This is cool.

>we'll get Event Horizon directed by Carpenter
Sign me the fuck up

Video game movies always turn out great. What could possibly go wrong?

THIS

EH was fun.

I miss the JC. Just rewatched Escape From New York last night.

>John Carpenter's Dead Space

Please god, let something good happen for once.

Guys I have a confession to make

I didn't like The Thing. The plot seemed repetitive and there were too many characters so I didn't care about anyone but Kurt Russell

John Carpenter making a Dead Space game is like Kojima making a Silent Hill game.

too good to ever happen

Please for the love of God before you die you basterd.

>implying the excecs arent just going to force him to trash all of the practical FX at the last second and replace it with CGI exclusivly

Kojima can't do it because he is physically incapable if being subtle. Carpenter is capable of making a horror movie

> I didn't care about anyone but Kurt Russell
You're really not supposed too beyond "any one of these fuckers could kill the protag".

>put it on easy

movie hack is a hack at video games

surprise surprise

Watch "The Thing From Outerspace" if you want better characters, it's another movie based on the same book "The Thing" is based on

Awesome. In The Mouth Of Madness is in my top 20 all time movies

Meh, I think Carpenter could pull it off. It'd have to be a long movie but if he pushes both the angles of "i'm just an engineer god help me i'msoscared" with a gradual shift towards the angry, spiteful Isaac of 2 (he gets his first curb stomp only near the end after first being established of shooting the crawlers) and the angle of "these voices in my ear could very well just be hallucinations" and he should be good. Consistent assaults to show off the different kinds of necros but the only the big horde with the brute or the Hunter being the final one to come out only happening right with putting the marker back and before the showdown with the Hive Mind.

Kojima had Del Totoro and Junji Ito working with him in Silent Hills.

"Until you get used to it." Fuck off.
What's really embarrassing is that the interviewer has a hard time with it. Dead Space isn't survival horror.

First Dead Space was great. I didn't play the others.

>In The Mouth Of Madness

I watched the hotel scenes and the "ancient ones rip into reality" scene as a kid and i was so fascinated by it. 15 years later, i finally found the name of the movie and watched it completely. The story was nowhere near as a good as i had imagined as a kid, but the movie is pretty good.

DS 2 is pretty good too, but 3 ruined everything for everyone.

>shitty QTE jump scare horror gets turned into a movie
Not sure i want this

We're talking about Dead Space, Resident Evil already has movies.

Its good just for the shock factor.
The time when one of the characters gets the defibrillator to try and revive another character always gets me.
The remake is also neat in that the ending completes the opening of the original.

No lolibabas!

>execs force him to add teenager drama

Without the real Ito, Silent Hills would end up being a ghostfest SH4 style but with jumpscares.

This is the real Ito, by the way.

You're not alone in having bad taste

>The Thing was critically panned
>Predator was critically panned
>Starship Troopers was critically panned

Film critics are the original hipsters.

Troopers is shit as a movie and shit as an adaptation

And your post is shit as an opinion.

The latter part of his opinion is correct though. The movie is entirely different from the book in every way.

That's because the movie is an in-universe propaganda film loosely based on the events of the book in order to recruit more soldiers.

>Would you like to know more?

So instead of painting the soldiers to be the most highly advanced, badass, sons of bitches that they are (in the book), strutting around in power armor and killing bugs by the thousands they paint the military as being inept and dying in droves? And this is propaganda?

>Game rips off one of his best movies
>Wants to make a movie of it

This is like Ridley Scott directing a metroid movie.

It paints the Navy and inept and incompetent, not the Army. The Army fucks shit up and nukes the bugs.

The Thing is based on the short story "Who Goes There?". The original The Thing is about plant Frankenstein.

2001 was also panned.

Critics are a product of what is around them, if it's something completely new they tend to shit on it only for the movie to later pick up steam once the masses start noticing elements that were new yet pretty damn good.

This isn't to say bad elements eventually become good, it's simply that new elements can be so abruptly against what was popular at the time that they just look bad.

