So I was recently approved for a gamestop credit card with a limit of $500. I'm waiting to see what their black friday deals are, but PS4 Pro vs. Xbox One S? Also, any game recommendations, but obviously the console + games and accessories have to stay within the $500.

You know you're supposed to pay for what you buy with credit cards right?

Six months interest free financing bro. I can start playing now and then pay it off when I get my signing bonus after graduation.

>ever buying on credit

Isn't credit only for poor people who hates money?
Have fun with interests up to 20%.

>gamestop credit card

>americans in charge of managing their finances

>buying games with your gamestop credit card
HAHAHA YOU FUCKING CASUAL!
>not buying a house with it, overmaxing your creditcard and using the 200,000+ points you earned to get like 20 free games
fucking retard, delete your life

Actually, if you want to have a good credit rating, you shouldn't be maxing out your CC. It looks really bad to sign up for a new CC and max it out. The most you should spend on it is 500/3 = $166.67.

There is nothing wrong with using a CC to pay for stuff as long as you fully pay them off. Only making the minimum payment is how you get fucked in the ass. One, it won't have a positive effect on your credit score. Two, you are going to get hit with interest rates.

gamestop credit card is fucked, loser
get a best buy visa card instead, for the holiday season we're doing 0% interest financing for 18 months ;-)

It only makes sense bro. At least, if you buy shit you can afford and pay the statement in full each month to avoid paying interest. Examples of how awesome the benefits on my no annual fee credit card are:

>buy Galaxy Nexus, microUSB port fails just outside the one year warranty
>file Amex extended warranty claim (free on purchases made on the card)
>fully refunded to buy a new phone

>buy Xbone
>brother spills beer on the controller
>call amex, ask for $65 for a new controller under the free 90 day accidental damage coverage
>Amex refunds the $430 for the console instead

>buy $200 dashcam
>test drive with it up for five minutes
>bring microSD card in house to review footage; drop it and step on microSD. it breaks
>ask for $20 under accidental damage coverage for new microsd
>they just give me the $200 back instead

>Buy Asus router, it fails just short of three years (two year manufacturer warranty)
>call amex, since year three is covered under the Extended warranty benefit
>$150 refund

>tfw got credit card in college
>Only use it for gas for shitty car in school
>Graduated with 800+ credit score
>tfw able to buy new car with 0% interest for 72 months so only paying $210 a month

t. smelly NEET who has zero credit history

>mfw we had a bait thread like this the other day

>500$ limit

nigga you cant do shit with that! unless you have a low credit score or are new to credit cards.

But I work and save up my money.

You smelly NEET.

>try to get a credit card for your reason
>nobody wants to give me one because i dont have a credit history

>shitty car for school
Not like you would have needed a good car for school. You need something to get you from point A to point B. I'd be too nervous with a new car on a college campus.

Once you turn 21, you go to the bank where you have a checking account and apply for a student card there. They have the "right to offset", e.g. take money out of your checking account if you're a dumbfuck who doesn't pay his credit card bill, and they know how much money is going into/out of your account on a regular basis.

Then why not get a credit card? They're great for buying things you may not have the money for but will in a week or two

Good credit rating can only improve your life. Stop being a manchild and being terrified of a credit card.

im 22 and a milcuck with usaa, my only option is a secured card that i have to pay $500 for

>OP shills Gamestops jew card yet again

These same threads have been made in the past week or so, i'm not even kidding here.

Because I don't need one? I have all the money I could ever need to buy anything I could ever want.

not that other guy but i thought that too until i realized i couldnt live in my parents house my entire life and needed a credit history to get loans

i have an amazon credit card and its the only credit card ill ever have, amazon funny money is well worth it

>physical media

I have the Playstation card. I get 10x points on PSN purchases. I'm 100% digital on my ps4.

It's really nice having money.

Saving money is good instead of pissing it away but it wouldn't kill you to have one CC. As long as you fully pay them off and don't go near the credit limit, they aren't much trouble.

Not sure how that works. When I wanted a CC with no prior history, I got one.
With no issue.

