How's that PC doing?

Mine is working just fine

I would upgrade to an RX 480, but I know that I would set myself up for disappointment due to my CPU.

It should last me for until the next gen consoles come out

Built in preparation for Witcher 2.

It's getting over the hill. I had a random blue screen the other day. And I'm really having to crank games down to low or medium just to play them now.

You could just go with a RX470.
I am running my [email protected] with a RX470.

>1070 arriving today to replace my aging 670
>Probably just gonna end up playing the same games I play now but maxed out
So what's the new graphical benchmark game these days? The new battlefield?

>FX 6300 @ 4.2ghz
Why did you do that to yourself?

1080P

Just bought a 1440 144hz 1ms monitor and a GTX 1080, how'd I do?

you can get a 1060 and it should do good. nvidia does well with weaker cpu.

FX 6300
HD 7750 slightly oc

thinking about buying a rx 480, but im fine for now

6600k @ 4.5ghz
gtx 970 @ 1524mhz/4000mhz

suits my needs, don't plan on upgrading anything for another 2 years at least. i mostly just emulate.

MSI RX480 (got it this week to replace my r9280x)

>mfw i didn't felt for the nvidia meme
>mfw 970 owners are already getting fucked by niggervidia
>mfw this rx480 will last for atleast 3 more years

Hell, my 280x was still running most games on high/ultra... while it's old competitor the 770 was irrelevant for a good while thanks to nvidia gimping their old cards...

>i5 6600k
>GTX 980
>1080p
Want to get a 1080 and 1440p monitor but can't really justify it. I'll probably wait until next GPU cycle and buy a 1170 or 1180 and upgrade my monitor.

they're not though. aib 970's still kick ass today. jokerproductions did a test last month with the most popular 390 and 970 at around the same price point and the 970 won by upto 10 fps in bf1 (amd optimized title).

stock nvidia cards suck shit (because of low clocks and muh power consumption) but the aftermarket cards are still top buys because of the oc's they come with and also because they can overclock by a massive amount. any aftermarket 780 ti is actually faster than an rx 480 and gtx 970, contrary to what stock benchmarks show.

youtube.com/watch?v=X_lrY-3aiME
youtube.com/watch?v=a7HgKRmp2Dg
youtube.com/watch?v=5mPS6oSt6Nw
youtube.com/watch?v=SLj_QKPHLt4

these are just a few examples, but it clearly shows the 780 ti hasn't been gimped like everyone likes to meme since it's competing with the gtx 1060, 970 and rx 480 and beats them in many cases. stock benchmarks would make you think that it's worse than a 290.

Lasted a lot longer than I thought it would but I'm planning on grabbing a 1080 and an Acer XB271HU. Dunno which brand I'll go with though.

GTA 5 is a good one due to how much it uses CPU and GPU when maxed out and it's pretty well optimized

That's was a really good card. Although I wouldn't use it anymore due 2GB only VRAM alone.

I can play any game I want with varying settings, I see no reason to upgrade. Honestly I'm surprised both my PSU and HDD have held for over 6 years no with no signs of failure.

Thinking of upgrading from 2 monitors to 3 and upping my graphics card.
I have no idea if I should even consider leaving the original graphics card in or if it would hold back the better card after installing.

I know, but getting 30 fps in Total War Attila on the campaign map is also a little disappointing. Other than that everything runs great so far.

>GTX 950 2gb
>FX 6300

Works alright would rather be able to play on low/60+fps than high/30fps so it suits me fine but I'm switch to Intel as soon as I get enoguh money to upgrade

the card is starting to choke so I want to replace it. Looking to get a 1070 this black friday. I figure I can bump my processor up to 4.5.

it's cheap af

It's fine. I can squeeze a few more good years out of my 950, especially since I don't find myself playing that many new games.

What I do need is a new CPU fan. Fucking amd cpus run hot as a motherfucker. Anyone have any recommendations? I don't think that 212 would fit in my case so I need an alternative

niggas how do you do?

