Is that the candy color super saturated one?

It didn't get a western release until the PS1 and by then VII was people's main focus.

It's sandwiched between 2 superior games

Not with IV's plot.

IV had a great character driven story you knob

Not epic enough for some people.

>those are some nice characters you got there. It'd be a shame if they suddenly were taken off of your party for story purposes.

It's trapped in the comedy ghetto

People who say this have serious nostalgia goggles.

FFIV's story is as bad as FFXIII.

>story consequences are considered bad on neo/v/

>story consequences
>getting punished for something you have no power over
>good

I mean, Galuf died in V, but at least that's just only time that happens. There's literally no reason to blue ball out of recruiting Yang again.

FUCK. YOU.

The only remotely bad part of the story is the dumb alien spaceship ending

No story.

As someone who has replayed it four times in the past two years for the Fiesta, I feel like the game goes downhill after the crystals are shattered. You lose a real strong motivation to continue, and like 70% of the last world is optional. Also, the only characters who get any development after world 1 are Cara/Galuf.

>I WAS A SPLINTER ALL ALONG

I thought that world 2 was the best part.

But they don't even die
It's all fake blueballing drama, they just scare you again and again, each time less effective than the last

V has the best class system but little merit beyond that

Between 2 borefests you mean.

The worst part is that even though everyone except Tellah magically comes back, you can't go back and replace Kain for Fang, or Rydia and Rosa for Palom/Porom. It would be kinda cool if you could customize.
At least the DS remake kinda did that.

>those other 2 games are boring, which is why they receive more attention

IV's story is quaint but in no way a great story. When it was first released it was pretty monumental story for a console JRPG, but it's been superseded in every way at this point.

Basically. There is so little challenge to them that people like it because they don't have to use their brain.

Of course you judge it against other games of that time, not against Witcher 3 or something

So how is V more challenging? As I recall the jobs system allows you to create gods with diverse skill sets in every department

FFV is my favorite in the whole series.

Which requires playing the game. 4 gives no choice and is basic as fuck while 6 is so easy it doesn't matter to begin with. Meanwhile I'm 5 even filler bosses like bombs fuck your shit when you don't know what you're doing.