>but i want it now now now! :(

this is how you sound
if you don't have the money, don't buy it

You must live at home

I don't need a credit history to get a loan. I could get one right now to buy a house, no problems.

Then again, I could actually buy a moderate house straight up instead.

>Get paid in a week
>Want something today
>Buy it today and pay it off in a week

or

>Wait a week for no reason

Damn thats a hard choice

Based retard

>They're great for buying things you may not have the money for but will in a week or two
So you buy it in a fucking week or two, are you retarded?

Are americans really this fucking stupid? They really need to ruin their life and put themselves in debt just to buy some stupid shit RIGHT NOW instead of when they can actually afford it?

>having a credit card with a $500 limit
>Not having cards with $10,000 limits

You should get good at credit, the real man's game.

I'm single, I'm working and I don't go out to party every week.

It doesn't take much to save up some real capital.

do you work or live off a trust fund

>he's spending thanksgiving day pretending on the internet

Can't tell whether you're the same waste of sperm that made this thread a few days ago or if this is a new bait thread.

Fuck off, you made this thread like two days ago.

>has his life so badly managed that he has to have the new shiny toy everyone has or will get upset

No deals on the Pro, but all S Models are getting a $50 price cut as well as normal PS4s (also include your choice of Ratchet and Clank or The Last of Us).

Source: GameCuck Employee

I live in a civilized country that doesn't celebrate the genocide of native americans, though :^)

Enjoy your freedom, though.

Good luck if you ever need to take out a loan for something. Really user, a CC is not a big deal as long as you fully pay off whatever you purchase on it.

>having a not-Visa or not-MC credit card at all

Bankfag here. Get rid of that useless shit and get a normalfag Platinum or something.

Storebrand only cards have high as fuck interest rates.

See I understand you're terrified of credit for some ungodly reason but its really just another part of being an adult.

>Being proud of how much debt you can potentially get yourself into

whyd you imply im a clapistan instead of answering the question

im pretty sure you live at your parents house off a trust fund now

No one here buys on credit.
Anyone with a stable job can get a loan.

I really don't see the problem.

They have 'store' cards. Milstar offers one. They're easier to get and do show up on a credit report, earning you history. You'll only be able to use them at the specific store, but after about 6 months or so you should have enough history to warrant getting a real credit card you can use anywhere else.

t. someone who works at a bank and approves people for credit cards.

As long as you pay in full before the exact amount is due then there are no problems.

GET RID OF THAT CREDIT CARD WHILE YOU STILL CAN OP

Dude, study hard now, and then treat yourself to the console when you have the money yourself.

How does this work.

Back before I was even old enough to get my neggyhole pozzed up legally I was getting like 2 credit card offers a day.

I got my first card at 15 because I had to pay for my wow subscription.

You'll be happy to know I only paid for 2 months what a shit game.

my credit card has a 20% rate but ive never triggered it since im not a dumbass and the rewards are dank

I don't even know what a trust fund is.

Why are euros so terrified of credit cards?

Did the Marshall plan really cuck you fags that hard?

Secured cards typically unsecure in a year. You don't "spend" the $500, you deposit it until you close the account or your account "graduates" to unsecured.

how much is watch dogs 2 (ps4) trade in?

its usually a lot of money left to you by parents/relatives that you get access to periodically like a pay check

>Save up money to buy the things you like
>Dont have to worry about debt
>Tell banks and credit card companies to fuck off

$500 doesn't sound out of the question for a new CC.

My parents haven't gotten me shit. My mother is a god damn nurse.

do you even have a job?

A) Great recession and credit card companies/banks taking a huge bath on balances
B) Credit Card Act of 2009 made it illegal to give credit cards to people under 21 unless they have additional proof of ability to repay.

After 2008 they made the rules for banks to issue credit cards much, much more strict. Now they have to be sure you're 18 to get a credit card and aren't allowed to give one to under 18 year olds whatsoever.

Most people get credit history in the u.s. via student loans which show up on a credit report. Or mommy and daddy put you on as an authorized user of their cards which also shows up. Or you get a car that you co-sign for. Or you get a secured credit card, or a store card like I mentioned before in the thread.

