As a PC player, I have to say that the PS4 is the best console this genereation. Now then I see no reason to buy a PS4 Pro if I don't own a PS4(like everyone keeps saying "buy a pro not a slim". Hear me out first.

Buying a pro wouldn't make any sense, mainly because multiplat games perform like shit on any console, compared to PC, meanwhile, PS4 exclusives have amazing performance, great optimization, and manage to keep framerate high, while maintaining visual fidelity.

But that already happens on the base PS4. While the Pro just offers bad 4K(it's up-scaled, accept it and move on), questionable performance, and complicates the simplicity of a console.

>buying a ps4 of any model if you have a high end PC

Explain this to me

This.
I'm a PS3 + PC idort, and so far there's been zero reason to purchase ANY of he current-gen consoles.

The exclusives are actually worth playing, that's if you're interested in most of them.

That's why I said the slim is the better option, it'l just be a side console for whenever a good exclusive comes out. The rest of the time I'd just use my PC

>The exclusives are actually worth playing
Every single ONE (1) of it?

What exclusives, besides Bloodborn and the remastered version of ps3 games?

I am on the fence myself about whether to get a used fat ps3 or a ps4 but the lack of a decent library for the PS4 and no backwards compatibility really sink the ps4's appeal

No, some are great, some aren't. But there's enough good ones to consider a buy

I've actually had a fat PS3 for a few years now. Jailbroken it and played most of it's best games. If you're on the fence I highly recommend the fat PS3. That is if you don't plan to play online.

>That is if you don't plan to play online.
Are they shutting down servers for a ton of games? I wouldn't jailbreak it, just use it to play blurays and all the exclusives that I missed out on

it cant even run hitman 2015 at 60fps and nowhere near pc ultra and VR looks fuckaweful

I agree.

What is the point of this thread?
Where's the discussion?

Not shutting down, more like a ton of games just stopped getting support and are mostly hacked full of hackers (CODs, Battlefield, even Uncharted) The only ones that remain untouched are pretty unknown games, like DC Universe Online and such.

And there's a ton of "collections" for most of the games on the console too, so you can get a lot of those for cheap at a gamestop.

I know, that's my point.

Not sure, I though I was gonna have a ton of people arguing with me, guess I was wrong

So Demon's Souls pvp is unplayable? What about Journey?

No idea there.

is it true certain games play worse on the pro?

Well this is rare. I once more or less agree with a PC user on pretty much everything. There are advantages the Pro offers but not enough to justify the $100.

We all knew Pro was going to be shit. Sony was just looking for another PS4 cash grab by making nothing with it. They seem to forget the only reason why PS4 is ahead to begin with is because Nintendo is retarded and Xbone made a real shitty start.

so i should buy a slim if i dont have a ps4 already?

Yes. If its cheaper. If theres an Original PS4 then just get that one. Mine is holding up perfectly after 4 years.

Some have some weird frame drops and graphic glitches, but that's just the game itself. But overall the real issue's that the Pro just isn't doing anything worthwhile that the base PS4 can't.

Exactly my point. There's nothing in it worth extra money.

im still looking around for deals but i was hoping to get one sometime for christmas or boxing day. right now all i have is xbox 360 and the game that im really excited for is injustice 2 which is due next year. i know its multi plat but all my friends have consoles so we an all play together. other games im interested in are uncharted 4, ratchet and clank, bloodborne, god of war 3 remastered and spiderman. there are more but these are the main ones straight off the top of my head.

the way you worded it in the OP makes sense now that i think about it and i wasnt really which sure which model i should get.

I consider those to be enough exclusives to justify buying it desu. Just make sure you get a nice deal. Anything under $300's good, since it's probably gonna be bundled. Below $250, even better.

Realistically the only people that really are hating on the pro are too broke to buy it.

That actually makes sense. They could always buy a Slim though

If your going to get a PS4, might as well get the Pro. It's not that much more, yeah people will point their fingers at all the digital foundry videos but remember that the console just came out, give the devs some time to work around the new hardware.

I bought a Wii-U just to play smash with my friends. Sometimes it takes just one exclusive to justify getting a system.

Plus if you're an adult with a real job, it's not that expensive if gaming is a hobby you care about.

