In my town the xbox has always been the popular console here, almost everyone I know has an xbone with only a few buying the ps4. People buy what their friends have.
Halo and Gears, really. Not to mention it's outselling the PS4 in the States, so more people are going to buy it to play multiplats with their friends.

I have both and it very objectively is not. It's not even close, the PS4 destroys it in every possible way. Better exclusives, better hardware, better online, better UI, better controller, better graphics and performance.

It's not outselling the PS4. The Xbone is still like 30 million units behind at least. Selling more units overall for the past month or so is not the same thing. It's still barely more successful than the Wii U and the U.S. is the only country it sells in.

PS3 controller was well over 30 hours per charge even years after purchase.
PS4 controller is 5-6 hours max all because of a stupid fucking LED you can't turn off. Those fucking rubber sticks that ripped off after a month of use were real fucking neat too. I have 6 PS3 controllers and the only one that has broken was my very original sixaxis, where the springs in the shoulder buttons gave out. All the rest have worked great since 2007
I know a lot of my friends just bought one because they all played 360. I don't really see a need for one because I already have a good PC. At least the PS4 has some games you can't play on other systems.

consoles are idiot-proof. theyre not "convenient" as they used to be but any moron can wait for it to play a game. you need to know nothing before hopping into it. compare that to pc gaming (aka steam gaming, be honest). lots of "normies" do not know what pc gaming is. they might think facebook, or wow. actually, as much as it may make you cringe, LoL gave the identity of pc gaming a huge boost in the eyes of the public.

theyre inconvenient to most consumers. a remote control (see: controller) is fine for them. using a mouse and keyboard, even to just set it up or turn it on, is annoying. and every time you fuckers say "just hook up your gaming pc to your living room TV / use a ridiculous hdmi cable!" it makes even me cringe. stop it. and though we already covered how they dont know what it is, lets say they make it past that step. "all you need to do is know what these parts do, then know which ones are better than others, then know where and how much you should buy them for, then know how to put them together (theres tutorials for that if youre too stupid to put legos together LOL). if you run into porblems after youre done....google it i guess. this price-to-performance ratio build from pcpartpicker is perfect! its less than 1000$!"
people don't care that much about fucking video games. and of the few who do, many would prefer to focus on playing them, or the story i guess.
most of all, marketing. if you watch TV, or walk into a store, or go to the movies, or don't use adblock, etc. you know what a console is and what it has to offer. its owned by companies that have humongous reach. i would never play something like battlefield 1 on a console....but the pc has the smallest playerbase just because of how widespread consoles are.
call them casual if you like, but they werent fooled into thinking a console is better than a giant pc, they just dont know or care.

Actually if you have a 4k TV it's going to do the upscaling anyway, so there isn't much difference.
so having said that, people who only see xbox and playstation may like the controller better. they may like halo better. it may have been on sale. they may have already had xbox live and a 360. maybe their friends had an xbox one.

the pro is usually rendering at somewhere around 1440p and uses checkerboarding with a 4K framebuffer to bring it up to 4K.
You can tell the difference between it and native 4K, mostly in the artifacting that happens on edges, but it still looks significantly better than a game rendered at 1080p blown up to 4K
And both will work as UHD bluray players. More than any model ps4 can say.
