>Welcome to a state of some confusion, delicious friend!
Maybe looking in that mirror wasn't such a good idea.

Does anyone know how to very quickly gain Whispered Hints? I need 1000, and I have 58. I can get some in Veilgarden, but that's like 5 - 10 at a time.

...

If you're not a PoSI then you have to do it the hard way

I am visiting the shuttered palace and working on my light novel right now but my scandal increases every time I use the wrong fork or some shit.

Fuck. What's the hard way?

I know that type of feeling. I got 99 problems and Suspicion is 7 of them.

Are you the Darling of the Ambassador's Ball yet? You can get 55 of them for a Persuasion check in Veilgarden if you are

No, I ain't. How do I get to be so?
Currently trapped in a nightmare with 0 actions to my name.

Start the Persuasion storyline in Veilgarden and increase your Name Penned in Whatever quality

Shall do. Thanks, hombre.
Is that the only way until I hit PoSI status? Spend 20 actions replaying that shit?

You can also swap 1000 Jade, Amber or Rostygold for 1100 Hints in the Labyrinth of Tigers but that requires you to be well ahead in the Dangerous storyline

If you want absolutely anything in large amounts, grind is the only way to get it

I need to dive back into this game. Started really figuring it out on my last play through but stopped after Overwatch came out. I can sink hours into this game without even thinking.

is the Zubmariner DLC worth it?

Welp, grind it is.I take it this is only going to get harder when I start seeking, right?

After around 20h with my last (third) captain, I think I'm done with the game.
I really enjoyed it after I started using manual saves and tried out some stupid shit.

Oh yes. It is so worth it.

Me too. There's nothing like the feeling you get after a long and hard journey, sailing back into Fallen London with a hold full of treasures, and empty fuel tank and 75% less crew than you set off with.

care to explain why you think so? I've heard it was unfinished in some storylines.

...

This game was terrible

Yes, but be warned that everything has more health and does more damage under the sea.
The new areas are also somewhat unforgiving with their stat checks, so make sure you're prepared.

3rd? Man, you can't have done half the shit available to you! What ending did you pick?

Oh man oh boy, here we fucking go.

How do I start seeking, by the way? I tried sending a Calling Card to Mr Eaten, but apparently that's not a thing I can do.

>3rd? Man, you can't have done half the shit available to you!
I've been playing for 20 hours with that one captain and got most of the map uncovered.
I don't feel the need to read every story.

>What ending did you pick?
None yet.
But I got the father thing, so I'm probably going to try and end that.
I'm at the point with the fathom king, which seems to be towards the end of that questline.
But from what I remember (haven't played since the 12th), he wants a lot of different shit.

Gain a point of Unaccountably Peckish, then draw cards until ACE OF HUNGERS shows itself

Simplest way to make yourself hungry is eat Rubbery Lumps at the Carnival, if you keep at it you'll get it eventually

>Sunless Sea Zubmariner is already in your steam library

the fuck ? Did they gave him for free to backers ? I don't remember buying that

>which seems to be towards the end of that questline
That's just the start, you're going to end up doing most of the available content getting all the things he wants

Thanks man, appreciate it.

Have they fixed the font - that is to say, can you upscale the font size yet?

I play on a large screen and it was killing me. I know they said they were going to fix it a while back.

This is a thing they did, yes

My nigga, thank you.

>Best girl in a Sunless Sea thread
Comfy.

Alright, what's Stormy-Eyed and how do I get it?
I assume it's relating to the Dreaming of... cards, specifically the one where you can choose to go back into the forest or not, but how do I actually obtain the status?

You draw cards constantly for the better part of 2 months until you have like 20 What The Thunder Said

>This grind

Fucking shit.
You're lucky your writing's so good, Failbetter.

>tfw you don't even bother reading the text anymore and just watch the numbers go up

I'm still invested in reading at the moment, but this mid-game grind to PoSI is taking the goddamn michael.

>[5] Go!

Sunless Sea was boring as hell

Yeah, if you don't care about the lore/don't like the writing the gameplay itself ain't gonna tide you over.

