to main or offtanking. At most you'd tank an add in a fight with tons of them.

I played a paladin as a hybrid in the sense that I spent all of my time hoarding ret gear but healed in raids anyway because we never had all that many healers. As such, I only really had one role in endgame content despite spending most of my time dicking around as ret out in the world PvPing.

I feel like with Wrath of the Lich King, they wanked every items stats and levels up so much that everything from BC and before became obsolete. Back in Vanilla, almost all of the professions and several of the items served a unique and important purpose.

I was actually going to roll a lock after seeing how few there were on Alliance Nost, sometimes I'd go to Ony pugs and there'd only be one Lock that had all the drops to himself.

Seems like everyone else has caught on though so I'm rolling a secret mystery class instead.

If you look at any Nost videos, the vanilla servers are full of shit players. Even if you know everything and got better, many people didn't.

I levelled a bit at Kronos a while ago. Got a warrior tank who didn't even know about Taunt.
