What is it with some western game controllers/devices and being designed to be so massive? What was the thought behind the design of things like the Atari Lynx or the Xbox Duke controller for example?
What is it with some western game controllers/devices and being designed to be so massive...
Sure user I have the answer for you. Let me just look through these design documents I keep here detailing the entire process that Microsoft's team went through behind closed doors in their secret design labs.
oh, thanks user, that would be most enlightening
>What is it with some western game controllers/devices and being designed to be so massive?
Probably because they fit the average human hand with the least effort
I don't know though it sounds like you prefer smaller controllers
Isn't that right
Fag
The Duke is easily one of the worst controllers ever designed. The S fixed the problem.
actually I like the duke now that I'm an adult, but as a kid I couldn't hold the damn thing. Makes me wonder why they thought it would fly when they were putting shit like Blinx on the system.
I disagree, the duke is mostly wasted space but the S has an inferior button layout, especially in the ABXY and black/white/start/back positioning. Personally I wish they had just taken the Duke and shrunk it, rather than fucking everything up like they did with the S.
The Duke has better placement of the black and white buttons but the button shapes are so odd and displeasing to press.
Also wtf is with the d pad
Apparently it's because of nepotism.
The circuit boards were done by a "friendly" company but they weren't a very good company so they wound up being quite large. The controllers had to be large to accommodate them.
Let's talk about something more important
why hasn't Microsoft put six face buttons on their controllers since the duke?
I disagree, the cluster puts them all together, allowing you to comfortably press 2+ buttons at once as needed, instead of the S layout, which copies (in my opinion) the biggest flaw of SNES-style pads in doing a perfect cross, on which it is very hard to press more than 2 buttons at a time.
The original xbox controller was based on the dreamcast controller.
the duke is literally the best controller ever made
for anyone that doesn't have sissy hands it didn't give you cramps
and the weight was just right
wish i could get a wireless pc version honestly
The duke is comfy as fuck, fucking Asians with their baby hands
How often do you need to press more than two buttons at a time with your thumb?
S > Duke
There are no arguments. It is simply fact.
>having baby hands
>Take dinner plate and put buttons and stick on it
>"Lol you don't like it because you have baby hands"
You could stick buttons to an ergonomic dinner plate and it would have the same effect. It doesn't have to be a bad controller just because it's big, user.
>MUH WESTERN CONTROLLERS
At least they make them practical.
Nintendo 64 would like to have a word with you.
Firty western hands too big, not like nihonjin.