So the sale seems like a good time to finally grab this, but do I want Zubmariner as well, or just the base game for now? Zubmariner isn't actually on sale, so I don't lose anything by waiting, but is the expansion kind of essential?

I have so very many questions regarding this thing.

Is this what you get if you accept the box? The game keeps trying to give me a box, and I'm mighty suspicious so keep refusing.

Probably best to see if you like the base game first, Zubmariner is a decent expansion but it's more of the same in most respects

>Is the expansion kind of essential?

Not at all, but there's not really any harm in starting with it.
Just buy the base game and them make the jump if you like it.

Is the grind to get PoSI even worth it or is it just more grind afterwards.

>the box
Oh fuck, what box? You mean the heavy iron box you have to steal from the courier? I have that, but I don't know how to get it open.
I don't know how you get Starveling Cats (can you get Starveling Cats?) but the side stories intrigue me.

What DID it find in the Oubliette?

>or is it just more grind afterwards

Gotcha, thanks guys. One more: do I want to play in Wuss Mode first, or just accept that the first few runs will be fuckups so there's no point trying to achieve stuff with them?

From what I know? More grind, but apparently the grind is actually worth something. Mid-game grind's supposed to be the worst because it's just pure grind with nothing to show for it except when you finally reach PoSI.

What's an ice fairy doing playing this anyway?

Try regular first just so you can get the experience, but don't feel like you have to persevere with it. Some of the game is kind of bullshit to deal with and some parts are just tedious to do more than once.

>can you get Starveling Cats?
Yes, from other players or very rarely from the cat parcel you get from time to time

You'll need one for Seeking

>You'll need one for Seeking

Cool!
Fuck!

Don't suppose you got any spare ones lying around?

As a matter of fact, I do

Huh, then if I gave you my profile would you be willing to let a nigga have one? Dunno what I can offer you in return though, I'm not yet a PoSI.

Oh, you don't have anything I could possibly want

Consider it a gift

Very simply saying? It is what happend when cat start fucknig Seeking and get too deep into it.

Diamond.

And/or a terrifying descent into madness and a dead character.

Finally retired my captain with a colony ending, after accomplishing literally everything else but the immortality. It's time for that. But damn, I can't get used to not having 250 iron.

Is Fallen London playable on android anyway? I could play that on the move maybe.

You'll have to find your way back to London before I can send it to you

>There's actually a Fallen London thread on Sup Forums
>Didn't even know that Sunless Sea was tied to it
Today is a good day

Accept my card, user. I have few things for you.

Ah yeah, sorry. Forgot I was still in a confused state.
I got no actions right now so I'll let them charge up and then drop my nightmares to 0. That's how you get out, right? Can't see any other way.

>SS is tied to FL

You don't even know. Half of setting is hidden in this game. I love how both of those make perfect sense into each other and how much you can find in one connected to another.

Gimme 2 minutes and 29 seconds while I get an action and I'll accept.

A small thing I noticed in Fallen London: you don't actually have to move into new lodgings to get the opportunity cards, just own the key. I was stocking up on the keys just so I had them, but didn't want to move yet (don't know if you lose the plant) and started seeing opportunity cards for other dwellings appear. So, if you have the rats/rostygold/whispers/glim/whatever, might be worth getting those keys.

Unless you're desperate for Certifiable Scrap, that's just a good way to clutter your Opportunity Deck with shitty cards mid-late game

I had the opposite experience - two months ago I was purchasing a game because it was described as "Lovecraft in the sea", now I'm balls-deep in a fantastical search for a name that's actually kept secret in real life.

>Just lost two armfuls of Certifiable Scrap on a 50/50 chance

I mean I know it was 50/50 but still.
Fuck you, Curt Relicker, I saved your dumb ass.

Calling this piece of shit "video game" should be a criminal offense.

Atmosphere - 7.5/10
Gameplay - 2/10
And it gets 2 just because it's not (too) bugged

Do lodgings affect what cards you can draw or just how many of them you can hold?

So just starting sunless sea, any major tips? I know that the early game is all about the port reports, for what it's worth.