Dont know why Fallout 4 defaults to low settings. Shouldnt my systems be able to crank that?

>i5 2500k @ 4GHz

It runs well enough if I'm willing to settle for 45fps and turning off some post-processing effects. Not sure if it'll last much longer with developers shitting out these poorly optimized ports though.

Vishera 8350 Octocore 4Ghz OC to 4.6 currently with a Noctua DH15 cooler sitting on it
MSI GTX 1070

Running beautifully. Constantly viewing multiple 1080 streams while gaming on ultra in OW/Vermintide/KF2. Cost me ~1200 to build but my old PC died a couple of months ago and I came in some money from selling some property I owned.

It's awesome.

It's ok.

shitty amdrone built last year

waiting for the new intel CPUs to drop before I upgrade from my 6300fx

can't beleive I fell for the AMD meme.

i am not happy about my temps

I'm trying to get a 1070 from black friday sales.

I want to buy a 970, is my 2500k @ 4.4 GHz enough for that?

I was looking for a 470 but most of the 480's where cheaper taking the rebate and civ vi into account (even if you aren't in the market you could sell it for 20-30 easilly).

>i5 4460
>used 280x I've had for a year
I'm getting a 1060. my 280x is fucking dying. my power supply sucks. it's overheating, it's throttling itself. I'm pissed.

Doing great, have a GTX 1080 powering 3 1080P monitors and just destroy in BF4 and BF1, I also have all the consoles too.

Its not devs, its your GPU being literal trash. Get a 970 AT LEAST.

i5-6600k
390
pretty good I guess, all games ran at least high 60+ fps easily, I have't played dishonoured 2 however.

I mean, it's both his GPU and shitty unoptimized games.

i bet you still get shit on. what's your k/d?

the 1060 is great, i heavily recommend it.

the 1070 and 1080 are overkill.

pcpartpicker.com/list/FMkjNN
for someone who only has a 2 year old laptop is this a good buy?

You think a 1060 and fx8320 would work well

I had the same setup with a slightly worse cpu and I could run Deathwing on ultra with constant 60 fps, as well as Witcher 3 without hairfx. Now ive got a 1080.

Good optimized games still exist, user.

chilly GPU breh

oh shit, that's the exact build I'm planning to do, how's the performance? No bottlenecking form the CPU?

can i ask you please which cpu cooler do you use?

guy you actually bought an amd processor?

Is it worth putting a 1060 in a machine with an i7 930 OC to 3.6 ghz? Will the old cpu bottleneck me?I'm running with a 950 now bur I want to hit 1080p 60 on highish settings in more games. I could also potentially OC a bit more I that would help.

>want new GPU to replace R9 290
>either $400 or $700 or $1000

maybe I should turn on my ac or something. playing bf 1 right now

i7 920 @ 3.66 Ghz OC'd

SSD
RX480 4GB from Sapphire

Get off my Lawn ya shits. This motherfucker is still kicking ass.

Sure I probably get a little bottlenecked and games like Wolfenstein are weird as fuck on my AMD, but for a first AMD card, this shit aint bad.

I know bad, I had a fucking used GTX 470, THE OG HOUSEFIRE.
Then a gtx 760 which i lost the silicon lottery and had to downclock to stop it from crashing in GTAV and Witcher 3.

This Rx480 runs cool as fuck, is damn near silent most of the time since the fans turn off, and was only 200 burgerbucks. Also, AMD drivers are shittier than Nvidia drivers in some areas, but not bad at all to be honest. They've been putting out fixes like every other week since they finally hired some programmers.

My only real problem is that Windows disconnects my monitor's device when the display is turned off, so I have to hear it turn on and off constantly. Anyone know how to disable display detection for DVI connections?

If there is a 1070 that get's under around then 400EU im replacing my R390 tomorrow

mah nigga
I have a 920 so about the same. But I have an rx480. I get like 90 - 120 fps in doom and overwatch. I got 55 fps in the Battlefield 1 Beta, not sure about full release.