For example, calling the Thing depressing is absurd since modern critics eat that shit up now in days to the point of annoyance (I.E french film fags), but in the eighties you'd see that criticism towards dark movies quite a bit.

I dunno. Carpenter has made some fantastic movies but he hasn't really made anything good for over 20 years.

The Thing From Outerspace is also based on Who Goes There, plant franky is just a strange change to the story they made for some reason. Maybe they thought people wouldn't like the body horror, considering The Thing's initial reception they weren't wrong

>rips off
You do realize that Dead Space is a mix of various horror movies and cliches right? The Necromorph's method of travel is reminiscent of the Aliens traveling and circumventing proper security procedures through vents, the dementia induced hallucinations and roiling mess of flesh for Event Horizon and especially the opening of Dead Space, and while the Necromorphs are different from the corpses they come from, they don't do nearly the same drastic level of changes to the human form that The Thing does. Especially since it can exist solely as a head, while those tall fuckers are the only ones that can survive as just a head, and even then each body part can function separately.

His last movie was six years ago user. Also Ghosts of Mars seemed dumb even on paper. What the fuck Carpenter?

Cool. It's always cool whenever you find out that some big celebrity actually plays video games or something like that.

I'd watch this movie.

>This is like Ridley Scott directing a metroid movie.
If this were old school Ridley, I'd be hyped as fuck for it. Modern Ridley Scott could go either way.

*from another world
Forgot it wasn't "outer space", my bad pham

Some people believe Charlize Theron's character in Prometheus was a reference to metroid.

>article made 3 years ago
>no others news of a ded spess movie outside of Carpenter saying "yeah making one would be cool"

You can see how well did that go senpai

Has any EA property had a proper video game movie adaption?

>9 MAY 2013

But Dead Space was already dead by then.

I never understood SHIT about the markers.

In Dead Space 1 it was apparently something used to contain, imprison, or suppress the Necromorphs. Removing that one from the planet caused the shitstorm to happen because it broke the containment.

Then in Dead Space 2 the marker is now actively malevolent and mindfucks people and causes suicidal behavior to make more corpses available and promote Necromorph spreading

I never bothered with Dead Space 3 so I don't know much. I've heard things went full fucking retard though.

She did resemble ZSS a whole lot.

Honestly if they ever made a Metroid movie right now, Theron wouldn't be a bad choice at all.

From what I know Markers suppress necros and the necro bacteria by emitting some kind of radiation and creates energy causing intelligent races to make more markers. However, said radiation also fucks up the sanity of those near it causing them to not only worship the damn things so they aren't destroyed but cause mass violence. At this point the marker just stops suppressing the necro bacteria causing all the newly made bodies to rise and start the mass murder and cause the cavalcade of death. At this point it gets fucked because of 3 but the end result, the entire point of the markers, is realized by now. The Marker(s) begin the convergence event when enough death happens. Surrounding the Hive Mind all the necromorphs and all other dead bodies fly up into the air right above the marker (by the dark gods' will who fucking knows) swirling around eventually gaining enough mass to become a Brethren Moon. This moon will finish feasting on the planet to gain sapience then begin its journey to find another living planet and continue the cycle.

Deadspace has gotten so stupid.

Now the Moon is going to attack earth? What's the story for 4 anyway?

Ever seen the movie Slither? Same concept.

Markers float around space and land on worlds. Intelligent species find the things and are mind fucked into worshipping them. In addition to making people worship them, they also produce energy meaning they become an essential resource. The things also mind fuck people into making lesser versions of them called red markers, which they spread around the planet.

All while this is happening, the things are releasing a virus that makes necromorphs.

When the necromorphs basically win the war, the original marker activates the lesser ones and all the necromorphs marge together to form a massive organic "moon" called a Brethern Moon. These creatures are sentient and fly around space eating worlds and the markers are their means of reproduction.

tbqh they could have done better but I guess the bio-mass hive mind creatures are unavoidable in sci-fi videogames name.
