So I just started watching Star Trek: The Next Generation for the first time and I'm enjoying it a lot. Are there any good Star Trek games involving TNG? I've heard decent things about Bridge Commander, is it any good?

...

Is it better than TOS? Still on S3 of TOS

not really.

There were a couple of possible for their time shooters.

Tell me this, captain. If the federation is so great, then why are there no good Star Trek games?

FUCK YOU GUL DUKAT AND FUCK YOUR MINDGAMES

YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE THE WRATH OF BAJOR

I've only ever seen TOS as a kid, this run through TNG is my first attempt at properly watching a Trek series

>TNG thread
>posts DS9
Off yourself faggot

Not op but tng is more consistent. ToS has good moments but overall TNG was better for me. DS9 is where it's really at tho tbqh

ahh, alright.
cool, thanks! i don't know if TNG's crew will be able to beat TOS's crew but we'll see

Are there any good Trek games in general, then?

There was the Voyager away team thing whatever it was called. I mean it was a bog standard Quake 3 engine shooter which we had shitloads of back then, but I thought the singleplayer was well done.

>the time dukat goes full jonestown on the bajorians

Dukat's peak was during the Retake DS9 arc

TNG raises a lot of unsettling political and philosophical issues.

Really shame how such a good character was made a twirly mustache villain by the end.

Kirk attacked an enemy by jumping on him with his ass though

You can feel some quality dropping in the writing in the later seasons

>It's a Riker episode

>watching the animated series

>What is 25th Anniversary
>What is Judgement Rights

You are objectively wrong

well the first seasons where total shit, then sisko shaved his head and then they became awesome and later on it dropped to the level the whole show started.

Every Star trek show apart from the original has terrible opening seasons.

Yea but TNG ending was awesome.

There's a good TNG adventure game I played called A Final Unity I think

It was pretty good, and most missions had variable outcomes and evaluations based on how well you did etc. Would recommend giving it a go.

hey OP, try "A final Unity" it was a point and click adventure from back in the day with all the cast reprising their roles.

as for TNG, the first 2 season can be a little tough to get through but season 3 onwards is when TNG hits its stride.

general rule of thum for star trek is TNG for individual episodes, DS9 for overall story and VOY for when theres nothing else on.

sup borg

>It's a Wesley Crusher does everything better than the rest of the crew episode

...

nothing much, same cube with green trim, the usual,

god dam it really makes me wish to watch ds9, havent watch it in a long fucking time.

If you do you can skip the first two seasons.

Yeah the boys

he doesnt have to, DS9's first 2 seasons arent THAT bad.

>it's an evil riker episode

>So I just started watching Star Trek: The Next Generation for the first time and I'm enjoying it a lot

I'm enjoying it a lot, too.

Yeah, but if you've already seen them there is no reason to re-watch them. Also, there are some very terrible episodes - the ones with the fucking leprechaun and hopscotch were painful.

oh shit, i forgot about those. D:

Star Trek Online is -okay-. There's at least a good glut of Episodic Content to burn through once you hit max level.

Problem is that if you want your dream ship, you're going to have to grind like a motherfucker to get enough EC to buy it off the exchange, or enough Dilithium to convert to Zen to buy from the cash shop.

I went back and played Star Trek Online recently - did they change the rate at which you get EC or something? I remember having a fuckton of ships when I first played but it seems like it would take forever now

Not that I know of. Just crazy inflation is all.

The NuTrek Connie is like, 350mil? And the fuckin' T6 TOS Connie is fucking 1bil.

It's not so much the availability of EC that's changed but it's value, corresponding to how grindy the current best method is of getting dil, what the dil-zen ratio is etc.

Just a few years ago getting a fleet module for a top tier ship was 1.5-3 mil EC per module, something you could do reasonably quickly. But as the dil-zen ratio got out of whack, with the various promotions and what have you it's now claimed to be at least 6-7 million EC per module, last I recall.

Also, a tip for EC grinding: craft. You can make a hell of a lot of money by crafting upgrade tokens or any of the right kind of equipment.

>It's a Things That Never Happened episode

Judgement rites.
25th anniversary.
A final unity.
Klingon academy.
Elite Force.
Starfleet command.

Bridge commander is good if you mod everything. Vanilla is average.

What mods should I get?

I just finished TNG+movies a week ago and I'm watching DS9 right now. On season 2, it's okay but something just feels different. I love the make-up though for all the aliens they have.

once you hit season 4 you're gonna see some serious shit

Final Unity is really good, basically an great episode put into a point and click adventure game.

Am I the only one who prefers the original series? I just find the characters so much more likable and memorable. Aside from Picard and Data, everyone else in TNG is just so bland and forgettable.

Reminder that, although this picture is fake, this actress did in fact get implants that grew her knockers to this size.

>not liking Riker fucking everything that moved
>not liking Q
>not loling at Worf's autism
>putting up with ToS's shit-tier acting and writing across the board

Mass Effect is literally Star Trek TNG.

"No"

The writing was the same in both series, and everyone except Shatner was fine.

