X-2 is better

i hear a lot of people say that ff died with x
do they mean that x was the last good one or the first bad one?

Too linear.

>start a game
>enter in the first battle, and see the combat have some stupid battle system based in dancing
>realizes your party is composed by three sluts shaking their STD distributors in the middle of a fight
>quit

You managed to make the game sound even better than it was

X is honestly the most emotionally coherent FF. One might actually say it is the best FF of all and isn't so far from the truth. But FFVII remake will probably rape FFX.

X is worse than XIII

...

No it isn't. And I don't even like X.

Final Fantasy died with Squaresoft
You can quite literally see it with the Kingdom Hearts franchise
>KH1
>Squaresoft
>Endearing story and fun gameplay

>KH2
>Square Enix
>Organization XII fucking takes over the story
>Exploration is gone, in leu of corridors
>Gameplay is now a particle effect clusterfuck

youtube.com/watch?v=H47ow4_Cmk0

>X was shit
>somehow is the most memorable ff along with VII

What happened? Even total normulons can recognize some X characters

Sad truth.
Yes it is.

Replaying this now makes me wonder how the story was praised back then.
The 2 main characters are absolute trash if it was for Auron and Lulu's lulus i would have dropped it.

It had a based OST - youtube.com/watch?v=c2SHDFt8pSc

>MUH LINEARITY XDDDD
You have to go back.

I hate this epic new meme.

But XII came after X and was infinitely better than X.

On a vaguely related note, I'm actually kind of glad that the Xenogears sequel was never commissioned. I dread to think what would've become of it.

FFX is probably one of the worst jrpg out there.
>map is a long hallway
>random battles are rock paper scissors
>MC is a complete retard
>Unskipable 15 minute cutscenes every two steps
>Story forces drama down your throat then Teedos ruins any kind of emotional attachment
Just a few

Playstation 2

Yeah but XII was still bad.

XII is not bad.

I couldn't get into this game. Still have it, but every time I try to play I play for a while, get shit on by a boss, and have to do a slow painful grind.

>game plays itself
>atrocious main character
>story is boring
>bland ost
>license board makes everyone the same
>90% of side content is hunts
>bazaar system is entirely arbitrary
It's bad.

>Perfect JRPGs don't ex....
i hate this meme so much. more than "dust settled", more than "apologize", more than anything on this garbage board.

...

>sick of memes
>spends all day on Sup Forums

You'll never make me choose between Earthbound and Mother 3, just like you can't make me choose between Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitters 3. They are all perfect.

>Braindead walk forward to win main game
>Only like 2 bosses in main game that can be considered challenging
>Side content is just grind to max stats because everything else is max stats like Dark Aeons.

Don't say Yojimbo also i'm aware of RNG pay to win it doesn't make the end game not shit.

>Seymour Flux and Yunalesca
>Challenging
Wew lad

>Yunalesca

>Watch a stream
>Uses like all of his holy water trying to remove Zombie every time Hellbiter is used until he ran out
>Fight takes almost an hour
>He thinks he killed her
>Nope, Mega Death

This. Through 'age/favorite vidya' type threads I've learned that most of Sup Forums is young as fuck. It's no surprise that the board is filled with garbage memes.

>Fuck boy falls in love with super conservative girl in the cheesiest love story ever imagined
>Also its all a dream xd

FFX fags need to kill themselves.

That's like saying RTS plays itself.

The best Silent Hill civil alert I've heard youtube.com/watch?v=USxbfEZvq48

The biggest problem was that all random battles were just using the corresponding character to the enemy archetype and one shotting it. The sphere grid was tons of fun if you played around with it and jumped into different paths and some bosses were fun to fight, Yunalesca comes to mind.

cinematic experience, the game is the best jrpg? No wonder the genre is total garbage

I think ff7 is that game.

FF10 was the beginning of the end for final fantasy.

The combat in XII is fine, the soundtrack is the worst part.

How hard will this game get shit on if it was released today

A lot of what makes X memorable is just how much the tutorial sections just fucking blew you away

>huge sci-fi city
>Otherworld screaming over Sin's destruction
>everything about Auron in the intro "We called it Sin..."/"SOME CAN'T WAIT TO DIE"/"It all begins here..."
>stuck in a foreign land
>from a futuristic setting to thousands of years in the future... past???
>my hometown is mecca now?

Much of the rest of the game is rather dull and monotonous but goddamn is the start enough to get new players hooked.