If you have almost no history like it sounds like OP is, yeah it's not so bad. Once you have decent credit your credit cards you apply for are likely to be close to whatever your highest limits are. Long as your debt is low and you've never been late.

Let me tell you now, be prepared to still make monthly payments. Even when it's one of those "two years no payments" you'll still need to pay monthly, or you'll take a hit to your rating.

so what do you do for a living that you can shell out cash for a house? im an insurance claims adjuster and live pretty nicely but i cant even do that

Whats the best mastercard to get? I have a visa right now through my bank

I've noticed that. I wonder why store brand cards make you bend over forward with interest rates like that.

I see.

To be honest I dont see the purpose of a CC if you are not buying your shit in 12 payments. If you buy in revolvent mode (a single payment) that means you already have the money to begin with.

I still recommend you to get at least a Visa one, that way you can buy shot internationally. Play Asia often has pretty swedt deals.

>It only makes sense bro

the way you put in, in context you're just stealing

hahahah

Moscow please

I'm a programmer and I live on the "countryside" so housing is relatively cheap.

If you have good credit and pay stuff off before you pay any interest you can actually get a fair amount of free money off the rewards.

>American Express authorized users
That was the best lifehack EVER. A large part of your credit score, particularly at the start of it, is the average age of your accounts. Let's say your parents have had an Amex since 1985. You're an authorized user, it shows as a line opened in 1985, or a line older than 30 years (older than many people here).

But THEN when you opened another Amex (up until mid-way last year), it would report to the bureaus as being opened at whatever year your first account was. Boom, second line that counts as thirty years.

Sadly Amex AU "member since" backdating is a loophole that has been closed.

ITT: idiots and non-americans don't understand the concept of establishing a good credit score

>needing credit to buy video games
Looks like you're the NEET

Minimum payments are usually $25 a month, but I usually throw $200 per paycheck at it and use it for excessive shit I dont really need, and gas

Mastercard and Visa are just the company that makes the transaction with the merchant/business you're buying shit with work.

You need to pay more attention to the bank which is actually financing the credit card. Like Bank of America, Chase, Citi. That's where the offers themselves come from. Mastercard or Visa doesn't mean shit except if a merchant doesn't accept a particular card, such as American Express because sometimes their intercharge fees (what the bank charges the merchant for swiping the card) are too high.

Fuck you, use the website.

Citi Double Cash is a pretty good deal IMO. 2% cashback on everything, plus Citi Rewind (price protection on shit you buy, you register the important shit like Electronics and then they watch the price, if it goes on sale within 90 days then they give you the difference between what you paid and teh sale price back).

Depends where you live. Here in Peru Visa is by far more mainstream than MC.

If you got the cash theres no wrong going with a Black Card. Gives you lots of credit. I dont remember if the black card also gives you a Priority Pass, the Visa Signature does. The only issue a black card has is the membership cost, but its once a year so no big deal.

I dont know much about your burgerbanks but Ive heard Citybank is good. So you can get one from there. The bank itself doesnt really matters.

>builds credit rating, which has credit implications (e.g. auto loan rates) and non-credit implications (renting, auto insurance premium pricing in most states).
>gets you free cashback, 2-5% on everything I buy
>has benefits on top of that (see )

Using benefits on legitimate accidental damage and failures outside of the manufacturer's warranty (But within included credit card company extended warranty protection) is not theft, user.

>TFW credit was solid until after college

Glad I fell for that meme. Debt for another four years, another six before all the shit ratings are gone.

well you're right.

But the reason cc even exist is that the majority of people don't have self control, nor can you manage their debt. You in the other hand sound like you're making a business out of using cc's

Thats because that way the company makes a shitload more money than paying to Visa or MC.

Here in Peru, Ripley is the biggest offender. Fuck those filthy Chileans and their high as shit rates, at least Saga Falabella did the right thing and turned itsrlf into a bank.