How many you can hold, as well as the card associated with that lodging

Unless you've got one of the Remote Address lodgings from Christmas, which prevents you getting any of the shitty City Vices cards

Salt Lions are your friend for easy money at first, but you can't do them indefinitely.
Don't overextend yourself too much at first - learn how much trips are gonna cost you in fuel and supplies.
Don't worry too much about dying at first, you'll learn through you deaths and eventually unlock things to make your next captain's life easier.
Lastly, it's important to UN. THE SUN. THE SUN. THE SUN. THE SUN.THE S

>as well as the card associated with that lodging

Are there any worthwhile? I'm, currently lodging at a Cottage by the Observatory, is there anything I'm missing by not moving up in spaces aside from more cardspace?

More scrap, better rewards. Basically. You'd have to go look them to see if there's anything you really want but more cards is always better

I really hated it the first time I played it and had bad memories but I recently went back and decided to give it another go and was pleasantly surprised.

I'll say this. You HAVE to play with cheat engine giving you a million echoes to buy max everything. I'm sorry if you enjoy the sea captain trader lifestyle but it is not fun in any capacity to make a trip back to london doing a trade route for what amounts to like three real life hours to be able to slowly expand your range. It's just far too slow.

With that said I think the writing is very charming and the world that Sunless Sea presents is a really interesting one even if it's just text.

I'd much rather be in these locations exploring for real but it's not the sea crawling shitfest I remember it being.

They gave it to most people who bought the game when it was still early access.

Already ordered it. Looks a lot better than the in-game map ever does.

I think the game would have benefitted from having a small storage in your houses.

Undoubtedly, but there's a mod for that.

I just ended up spending two afternoons trying to get the cargo up from 40 to 65 from the ship I bought. Forgot it's name, but I think it was the corvette.

It's worth noting that you can't sell your lodgings. I made the horrible mistake of getting all of the worse one for PoSI and now my deck is filled with lodgings cards.

7 SMEN, the grind is real and I haven't even gottten to the grind yet

I now own a Bifurcated Owl. It frightens me.

There's always a way.

Ah, ah, ah, ah

Yes, yes, I know about getting rid of them during the Seeking but I have no interest in seeking on this account.

STAYIN' ALIVE
STAYIN' ALIVE

>Out of the nightmare void
FINALLY.
Now back to the grind to PoSI.

>grinding for PoSI
Maybe afterwards. It's a relatively painless process if you've been keeping up with your skills.

I've been keeping up with them to an extent, depending on what you mean. How do you "keep up" with them, exactly? I've been doing storylets and pumping them when necessary for certain actions, but I haven't been specifically focusing on one or the other. Watchful is my current highest with Persuasive as the lowest.

Mostly just increasing your "A Name..." qualities. In terms of tedium, Persuasive > Shadowy > Watchful > Dangerous. You'll obviously need 100 (modified) points to get to actually become a PoSI.

Yeah, I got that Persuasive is gonna be a bit of a bitch. It started out as my highest, but it's behind by almost half of my highest stat.

It's a shame, because Persuasive is longterm one of the most useful stats, second only to watchful. You can use it in all of the Dramatic Tension carousels, which are generally the most efficient ways to get PoSI-specific items.

Watchful/Persuasive have been good to me so far. Professions, I take it, are always useful for boosting shit to the 70's but lose their value as a PoSI due to the higher experience required?

I never actually spent enough time with a training profession to get any skill boosts out of it. You're best off spending your Professional Rewards on Antique Mysteries.

What kinda shit do you get from Antique Mysteries? So far I've accepted two rewards and they've been almost solely responsible for getting my Dangerous into the 50's.

You can feed them to your Raven, or combine them into Primeval Hints (also for your Raven), and Searing Enigmas are always worth keeping around. You can also just sell all of it for mad dosh.

Sounds good, I'm always in need of more dosh.
Sold a Searing Enigma for a sugar-sweet £62.50, blew it all on an overcoat and now I've got like 12 quid to my name.

I wonder.

Guess he ain't feelin' it.
