Trails Cold Steel

Love this, and I'm almost done the first game. Then I will buy the sequel. Sup Forums recommended it so thank you.

coincidentally I saw that they're making a third one for PS4. I hope XSEED is in position to localize it quickly. That would be great.

desperate bump, wanted to know if anyone knows anything about 3.

I'm gonna get back to it after beating pokemon. I got frustrated by the over abundance of cut scenes and decided to play digimon instead.

I saw a thread yesterday with a leaked pic of Alisa with her new outfit. Someone also translated the date for CS3 to be september 2017. I'm taking that info with a grain of salt, but even if thats japans release itll mean we're getting it within a year or two which i can handle

XSEED'll get to it, although it's out in Japan next September, we're getting Trails in the Sky The 3rd next Spring or so, and we still need both Crossbell games localized.

These are the only pictures we've got of CS3 so far.

At this rate I'm considering just getting google glasses to translate the text for the crossbell arc. Beats spending the next few years you know, learning a language.

CS2 is my favourite game, and the biggest disappointment of 2016.

How are the Crossbell games thought of in comparison?

I'm looking forward to it, but I won't be able to play it for awhile. I just went through the first two TiTS recently, and since I played the localized versions I'm just waiting for the localized version of The 3rd. Then Zero and Ao. Then finally Cold Steel.

Can't tell if you're serious or not, but that won't work out. The only way to play them and have any idea what's going on is knowing Japanese.

>Trails in the Sky The 3rd

I'll play the Trails in the sky series after Cold Steel 1 and 2.

I have the first Trails in the sky for Steam and PSP but both times I ended up losing interest before it really got going. now that I've played Cold Steel i'll complete those games.

>CS2 is my favourite game, and the biggest disappointment of 2016.

>that brief window where it's just Rean and Toval alone in the woods

Parts of CS2 are amazing, other parts are trash.
It even retroactively makes story stuff in the first game awful, and I fucking loved CS1

>Localised versions
>Zero and ao
Don't count on it. There are however fang translations in the way, zero on December.

What parts were trash in your opinion? I loved every second of CS2 and first game too

Pretty much any of the antagonists, Duvalie alone can't make up for all the holding back.
The pacing of act II, open world got boring fast.
I liked the politics and lore in Crow's story about his past, but his reasons for what he does is offensively lame.
And his arc is really the only thing that gets concluded in the end, and the more they try to make you care about that fujo bait the worse it gets. SC did it way better.

CS was somewhat self aware anime high school nonsense, but in a fun way.
half of CS2 was battle shounen trash.

not that guy but:
1) enemies ALWAYS hold fucking back showing "true power" after defeat, it gets boring as fuck after a while
2) why the fuck you've gotten corageous is retarded, but it can be explained by trollivier logic.
3) it is very similar in structure to SnK SC

now i need Zero/Ao translations.

>being this much of a weeb
They're okay games, but nothing amazing.

I want to get into Legend of Heroes series, how do I do it? I love everything by Falcom, but I've yet to experience LoH series.

Play either FC or CSI. Preferably FC if you aren't in a rush.

Trails in the Sky FC, then TitS SC. the 3rd one will be out next year.

Or you can just skip to Cold Steel 1. There's references and extra context behind certain characters actions that you might miss, but its not unplayable by any means.

Either way theres a 2 game gap in the middle that hasnt been localized, and has direct ties to the cold steel games.

You can choose to play either Trails in the Sky trilogy or the Cold Steel trilogy

It's more of a preference thing

i would say he should go with Trails in the Sky.
last game in series is getting a 2017 eng release.

system is a bit older, it has a lot of details that matter in future.

plus they are on PC so poorfag can always pirate them.

Thanks a lot, I'll go buy Trails in the Sky then. Is there anything I should know before diving in? I heard that it's a text-heavy series.

Do you want better gameplay, OST and graphics? Go with Cold Steel.

Do you want a better main cast and a setting outside high school? Go with Sky.