I can max out Witcher 3 even with Hairworks (though with the tessellation turned down and usually won't go below 55 fps.

Those Jaguar cores in the consoles are still weaker that the shit in our Bloomfield Grampa machines.

it does bottleneck the CPU a bit but surprisingly doesn't seem to be much of an issue. planning on upgrading when the new chips come out.

i use the stock cooler and my rig is in a basement and it's cold as fuck in here. cpu temps hover around 10 and 22 at idle.

Just bought a EVGA PSU, a Supernova G2 750 W. My RMX750 Corsair has been sounding like a lawnmower when the fan starts to ramp up. Also, the over current protection on the RMX failed when a faulty mb shorted. I could actually see smoke rising from it. Corsair is shit, familia. Well, they make decent RAM sticks, but that's it.

i7 6700K
GTX 770 4gb

I want to get myself a 1070 but I think the benefits would be very insignificant to me with an exception of like a handful of games.

*an

fucking gtx1070 died on me after a driver update, currently waiting on RMA

700$ brick

i5 4670k at 4.5GHz and a 2GB 770.
Thinking of waiting to upgrade until I can get a 1070 for like 250.

t-thank you for inadvertently answering my question

bottlenecking isn't as much of a problem as you might think. You could run it on an old ass athlon X4 and you'd get maybe a 12% bottleneck.

The real issue are that a lot of games these days are Unity3d trash, which are heavily CPU dependant due to how the engine is generic and has to use an absurd amount of .Reflection to process shit. They're usually not even making good use of the cpu so you never get more than 45% cpu usage as well.

...

What settings do I use for Witcher 3 for it to stop hitching every few seconds?
It's really annoying and I'm playing on highs with hairworks off.

>i5 6500
>1060 6GB
>tfw perfectly mid-tier

Feels good man.

I think my 1070 is dying too.

PC shuts itself off instantly if I play intensive games, unless I limit the power draw to 50%.

It's not a heat problem either because my temp limit is 66°c, beyond it downclocks itself. to maintan it.

turn on vsync and tripple buffering

>1070
>$700
?!?!

canadians

Probably Canadian pricing.

>turn on vsync
That's done already.

>tripple buffering
I presume it has to be done with the use of some other software as there isn't such an option in-game?

That might actually be a BIOS or driver problem, especially if it's an EVGA card. They've been having problems with heat.

Its okay. Been thinking about getting rid of the r9 390 for something that doesn't take a nuclear reactor to power.

does the job. still waiting for next gen of monitors

>GTX 770
>i5 4690K

Looking for a 1060 6GB close to $200

great

you can enable it in your nvidia control panel for witcher 3. It basically smoothes out your framerate so hitching isn't noticeable. you could also increase the frames rendered earlier, but its possible that it's a harddrive or ram speed thing

Phenom II
GTX 760
It works

Overclock dat cpu.

Fixed my problem when I went from stock speeds to 4.6 on my 2500k.

I wouldn't get anything less than a 1070 if you're going to upgrade.

Ignore this dipshit.

A low tier CPU will result in fucking terrible frame pacing and wildly varying frame rates.

Hahahahaha thinking K/D matters in BF, go back to COD baby.

Would it be better to buy a 1070 to replace my R9 390 on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

I can't, my motherboard is utter shit as it's turned out.

Whenever I stress test even at slight overclocks (3.7) it shuts down after 20~ minutes, and that's with an additional fan I bought.

i5-4690k
16 gigs ram
Gigabyte 1060 6GB

Pretty much the generic 1080p and I have absolutely no complaints.

It's literally the devs. A 2GB 770 can run GTAV almost maxed out at 1440p with a steady 60fps.

The latest bethesda game with graphic mods like ENB.Just anything that runs ENB and mods in general tho bethesda games usually has tens of thousands of mods in it's disposal compared to anything else.

Getting 30-50 FPS at 1440p with ENB in fall out 4.

If you don't know what ENB is it's the shit that made GTA4 look photo realistic.