Fuck off nigga.. I haven't even had my morning raktajino yet

>seen for the first time

liar, you just wanted to make a star trek thread

The whole point of his character was he was a twirly mustache villain who thought he was a hero.

Mass Effect takes far more inspiration from Babylon 5

DS9 probably had one of the stronger early runs of a Star Trek show.

Then again I'm only really saying this because one of the best episodes of Star Trek was in season 1 of DS9.

Ds9 is also great and better

Duet was great, but other than that DS9 doesn't actually get good until late in the second season when the Maquis are introduced.

The problem with Trek is every show except TOS had a shitty first two seasons.

I agree it wasn't terrible, but the problem for me was that the first couple of seasons of DS9 was just 'TNG with black captain on stationary space ship', when the Delta Quadrant and the Dominion started featuring heavily and plot threads were carried over from show to show rather than the reset button being hit at the end I started really enjoying it's uniqeness amongst all the Star Trek. Voyager fucked this up royally and just remained 'TNG with female captain' throughout its entire span.

I agree with you, outside of Duet the first two seasons of DS9 were pretty weak, but they were better than the first two seasons of TNG and Voyager. Hell, unlike those other two I didn't feel the immediate desire to find some guide telling me which episodes I could skip. I watched all the way through, and while not amazing it was tolerable.

pfft, original > tng

>Yea but TNG ending was awesome.

Season 1 of TNG is a mixed bag and the physical quality of the sets is poor

Stick with it, sometimes you just have filler episodes or weird episodes that go nowhere, and then you have genre defining episodes

And sometimes you get a last season that's nothing but holodeck episodes.

You're a retarded hipster, shut up.

There's a trope named after that, called Growing the Beard, named so because the show got a lot better at the same time that Riker grew out a beard

>you will never be suave like Riker

ending it lads

Do we have any hope the new CBS Trek show will be good?

Captain. I recommend a full spread of torpedoes!

After all the development hell it's going through, absolutely not.

No. It'll be worse than Enterprise

If I was I would have preferred Voyager or Enterprise instead.

how the fuck am i a hipster
are you saying more people like tng cause thats just false

there was some rts i remember playing

you could like combine a bunch of borg cubes into a giant borg cube

>she is dead

youtube.com/watch?v=edflm7Hh3hs

Shut up Worf! Drink your prune juice

Years of character development and study - of a man who believed he was righteous, compassionate and moral, when really he was a tyrant. Trying to become more than he was, through family or political power, but always falling short.

But at the end he gets glowing red eyes and fire powers meme.

>"It's over, Benjamin. I won. You lost."

O-oh.

Cardassians are so hilariously evil. If Romulans are Nazi Germany (I know they are space Rome but bear with me), the Klingons the Soviets, then the Cardassians are Fascist Italy. Trying so hard to be relevant but always fall flat and have a complex about it.

I plan on watching it all.

I was going to ask this, when does Sisko get his in DS9?

Why did you guys have to remind me about the downfall of my favorite villain...
At least Garak stayed GOAT all through the show

tng seasons 1 and 2 were a mix of good and bad, after that it was much more consistently good with a few bad episodes here and there

the good episodes were some of the best episodes of television ever made, though. the series is great.

don't watch the movies, they're shit.

youtube.com/watch?v=w-s8eCqV10U

>Am I the only one who prefers the original series?
no, there are lots of people out there who did

>Aside from Picard and Data, everyone else in TNG is just so bland and forgettable.
i strongly disagree, especially with respect to worf and his backstory

Here's a fantastic Star Trek TNG game that you can all play right now

youtube.com/watch?v=hVo2kVVChU0

Early TNG sucked, but once the show got going I personally prefer the setting and approach to writing over TOS.

Still waiting for Star Trek Borg to get ported like this to YouTube.

>don't watch the movies, they're shit.

I think it's okay to watch them so long as you go into it knowing that they're shit, that they're the symptom of the disease known as "gotta dumb it down for film audiences" and the reason Nu-Trek is all sizzle no steak

First Contact is definitely worth watching once at the very least

Wasn't there an episode where an even more charming rogueish character came on board and upstaged Riker completely in front of all the women.

No matter how smooth you are, there's always someone better than you.

Yes, and it's retarded. It's just a random dude on a ship and the episode starts out with him being hailed and replying "Why I'm Dirk Dashing, the dashingest man in the quadrant!" and somehow everyone on the bridge just chortles and saying "My number 1, he is rather dashing isn't he?"

The guy that's wanted by two different moons, one for stealing and the other for getting one girl preggo? Yeah that episode was not good

Disagree, it was pretty terrible.

Riker didn't even seem upset that he was getting cucked. He just knew his role and stood out of the way of a more alpha male.

He was the first officer about the Federation flagship, he knew he could afford to let something slide every now and then

Romulans are Space Rome. How do you not get this? They even have magistrates of the same name.

>"I know they are space Rome but bear with me"

Mate did you even read his post?

>no Ferengi Tycoon game
It's a goddamn crime, is what it is