The only other one of the 3d FFs that has an opener that really compares is 7.

The tutorial section lasts up until Luca at shortest and Thunder Plains at longest.

every single encounter with seymour is fantastic. he feels like a proper villain. especially the cutscene before you "kill" him. also the lead up to the yunalesca fight is awesome.

The only thing I liked about Seymour was how ridiculous he was. His voice was such a cliche sissy villain. I'm surprised he never slapped Tidus playfully. But fantastic? Hell no.

His final fight has one of the best boss OSTs in the series though. And his first 3 fights are really good boss battles in general.

VIII has the same thing. It starts off in a new world, people go to school to become mercenaries, you drift the globe taking part in various proxy wars and assassinations and it's all great and that. Then disc 2 happens, everything becomes stupidly outlandish with time travel bullshit and the amnesia backstory creating even more plot holes and it's all downhill from there.

>His final fight has one of the best boss OSTs in the serious though
Just so we're clear Challenge is better youtube.com/watch?v=3XFlR4MQaQI

Each to their own. Honestly it's impossible to go wrong with X's boss battle themes. They're all impeccable.

>Enemy Attack
>Challenge
>Seymour Battle
>Jecht's Otherworld demo version
>Summoned beast battle.

>Enemy Attack
Remaster only though - youtube.com/watch?v=AeEnGuC1r8s

Also you left out the best one - youtube.com/watch?v=VTxqsTfDgC4

lmao

>remake enemy attack

No. It sounds awful.

Garbage memes, and more importantly, shit taste.

I understand and readily agree with many of the flaws of this game, but I will never understand peoples' frothing hatred for it.

That said, I hate FF12 with a fiery, burning passion, so maybe I'm just weird.

Nostalgia cuck with shit taste confirmed.
XII is one of the most hated in the series.

Why do you hate FF12?

typical fffags reply

>I never understand why people hate my favs
>lmao I hate ff12 with a passion

>start playing FF12
>Bullshit limits the only slightly fun thing in game mechanics
>get to midgame bosses
>manage to pull off 40 minutes of consecutive bullshit limits
>1% hp lost
>into the trash it goes.

I understand your hate.

One thing is that the OST is massively forgettable, that is inexcusable for a series that is known for its outstanding music.

VIII, X and XIII are serious contenders for worst JRPGs ever made but their soundtracks were all amazing.

Not that guy but I didn't like FF12 because way too much grinding and the license board was the worst shit ever.

I don't like the way the cymbals drown out everything else in the track. The original has a feel to it that makes all the fights feel very big and weighty. The remaster just sounds like noise to me.

I'm not messing about here, I really hate the remaster enemy attack. It specifically is the altered track that ruins the HD version for me. I can take many of the others but not it.

As long as we agree that Yuna's Decision sounds infinitely better in the remaster we're cool youtube.com/watch?v=H9bq3UkU_lk

>nostalgia cuck
The original is better though. The remaster isn't awful but it definitely misses the point if it's trying to imitate or improve upon the original.

That would be because neither of these two were involved with the OST.

>X and XIII
>amazing soundtracks
>shitting on XII soundtrack

Nah

Kill yourself.

XII's soundtrack is 100% orchestral fluff.
Nigger confirmed.

I hated it because

>the entire party is overall dull and has little chemistry
>80% of the story is you just roaming around from point a to b to c to d on fools errands while occasionally a cutscene would show the actual plot going on thousands of miles away without any involvement.
>the mastermind (Venat's) plans and actions make absolutely no sense under scrutiny
>the balancing of side content like the espers is very strange with most of it being beefgated for a very long time level wise only once you start reaching the right level for one of them you almost immediately overlevel for everything else
>levels that weren't wide open wastelands (deserts and beaches) generally sucked. The game did broad flat expanses well, but things like forests were just mazes of wooden platforms. And draklor laboratory was just a series of boring corridors with nothing much interesting
>The viera were fucking cunt douchebags and retroactively ruined them for me in tactics
>the games promotional material really highlighted all the airships but in game airships are overall irrelevant and superseded by teleport stones.

And finally

>an overall feeling of wasted potential. So many elements of ivalice left untapped. No bangaa teammates. Archades is barely explored. Larsa and Al-Cid have way more charisma then your actual party members.

