Just booted this game up on my wii because I felt nostalgic and wanted to relive the good old days when I played Metroid Prime on my gamecube.
But wow the wii controls really are utter fucking shit. I'm still in the tutorial spaceship in space and I already feel like quitting because of the shitty controls.
Who thought it was a good idea to ruin a perfectly good game by introducing the terrible motion controls of the wii. I wish they at least gave you the option to use GCN or Wii classic controller.

Also Metroid thread I guess

No user, the wii controls are perfect. It is YOU who is shit.

Mod your wii and play 1 & 2 on Nintendont.

3 is Wii exclusive though.

I loved the controls.
You need to set them to advanced mode.

Haven't really checked the settings yet. I'll try changing that.

It just seems I am stuck in permanent free aim mode. Locking onto targets doesn't snap my aim to the target and I have to point to targets manually.

Just changed settings around a bit and it's already a lot better. Guess I was too quick in judging this game's controls

>I have to point to targets manually.

Gamers are dead

That's usually not a problem but it is when I have to do it with a wii remote control

The only trouble I had with it was that my arm just went sore after playing for 4 hours or more. But that's because I'm trash at the game and took too long to beat it lel

>playing the inferior versions
>GC versions available for cheap anywhere, or if you're a poorfag, you can play it on a hacked wii
>Prime 3 is irrelevant

why are you wasting time with Trilogy OP?

hahahahahaha
No.

Wii controls suck

>Prime 3 is irrelevant
Only reason why I'm playing trilogy is because of Prime 3 but you're saying I might as well just play 1 and 2 and forget about 3?

I really want to get Dolphin set up so I can play the trilogy on my TV at 1080p with the motion controls.

You want to play 3 OP. It's good, it's got some amazing architecture and some great planets, it's just different and more halo-fied than 1 and 2, still an amazing game to explore.

Prime 3 is not as good as the first two, you might want to play it to follow storyline maybe at least once, but it's an extremely dumbed down experience, with lots of hand-holding, forced upgrades, intrusive cutscenes and a shitty narrative. Basically no replay value and no sequence breaks unlike the first two.

Only worth it to kick Dark Samus ass at the end but that's about it, just an "okay" final chapter.

Hunters is far worse though.

Prime 1 and 2 are great with gamecube controller, just wish there was a mod or hack or something to be able to play Prime 3 with a gamecube controller as well.
I think it's possible to play with a keyboard on mouse on dolphin but haven't tried that yet

It's true, the controls are complete garbage and a tacked-on gimmick but that's not the general consensus on Sup Forums, most people here seem to like Trilogy controls more for whatever retarded reasons.

Oh, and get ready to experience endless tutorials like "use your charge beam to do that", "go to that point and use your missiles", "learn how to use your ship controls, press that button, press this button now" etc

The Prime games are the only ones that use the Wiimote pointing well.

>posts about the shitty Prime FPS spin offs
>""""Metroid""""" thread

Playing any game with aiming using thumb sticks is fucking retarded. Even dumb motion controls are better

It's your fault then and not the fault of the controller. The controller works as intended. Even if the design is utterly shit, it can still be used just as well or even better than a regular controller.

I remember a time before Other M when people weren't this retarded and angry about a mere change of viewpoint. Then MOM happened and the psychotic rage towards Prime erupted and covered the land in a deep layer of shit.

I just want to play games comfortably on my couch and not sit like a hunchback with my remote in a certain position aimed at the screen for hours on end.
Controller is a million times more comfy than motion control crap

Except the game was designed with those limitations in mind. You dont need precise aim in Prime games, just looking around+lock-on.

And everybody ignores that Other M played like crap and had the worst use of the wiimote of any game ever.

No, you fool, FPS games should only use mouse and keyboard, the perfect way to control any game.

The game sadly has aged like shit. It was great at the time, but so many games have done the atmosphere better and the gameplay is certainly trash now that the wow factor is gone

I had no problem with the controls playing through Prime 3 for the first time. I got this trilogy and played through it, no problem. Then I moved, and tried to play this game on a new couch/with a new TV and my wrists were very uncomfortable.

Just have to get the right set up.

Metroid Prime is like people's love for Star Fox 64, really hasn't held up well

(you)

OP already figured out the controls (I'll admit, it confused me why Nintendo didn't make lock on the default scheme) and likes it again. More news at 11

Yet Other M was still a far better METROID title than the Prime shit.

This

>spammable total-invincibility dodge that fully charges your beam in an instant and removes all difficulty
>no health or ammo pickups
>3D full movement with the D-pad

Nah, sorry kiddo, MOM was shit in nearly every single way.
