Im thinking about buying Witcher 3 as it is on sale. Is it worth it? Whats it like. Please compare to skyrim because ive played a lot of that and these two look somewhat similar

Second game was better, just watch some lets plays and make up your mind

Play the original first. It's the best game in the series, and the only one to even try to teach you the basics of the series' lore and characters, as I just know you have NOT read the original Book series it is continuation to.

>please compare to Skyrim
dear god, why are there people like you on this planet?
It's miles better. That good for ya?
Combat is more hands-on than weightless waving of sticks.

fuck off. TW2 was terrible piece of shit, and the one game you can freely skip.

It's more like Zelda meets Dark Souls. Pretty meh, but at least better than the 2nd game. The original's Enhanced Edition is still the best Witcher game, with the most replay value and features.

there is no open world rpg that can best this game in both story AND gameplay.

It's worth it

But there is. Witcher 1.

good one.

This is the best answer here so far.

Is it worth playing? Sure. But it definitely would not have been worth paying full price for.

assuming you have a gaming capable PC made in the past 6 years, you can easily find the 3rd game for mere 20 bucks nowadays. And the original game for less than half of that.

Buy it right now user
It's completely with it and you'll love ever second of it

I was thinking of getting 3 but I didn't get into 2 for some reason. I don't know if it's something about the graphics or the gameplay.

witcher 1 gameplay is atrocious.

>W1
>open world
The fanboyism is strong in this one.
And tjis is coming from another W1 fanboy.

it's definitely not a linear pipe-runner like W2.

Nigger, it's the best.

>actual choices that change positions if certain NPCs or their position towards you changing how you can tackle quest
>signet rings to identify yourself
>bribing
>beating people up if everything else fails
>proper preparation (you don't like making pots/oils? play on normal or easy then, casual)
>actual combat styles that are more than just personal preferance
The only bad thing you could say is that the actual combat is a bit weird to get into, but user, you aren't one of those retards who thinks gameplay solely consists of combat, are you?

Holy shit, stop using words you don't understand.
W1 isn't open world in the slightest, nor is W2 a linear shitfest. The hubs in the sevond are small and few, but it's not some corridor shit.

It's boring as fuck

The whole world of TW2 felt, and often was, nothing but a linear pipe. Or do you consider anything in the intro chapter or chapter 2 to be "open ended"? Even the forest was a couple branching paths.
W1 feels like a Daggerfall compared to the sequel.

Sup Forums is so fucking gay now... "Skyrim" is a bad word and it triggers douche nerds.

If I thought the witcher was fun I wouldn't have deleted it. I know what 'hard' games that take 'skill' are, getting to diamond on multiplayer games, and the witcher's 'more challenging than skyrim' gameplay wasn't fun. Didn't feel worth playing.

I don't fucking care if it's beautiful, beauty is skin deep in video games too. If I cared that much about a beautiful game I'd look at screenshots of it instead of playing it, but those are two different fucking hobbies.

Who the fuck ever plays Witcher for "hard gameplay"? Don't go mixing up some DaS style elitist bullshit into this.
I personally loved Witcher. The original one I mean. It was not only an atmospheric and beautiful game (beauty can refer to much more than just graphics, btw), but truly engaging, smartly mature RPG ride, that didn't have to throw tits, excessive gore and curse words at you all the time to make a point. The gameplay was also enthralling, with later replays of mine showing how many things you can miss / not even get to experience on a single run.

Skyrim is nothing but a sad joke for a reason: it's so awfully dumped down and bland, that people only use it as a virtual dollhouse.

Again, you're exaggerating as fuck. Go play something like Final Fabtasy XIII, that is a linear pipefest.
And also, W2 being more linear than W1 still doesn't make the first one open world. So stop trying to move the goal post, faggot.

>Please compare to skyrim because ive played a lot of that and these two look somewhat similar
Skyrim sucks. TW3 doesn't. There you go.

Why are you going to play Witcher 3 without playing 1 and 2 first? Why do so many normies do this?

So you neither care about graphics nor about gameplay? You're trying to get in to the wrong hobby, here.

>Go play something like Final Fabtasy XIII, that is a linear pipefest.
I already did, but that's got nothing to do with Witcher games.
>And also, W2 being more linear than W1 still doesn't make the first one open world.
big hubs connecting big & open maps is more than enough of an "open world" in my books. Or do you also consider STALKER not open-world, because of its map design?

Xbox Cowadooteh generation's gotten too used to "series" with the next game usually having nothing to do with the past ones, besides the overall themes.
You can't imagine how many threads we've got about newfags trying to get into an old game / TV-series or films, considering starting with the latest title for the heck of it.
