Also is the PS3/4 wireless headset any good? It's either that or a cheap DAC, ideally I need something that works with a PS3 too, so no purely USB DACs.
I bought the slim and I'm more than happy with it. I like to be on the safe side and prefer to buy the slim versions of consoles. Buying the Pro was too risky for me.
I'm tempted by the Pro, but I'm really not sure if the investment is worth it for the 3 or so games I'll play on it.

Keep in mind that very first model (not Ultimate Player Edition) can be fucking loud comparing to other models.
I got the original and theres really no sense in upgrading imo but if I would be getting one now Id probably get the slim because its more quiet than the regular version.

I don't think Pro will be worth. Performance is negligible, comparing to original, even worse in some cases and it's not even proper 4K machine.
I'd rather wait for PS5 for 4k. Either way it'll be backwards compatible with PS4 or will have shitloads of remasters like PS4 has, except with proper 4K.

I played in on Xbox at a friends, and have it for PC. I understand the PS4 version is pretty much the same as the Xbox one.
Looks fine, med/high settings at 26-30fps. It's a third person action game, so that fine performance for a console.
Load times are fucking shit though. Like 30-40 seconds if you die or zone transfer.

Multiplat loading times are absolutely atrocious on consoles, especially if they have no option to install the game in whole on the HDD. Xbox 360 got that right last gen.

The Slim is made in the same 16nm process as the Pro, so it draws 40 % less power than the OG PS4.
Unlike the OG PS4 the Slim has 5 GHz Wi-Fi and is missing the SPDIF output.

Since Pro is a mid-gen switch, I'd say 3-4 years. Only last gen took so long, because hardware was so expensive that new PS3 still cost quite a lot for such old hardware.

The fuck? Every game is fully installed to HDD this gen. The only difference between a disk and downloaded copy is that the "Rights" for the game are tied to the disk instead of your account, so you have to put that in to play it. Also means you can sell those disk based rights though, or rent them through gamefly.

There's plenty of good and cheap CPUs. The reason the didn't upgrade CPU very much in Pro is because they're aiming at 100% compability with original PS4 and it's still supposed to be PS4. That's why there was no reason to upgrade it.
Better GPU only gives a bump in resolution, framerate or graphical fidelity, while to use more CPU power, game would have to have some kind of exclusive features on Pro.

Get the pro. It's only a 100 bucks more and gives you much better IQ. Even if you have a 1080p TV in pretty much all games going forward it will eliminate shimmering and aliasing for the most part.
I'm going to pivk up a pro or upgrade my PC when my income taxes come in. Right now I'm leaning more towards upgrading my PC. The only games I want to pick up for the ps4 are too few to justify spending 400 dollars.

Hence my interest in buying a PS4.
I mean my PC isn't even that bad. It just randomly shuts down sometimes because the PSU and ive been too cheap to buy a new one. Sent it to seagate once and they just sent me back the same one, still broken. I figured I'll just upgrade my GPU and PSU in one swoop, or just get a PS4 Pro. My only issue is that I have a PS3 sitting in my dresser with 20+ games that I've bought. I haven't touched that thing in years because the low resolution and blurry artifacts in PS3 games give me a huge headache after an hour of use. I'm afraid that will happen with the PS4 too, and I don't know the Pro would solve that issue for me.

I'll try corsair or EVGA. I'm using a seasonic PSU and it's been failing me for a while now. The customer service is also really terrible. I filed an RMA and sent it in for 20 dollars shipping, waited a 4 weeks, got it back without any idea any written note or communication. I matched the serial number from the box to the PSU, and it was the same one; Still broken.

Ordered the ps4 pro from overstock.com and paid the remaining balance of 40 bucks. Also free shipping and no tax from them. I've ordered from overstock.com many times in the past with no issues so I trust them enough. Also they are with the google trusted stores program so if anything happens, google has my back.