Yeah I do agree but Yuna's decision is just a cutscene track whereas enemy attack is the main boss battle theme. Even if I didn't like the former it's far less pervasive then EA, hence why my dislike of the remaster EA is a major sore point.

It'd be like if they remade the original C&C and totally fucked up act on instinct.

>worst JRPGs ever made

Somebody didn't play Avalon Code.

Reminder Movement in Green's remaster has an ehru in it youtube.com/watch?v=tAc-yvlNWXc&t=1458s

I'm not a big JRPG fan so I've never even heard of that. The only ones I've really played are Dragon Quest, Persona and Tales of some of the later Tales of games give those three Final Fantasy games a run for their money but all the Persona and Dragon Quest games I've played have been based.

FFX is great because it was the last good game before Square started going to shit.

This video alone shows all the talent that were still there before things took a turn for the worst:

youtube.com/watch?v=-tzf-baZ1Bc

The battle system is bullshit.
I know, there were those meme responses when the game first came out "Hur dur it plays itself" but there are many times where that's 100% true. It's just, flat, not fun.

Anything involving any art or music. It's all bland and boring. I HATED FF13 too, but there I could tell you things about its environment and its music and character design. It was all very memorable. When I think of FF12, all I see are dull greys and beiges, punctuated with the florescent blues and pinks of the battle UI, and though I've played through the game three separate times, I couldn't hum you a single tune from its soundtrack.

The Story is bullshit.
Again, I've played through the game three distinct times, and I've played through the first ten or so hours at least five or six times besides (I had a scratched disc when I was younger), and I could recite the basic order of events, but I couldn't tell you how they interconnected or what the story was as a whole. FFX wasn't a very good game, but it had a story with a great structure. It had a very well defined beginning, middle and end. These are characters, and they're going on a very tangible quest with a clear goal, and everything between here and there are obstacles to overcome.
In FF12, there's none of that. THere's a lot of traveling, but there's no clearly articulated over-arching goal. Just a lot of "Hey let's go over here, and hope the plot catches up with us when we get there!" FF12 starts the trend that continues in 13 and Type-0 and predictably 15, where things don't happen to people, things happen to countries and landmarks, and because the people in our party care about those things, we're expected to care about them too, but storytelling doesn't fucking work like that.

Toriyama is still with the company though.

This is easily the best song from the HD Remaster:

Too Linear
The love story was hamfisted and almost as unbelievable as Squall and Rinoa.
Poor voice direction for the dub.

>The love story was hamfisted and almost as unbelievable as Squall and Rinoa.
Tidus doesnt get with Yuna until after she gets into an emotional breakdown, which is fitting for Tidus's character.

They shouldn't have let you name Tidus. Kind of stupid, Yuna goes the whole game without saying Tidus's name, even when she says I love you.

>I love you
Reminder the original is "Thank you"

Fuck posted the wrong image

This. Its completely ludicrous.

water and coke, how could I forget

>AU where Tidus is referred to by name
>but they all call him 'Teedus'
>game sells barely half of what it did in this universe because no kid wants to play as a faggot named teedus.

I was really disappointed with Arcades. They spent the whole game before then hyping it up since it was the Imperial capital and it ends up being like 3 screens with linear walkways.

FFXII is usually regarded as one of the most "explorable" Final Fantasies with the most overall landmass, but Arcades was such a letdown.

TEEDUS

AaAaAalllll these OPINIONS

>Wanting to play Tidus at all
>Things that never happened

Listening to that just made me tear up.

Do I need to kill myself anons?

Tidus was valuable for Haste access.

>wanted to like FFX
>writing is pure garbage
>MC barely questions anything and just goes along with everyone like nothing happened

But it is Teedus
>ティーダ

X is trash though

IGN FF ranking as of May 2016

1. FFVI
2. FFXII
3. FFIX
4. FFIV
5. FFV
6. FFVII
7. FFIII
8. FFI
9. FFX
10. FFXIII
11. FFVIII
12. FFII

Reminder this is the canon list

:^)

I thought he was named Tidus because it sounded like Tida which is Okinawan for Sun, like Cloud or Squall.
Its because we speak English that we want to call him T(a)idus, as in Tide. Then again, Cloud and Squall are in English. Would have been fun calling him Blaze. Just look at his hair.

>ign
>ffx below FF12 and 9

that's unironically a solid list, i would cull everything past point six and put Tactics at the top though.

Daily reminder if you buy Square Enix productions you're supporting the Triad and destruction of the industry.
