Remember back when playing Diablo or Warcraft used to be seen as genuinely nerdy and was looked down on general? What changed? What turned Blizzard into the casual company they are now, with games like Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, WoW, Hearthstone, etc?
Why are Blizzard games the biggest normie-attracters for PC?
Because Blizzard markets that shit to hell and back.
This is how business works.
You have more casuals than [nerdy/hardcore/whatever you want to call them] players.
Video game prices are more or less set in stone (or at least what people accept to spend on video games in average). You cannot jack up prices like for niche hobbies (i.e.model buildings, dolls and so on which are expensive hobbies).
So what gives? The only way to make more money is... to attract more people. And how do you attract more people? With games that pleases the masses.
Because autistic virgin weeaboo Sup Forums nu-males who rely on neetbux are less than 1% of their consumer base.
That's why they must cater to normies to get that cash flow.
No, back then playing any game was considered nerdy. Diablo and Warcraft were very popular among gamers back then.
He's the meme I miss the most.
They make casual dumbed down shit games, plus they market the hell out of them with trailers and every gaming site reports about every Blizzard game, even if they just receive a minor update.
It all started with custom games. WC3 and SC were too hard, so everyone started playing Dota and Tower defense. What you see today is the aftermath
>shit games,
you can feel the butthurt
They got popular, made a fuck ton of money, and now can market like crazy and appeal to wider audiences? What a stupid question.
>They make casual dumbed down shit games
then why aren't you cruising to a e-sports paycheck as a top percentage player in any of them? Top of the D3 Seasonal ladder, champion card-flopper, korean-slayer in SC2, top arena man in WoW, carrying god in HOTS.... any ONE of them, which one did you destroy without effort. Which one?
The fuck kind of retard logic is this?
>the game is shit therefore I have to be insanely good at it
Seriously, it blows my fucking mind how stupid this is.
Fukken saved.
not shit, casual. Nice try deflecting, but if they were truly casual games with no substance, then you ought to be able to dominate in at least one of them.
Shit and casual are the same shit. Why the fuck would I want to be the best at Barney's Club House or Barbie's Beach Vacation? It isn't worth my time.
Oh yeah let's farm a million hours per season in Diablo 3 to kill the infinite enemies with infinite level scaling, that sure is worth my time.
That Tracer artwork is horrifying
>It isn't worth my time.
>thousands of dollars of donation money via streaming is a waste of my time, I'd rather only work a job
you're really stretching to win an argument with an anonymous casual shitter online in a taiwanese etch-a-sketch enthusiast bulletin board.
you can be a twitch streamer that isn't even top of the leaderboards in D3 and still rake in more than people with actual jobs
I'd rather work at fucking McDonalds than play Diablo 3 for a living. It would be more fun and engaging.
yeah I can put C&C: Generals on a fucking pedestal if I had enough money, it doesn't mean it's worthy of it.
D3 and SC2 fucking sucked compared to D2 and BW, you fucking pleb.
you can make shit eating competitive, but that doesn't mean anyone will take this seriously
this is outlandish hyperbole and you know it, I know it, people lurking in this thread knows it. Hundreds of thousands of people spectate D3 alone, millions play it, and it's the lowest traffic of current Blizzard games. Why is it so hard for you to accept that Blizzard games have a decades long shelf life, persistent communities, and a high skill cap with competitive modes that lead to fame and prosperity?
Maybe for a relevant game, but diablo 3?
maybe an actual job in the philippines.
too bad hundreds of thousands of people DO take it seriously, taking all of the wind out of your "Blizzard games sux" sails
Normies learned what WoW was from South Park and jumped on the bandwagon. Then just as it was dying Hearthstone was announced.
They make games that run on a lot of hardware and they have an expensive animation team for cutscenes.
You'd make more money from McDonald's.
The only way to make any money from Blizzard games is to be a streamer, which is up there with letting strangers finger your butthole for pocket change.
how much pocket change though? and will ANY of said strangers be women?