Bloodborne, Disgaea 5, The Last Guardian, FFXV, Persona 5. Not much, but it's something.

>everyone keeps saying "buy a pro not a slim"
Not everyone. The Slim is smaller, draws less power and is 100 % compatible with the OG PS4.
>Buying a pro wouldn't make any sense, mainly because multiplat games perform like shit on any console, compared to PC
If your PC is a few years old, any PS4 outperforms it, because it's not gimped by Windows, Denuvo and Gameworks.
It's simply a cheaper x86-64 box with less bloatware.
I got PS4 Slim this year, because it was cheaper than any sensible PC upgrade options for a 7th-gen-tier (2011ish) PC.
I keep the PC around to run anything from the PC past without running into Botnet10 backward compatibility problems.

That's not what idort means, user.

It still runs better than OG PS4 though in that video, with another patch they could fix the framerate.

It is how it has evolved to work in the past decade, sonny Jim. If nothing else, I'm a PC+console idort.

>Amazon giving Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition with the PS4

Not bad, worth picking up now if you're interested. It's a flash deal so pick it up fast.

>If your PC is a few years old, any PS4 outperforms it, because it's not gimped by Windows, Denuvo and Gameworks.
That is incorrect. My ~4 years old PC outperforms PS4 in every single game on console settings, unless it's really shit port like Dishonored 2, which is exceptional.
Recently I bought Hitman, which apparently wasn't greatly optimized on PC, but nonetheless, my HD7950 manages to run 60 with drops to 50s on console settings, while on PS4 it rarely reaches 40 on unlocked framerate.

>HD7950
A noisy 260 W space heater monstrosity runs games with "console settings" in 2016. Wasting money on that made no sense in 2012 already.
It's just on par with baseline PS4 and outperformed by PS4 Pro.
>unless it's really shit port like Dishonored 2, which is exceptional.
Shit ports became the norm.

>HD7950
>thinking it's "merely on par" with consoles
Lol nope! A mere HD 7850 2GB would beat PS4's specs, alone. That's how little you need to get your "console tier" experience nowadays, with the benefits of configurable options + mods.

Along with HD7970 it was the most future proof card of the time without spending shitloads. Currently it even outperforms GTX680, which was the toppest single GPU card. And as I said, original PS4 can't get close it.

>Shit ports became the norm.
Even shitty port of Mankind Divided runs better on it than PS4.

>runs game double the console target framerate
>"they're on par lol"

This. And let's not forget those rad GRAPHIX!

>future proof
You were just lucky, that AMD still has nothing better than GCN.

If you already own a pc why even bother?

apples and oranges dude.

TFLOPS is meaningless here.

I got the ps4 pro for the ps vr advantages. It really does make a huge difference; Games like rigs were fucking with my equilibrium, after i got the pro that stopped and i can play it for hours. Graphics are much smoother and detailed as well on games like eve valkyry. Plus 1tb hd and faster processor and graphics card......for the extra $100 its a no brainer.

But first party developers will probably be forced to make good use of the pro's specs. So for (first party) exclusives, you are guaranteed to get a better experience.

ALL of the ps4 launch titles like driveclub, U4 and Infamous 2nd sjw where meant to run at 60fps

the media was hyping up 1080p 60fps and when the games finally come out they are either unlocked fps like 2nd son and barely hit 20-40fps or just got capped to 30fps like U4 and Driveclub

Now the PS4 Pro comes along and cant even run games at 1080p 60fps and they opt for 1440-2160p meme resolution scaling and stupid shit because the cpu is too weak to hit 60fps even with a massive overclock, a new chipset and faster/more ram and a new gpu

Yeah there's absolutely no reason to buy a console if your PC is high tier, especially when every console game is costly.

Don't forget that we've yet to even see a game with full, native 1080p / 60fps.

With shit like dynamic rendering resolution and that new "checkerboard rendering", the image quality is way below 1080p in most games, most of the time.

>tfw have money for a ps4 pro
>tfw no room to put it
>tfw can't even fucking care because i'd have 3 games tops for it

PS4 is like PS3, overrated as fuck.

>ps3
>overrated

lol