The rule for all of these games is you will need to play with a guide open (there are relatively non-spoilery ones) if you want to do a run with the maximum grade for nice prizes and carryover bonuses. Lots of hidden quests, everything expires etc. The earlier games are also markedly slower.

Obsessively talk to everyone all the time, also twice.
Lots of NPC's have second conversations to give after the first one.

Talking to people in your hometown at the start of the second game is really tense and crazy, but it wouldnt work unless you talked a bunch to them in the first game.

The game's charm really is in all the world building it does

The first games are sloooooooooow, with mostly focusing on chara introduction and worldbuilding to an autistic degree. You might get bored, a lot of people do.

Sky's OST is killer though
youtube.com/watch?v=vJii4niqc78

>OST
That's arguable. CS has better production values but imo Sky's usage of the Hoshi no Arika, Gin no Ishi and Sora no Kiseki melodies throughout the OST made it more memorable.

A typical RPG from Falcom, then. I still remember how I was supposed to talk to every man in the first town of Ys to get a sword. It's a special kind of pleasure.

If I love the trails series, but never touched another Falcom game, what should I try?

I got warned away from playing Xanadu though.

So which girls are likely to receive an upgrade?

>beat final boss in CSII
>game continues
>play as some fuccboi and a hot bombshell from unlocalized geimus
>finish chapter
>game still continues
What the fuck. I just want it to finish now, so I can play Steins;Gate 0.

You've still got one big dungeon to fight through.
But they let you use Claire and Alfin and Elise, so its good

You mean bigger tits? Only Millium and Fie are still growing, but they won't get tits because they are designed to hook lolicons.

What about Towa? I want a full on loli group.

>Elise
Into the fucking trash.

You can also add Altina if you have the money for it.

Can anybody tell me if this is a sequel or something?
I started the game at level 49 or so and got confused.

It's just a flash forward.
II does start you at a higher level, but only about 40.

Ys series, absolutely. One of the first action RPGs ever made, and one of the best. If you're into retro gameplay, start with Ys I+II on Steam, otherwise Ys VI will be your starting point.
Xanadu is second action RPG ever made, and it's highly unplayable by today's standards, but Xanadu Next is a pretty good dungeon crawler.
Next we have Brandish, half-puzzle, half-RPG, where you traverse a dungeon filled with traps, enemies and breakable equipment, truly a nerve-wracking experience. In a good way. Latest game is Brandish: The Dark Revenant on PSP, emulate it.
If you're into old untranslated stuff, you could try Dragon Slayer: Legend of Heroes, a very early precusor to the modern LoH series, and Popful Mail, a metroid-like RPG.
Also there is NINNE.
Plenty of games to play.

That new model looks a lot better, even though it's still low budget ps2 trash.

>Rean the mean machine and his loyal squadron "hungry for headpats"

Im adverse to action combat, but I think Ill grab either Ys I+II or VI, which ever one goes on sale first.

>it's been confirmed that Sora characters will reappear in CS3
Watch it be something absolutely unhype. Like Grant&Carna, or Duke Dunan.

CS1 intro starts off by showing you what will happen in the future before you get to the "prologue" chapter where Rean starts in school.

If so, you should try Brandish, because the combat there is pretty slow, almost feels like turn-based. And also Vantage Master Portable, it's a tactical RPG. Don't know if it's translated though.

Sora characters have already appeared. Oliver and Mueller primarily, but also that one eyed Vander guy and Blueblanc.

Slightly older Tita would be nice

Calvard game when?

*record scratch*
Yeah, that's me, right there. Wait, no no not Mr. tall dark and handsome. I'm the guy with the BADASS freaking sammurae sword. Yeaaah, baby, that's me. Currently kicking the BUTTS of some REALLY freaky robodudes, trying to... Oh, like, I don't know, SAVE the entirety of Crossbell? How did I get myself into this hot darn mess? To explain that, we need to rewind time a couple months.

>Anelace will never get L3 orbment slots
Still invincible though

Everybody in The 3rd does though.

Is Anelace is 3rd?

Yes
