Australians give Zelda Breath of The Wild M rating

nintendo-insider.com/2016/11/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-rated-by-australian-classification-board/

Dab On Em

Rated M for Manbabies only.

>For comparison’s sake, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD were all awarded the same Mature rating.
Fucking why?

its not gonna have sex bro

I can understand Skyward Sword, I mean Ghirahim is a borderline rapist.

Because Australia.

Rating system is different I guess.

>age 14+
It's like being rated T for teens.

this fucking thread again

the ACB M rating isn't like the ESRB M rating, it's closer in equivalence to a Teen rating

still seems kinda strict, Zelda has always seemed like a PG series to me then again I haven't played any of the newer entries

A rating of M is equivalent to PG-13. It means fucking nothing.

except Hyrule Warriors what the fuck is wrong with me

>me sub-mature, getting pile drived at game store trying to buy zelda after watching pg 13 ghost in the shell movie

M in Australia is between E10+ and Teen.
The Australian equivalent of an American M is R18+.

Well you kill things and set them on fire so that's something. I personally would just make it 8 and up or make it pg.

It's a great game. I hope they announce the sequel in January.

Zelda must be an a cup in it.

Also, R18 means literally nothing. We still get censored games out the ass, especially if there's, god forbid, a reference to drugs.

They might as well just be honest and call it the Mortal Kombat rating.

>We still get censored games out the ass
not that many in the grand scheme of things, could be much worse

>The Australian equivalent of an American M is R18+.

Not really, MA is closer to an American M than R.

It's just some shit that Australia thinks is worthy of an R rating American doesn't think is worthy of an AO rating, the actual equivalent to the Australian R. It's worth noting that might have something do with the fact that no console manufacturer allows AO rated games on their platform, they don't give a shit about the Australian R.

>they don't give a shit about the Australian R.
probably because most of the shit that would get AO would be refused classification here anyway

>link says its 15+
>no biggie, its 14+!
>oh thats just like pg-13
>...between E10 and R18
How low can we get?

I'm just overwhelmed with how much fucking shit there is to do in this game
there's a bajillion characters and a bajillion weapons and I haven't even finished Legend Mode yet, and apparently there are like 2 other fully featured gamemodes with shit you can only get there

holy fuck it's so much to take in, are all DW games like this?

Stick of truth and saints row 4 are unbanned. There are still like 19 banned games in australia and some for stupid as fuck reasons. One game was originally allowed but some high up cop got it banned for the "glorification of graffti" and varkari drive was banned because it had lesbians kissing or some shit.

>link says its 15+
sure, but no one takes that seriously

persons of any age can buy an M rated game in a store, the labeling on cases only state "recommended for mature audiences" with no specific age recommendation, and it's straight nonsensical to put a 15+ on the M rating when you compare it to how much stronger MA15+ content tends to be

>Stick of truth and saints row 4 are unbanned
after being resubmitted in a censored form

Valkyrie Drive was banned for "Sexual Violence"

I think it's more to do with the fact that America sees ratings like NC-17 and AO as commercial cancer. In Australia an R rating is not seen as that big a deal. Technically it's a restriction but most of the population still think of it as a recommendation, plenty of parents will happily get R rated shit for their kids.

Seriously they got censored? Fuck dude, we need an anti censorship political party or something. Maybe pauline hates censorship? That would help.

You can technically get anything with an M rating at any age. Age restrictions only start at MA15+

>Fuck dude, we need an anti censorship political party or something.

We already have one, The Australian Sex Party.

>Maybe pauline hates censorship?

She's gonna make our Internet great for the first time

Understandable considering Americans don't mature until the age of 18.

Take one look at Pauline Hanson. Does she really strike you as the type to enjoy video games, let alone violent ones?

Or you could just not censor games like a normal country

I can understand MM and TP but SS? Is it because of the fat moblins' massive nipple piercings?

>Australia
Ahahahaha.

That one is just for the pornography industry though isn't it?

Do they care about censorship anywhere else?

Majora's Mask is PG

No but she's pretty great and might just hate censorship in general.

The dev for that is based as fuck and said it's A-okay by him for everyone in australia to torrent it. Great game too, other than being shot offscreen.

there was a fair amount of activism to get the R18 rating, which helped but didn't get the root of the problem. I think the reason why there's been no real push against game censorship is because it's much easier to push for a new rating than for a major change to classification policy.

It's one thing to argue to the kind of people that believe censorship is necessary for material that is "beyond the pale" that adults should have the right to play adults-only games, and another thing to argue for softening of guidelines about sexual violence.

>The dev for that is based as fuck and said it's A-okay by him for everyone in australia to torrent it.
He seems to be a really cool guy in general, even if he looks like a massive faggot and tumblrina

pauline hanson is pro weed and pro euthanasia, shes pretty progressive, highly doubt she gives a single fuck about violent games.

HIGH IMPACT SEXUAL VIOLENCE

The quote on MM 3D being rated Mature was taken from OP's article. Here's what the Australian Classification show from their own website.

looking at the Majora's Mask M rating entry not only is it for the N64 original on Virtual Console (I'm assuming, because no "3D"), it lists the applicant as "IARC", which is this system for games to get rated through a questionnaire about the content, which is a good idea to speed up the classification process especially for indies but bad in that it leads to inconsistent shit like this, coupled with the fact that the IARC system also has the power to ban a game if the questionnaire determines it would fall foul of Australian rating guidelines
