GoW never felt very satisfying to me.

I fucking loved GOWIII. Used to think II was better because it had bigger and more varied environments but nah... I liked GOWIII more in the end because the combat was better (although that grab and run move was OP af) and it was way more focused on combat.

I beat GOWIII on Chaos Mode even. About three months ago I tried going back to it on PS3 and I fucking sucked and got my ass kicked. Started on Hard though and got beat like a bitch. Went down to Normal and still wasn't steamrolling, so just fuck it, I've already plat'd it, cba now lmao.

I hate what they did to God of War 4 btw. Was really looking forward to the new game, especially when I heard they got Cory back as director. Goddamn they fucked it up. I think Naughty Dog is the single biggest fucking cancer video games have ever had in terms of game design.

GoW2 will always be the superior, the atmosphere and sense of adventure of that game is unbeatable

2 > 1 > 3 > Chain of Olympus > Ghost of Sparta

i played GOW1 and GOW2 with no problems
no other game does that to me, just GOW3 and GOW absolution

GoWIII, while fun, has a painfully low skill ceiling, an experienced NG or DMC player will hit GoW's skill ceiling within single digit hours. GoW isn't bad, but it's very simple compared to it's peers, and far more forgiving.

Go ahead and search Truestyle Tournament on youtube, and try to replicate the results in DMC3 or DMC4 on your own. You'll find that you'll need dozens, perhaps more than a hundred, hours of practice to get close. It also requires a great deal of knowledge over the game mechanics.

GoW, by contrast, can be mastered in a weekend.

I find GoW to be fun but really entry level tier.

NG has a nice visceral feeling behind the attacks that GoW attempts to bring. NG is more flow of the fight against overwhelming odds of enemies. Enemies grabbing you is pretty bullshit though.

DMC attacks feel like I do nothing, but that doesn't matter because combos. I'm not a fan of the enemies sitting around though.

Actually its on hard where all you can do is spam square and dance around the enemies attacks. At least thats how it was in GoW2, I haven't played any of the other games on the hardest difficulty.

it's more of a beat em up. and even if you did consider it hack n slash no. you either haven't played dmc and ng, you're trolling, or you're a casual.

Who gives a shit? I dont want to put hundreds of hours into a game just to have ebin combos. The most I ever do is beat it on the hardest difficulty and even that is very rare.

I was just answering the OP question m8. Genre enthusiasts enjoy DMC because it offers a lot of depth and rewards time invested. GoW is less respected because it's relatively shallow. This doesn't make GoW bad or DMC the best, I'm just explaining the relationship.

I liked the story in GoW4.

It's fucking garbage. Very nearly every action game worth its salt binds dodge to either a shoulder button or a face button, so you can react quickly.
As compensation, every move in God of War that can't be blocked is telegraphed as fuck. It wouldn't even have been hard to just make the dodge command be left stick + block.
God of War only did that because you don't have camera control, so you're forced to look at the SO EBIN SETPIECES. They didn't have any reason to change it. Dad of War is only changing that because it's going to straight up take the camera away from you to lock onto the ebin background bullshit.

I agree. The levels were just a lot better than NG and DMC. Puzzles are involved, and they are sorta based on an actual mythology so they had a lot to work with.

Ninja Gaiden trilogy > Bayonetta 1+2 > DMC 1-4

No area in DMC or NG comes close to this

well the NES ones are cool and you can play those.
but really it's ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 and you can't play those on a PC.
but not owning a 360/PS3 is a poor life decision to begin with.