>So I was recently approved for a gamestop credit card

Out of all the credit cards you could of gotten, you picked one with one of the highest apr out there.

You're a fucking idiot.

I'm 26. I got an auto loan two years ago (0.0% [no interest] for 48 months) and they said I had better credit than many people twice my age.

Credit cards are tools. Use them right, they reap rewards. Use them wrong, you suffer the consequences.

(Most of the utilization is for work related travel that I get reimbursed for, points/cashback are mine to keep, pay the bills in full each month.)

>could of

Youre the fucking idiot. Youre also a pathetic low income piece of trash loser. You think you have any right to talk to people about credit cards, little bitch?

I may not have the best grammar out there but at least I didn't get a GameStop Credit Card.

>tools

wow being this delusional about finance

cc's are to get people in debt bottom line or the major emergencies, but even then they're meant to make you pay interest. If they give you any rewards it's because the banks or making money off of you.

0.0% = i call that paying cash

>If they give you any rewards it's because the banks or making money off of you.
They do make money off of me.

I doubt a moron like you could qualify for a $50 payday loan.

>having a credit card

enjoy your debt, and penalty fees for not even using the fucking thing

here
submitted that post early

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interchange_fee
>Interchange fee is a term used in the payment card industry to describe a fee paid between banks for the acceptance of card based transactions. Usually it is a fee that a merchant's bank (the "acquiring bank") pays a customer's bank (the "issuing bank"); however there are instances where the interchange fee is paid from the issuer to acquirer, often called reverse interchange.

valuepenguin.com/interchange-fees-na-vs-eu

It's typically 2-4% in the US, although it depends on the card processor, the type of merchant, the volume they have, the card network itself (Visa/Mastercard cheaper than DIscover/Amex generally), and the type of card (Visa at least charges higher interchange for credit cards that provide rewards).

>. If they give you any rewards it's because the banks or making money off of you.
No shit, stupid. They make money off the transaction. God youre fucking dumb.

>penalty fee for not using a credit card
>any card out there that isn't for someone with a 450 fico score and had declared bankruptcy 5 times

You could just apply for cards that don't have 'penalty fees for not using them'. Because there aren't any out there I know of that even do.

>minimun payments.

Fuck. Listen mate, never pay only the minimun amount. It will bite you right back in the fucking ass.

As I work in the customer complies department, Ive seen shit cases that had massive debts (we are talking of an entire two years of paychecks here) where the interests skyrocketed the original minimal debt into a clustdrfuck of a snowball of cash.

The min. payment option is there only in case og an emergency. Try to pay your entire amount monthly. Also, try to not use the card as an account, retiring any extra money you have in there at the moment of cancellation is a big headache, and Ive seen cases where any leftovers money in a CC dissapeared due to the monthly insurance taking it over, unallowing the card to be canceled and generating more interests.

Just a friendly tip from a bankfag, user.

oh no i wasnt implying i was making minimum payments, just saying thats what mine is. i usually just jam $200 or so at it every 2 weeks and call it good as long as im not above around 25% credit utilization, in that case i pay more.

Penalty fees are only generated when theres something you still have to pay for.

The most common case by far that Ive seen is that a penalty is generated for the commision of delivering you a physical EECC (dont know the name in English but its the paper where you see how much you have to pay that month).

Thats enterely the customers fault for being a retard and for not telling the bank to send that shit online.

The bank never loses mate.

why did you get a gamestop CC that only gives you rewards on games?

You could have gotten a VISA that gives you rewards on everything

What would you suggest in my position? Some of my shit hasn't had minimums on it for years because student loans threaten me the month I don't pay them.

>paying in cash
According to the US Department of Homeland Security, you are highly suspicious and weird. Enjoy gitmo.

youtube.com/watch?v=yDBy8qSiXSU

>GameStop credit card

Why not get a ACTUAL useful card? The only reason to have credit card is to build credit history for a future house loan and the perks it offers.

You could have had a gas credit card and saved money on gas
You could have had a target card and save 5% on everything
You could have had a card that offers travel miles for a vacation

But you chose fucking GameStop

LOL?!??
