Im just so damned tired of having the Council interrupt my scanning every five seconds, to tell me about some god dam suicide mission that will inevitably end up killing all my troops, while also forcing me to go and scan for some supplies at the same time.
Im tired of rookies being utterly fucking worthless, and the stupid RNG gear for everything, meaning that im constantly being out tech'd.
Im tired of my troops missing every other shot, meanwhile the aliens come in twice the numbers, and are just as strong, or even stronger than my veteran troops.
Im tired of loosing my whole squad in one turn, due to Vipers and Sectoids. Im also tired of the bullshit project avatar doomsday count down forcing me to throw away half my shit and my troops, just to stop the inevitable.
This whole game is bullshit. Fuck it, the aliens can have earth.
Christian Lopez
git gud
Austin Anderson
I tried. I played on Veteran difficulty, ironman, and I just kept loosing and loosing and loosing.
I mean, if the AI wasnt so utterly retarded, there simply wouldnt be any competition. They would thrash me the moment that stealth turned off.
Isaac Nguyen
Calm down OP. Lower the difficulty if you want geeez faggot chill.
Anthony Jackson
It's a shit game.
Connor Williams
XCOM 2 is way easier than XCOM 2012, what the fuck are you doing nigger?
Henry Scott
>I played on Veteran difficulty, ironman, and I just kept loosing and loosing and loosing. First of all, it's spelled "losing" with oneo.
Second, if you can't gid gud, just start at a babby difficulty and turn it up once you learn how to play.
Dylan Bailey
>can't even spell losing >waaaaaah it's the games fault
Alexander Walker
>Veteran difficulty, ironman Your own fault. That's just eggsgom, babby
Joseph Barnes
OP raises legitimate points.
My troops are ALWAYS one step in technology behind Advent. It's fucking scripted.
Doomsday clock is fucking bullshit, how can I get anything done when there is this nagging shit constantly harassing you?
Enemies are such bullshit that my troops are always at disadvantage, no matter how advanced I am.
This bullshit from previous game where aliens move TWICE when they fucking see you? FUCK THIS. FUCK.
Ah, finally I can get some resources to make new weap- HOLY SHIT COUNCIL AND ITS SUICIDE MISSION.
Fuck this game.
Jeremiah Lewis
No one ever said that it was a perfect game.
I personally just savescum to avoid any of the frustrations since I have a hard time taking strategy games seriously unless they're polished enough.
William Morales
>He couldn't even beat the game on Veteran!
Someone get me a laughingADVENTgirls.jpg picture, so I can properly display my scorn for this loser.
The only hard bit about XCOM2 is the time limits.
William Smith
>My troops are ALWAYS one step in technology behind Advent. It's fucking scripted. You're playing as partisans/terrorists, so it's somewhat selfexplanatory. >how can I get anything done when there is this nagging shit constantly harassing you? >Ah, finally I can get some resources to make new weap- HOLY SHIT COUNCIL AND ITS SUICIDE MISSION. 90% of that is optional and gives you rewards >Enemies are such bullshit that my troops are always at disadvantage, no matter how advanced I am. See above >This bullshit from previous game where aliens move TWICE when they fucking see you? FUCK THIS. FUCK. Granted
Anthony Brown
It's a shit game with shit design. Instead of presenting real difficulty that you can mitigate with good play, they lean on RNG and "FUCK YOU FOR SUCCEEDING" scripting. Original XCOM was ruthless, but could be gamed hard enough to succeed and eventually gain a slight upper hand after starting with a massive disadvantage. Reboot XCOMs have it set up so that you have no agency at all over the larger situation.
There are situations where you cannot succeed, and that's just shit game design pulled right out of casual rogue-lites so that people who suck at games can feel like it's not really their fault they lost.
Nicholas Jones
>My troops are ALWAYS one step in technology behind Advent. It's fucking scripted.
Then you aren't getting enough Scientists, or you're wasting time doing autopsies you don't need. You start off at a disadvantage, so prioritize Mag weapons and Pred armour once you've got the basic communication techs unlocked. That puts you a step above ADVENT (which makes it a good time to do the Blacksite mission), but they'll catch up a month or so later. Then once you get Plasma weapons and Power armour, you leap in front of them again, and they never really catch you after that.
Late-game XCOM is a joke. Sectopods go down like they're Mutons.
Adrian Peterson
Turn off ironman you fool. You're obviously not good enough to do it. No judgment because I'm still playing through the first time and have had to load a few different times to avoid a game over state.
You have more time than you think on the Avatar timer. Hit the black site when it is almost full and it'll remove 3-4 pips from the timer. Take out a facility and it will also remove a few, depending on the difficulty.
Just know that most missions are optional, even council missions. You don't have to do all of them.
Also if your squads are getting killed by sectoids and vipers you're going to have a bad time as the game progresses. Bring 2 grenadiers, 1 ranger, 1 sharpshooter, 1 specialist and 1 random. If you don't have the squad size upgrades then you're fucking up. Abuse the grenade launchers and flash bangs to nullify sectoids and vipers.
Start over on veteran, turn off iron man. Beat the game before you try iron man.
Cameron Gray
>Late-game XCOM is a joke >tfw running a six man team entirely made of Psionics/Grenadiers
Sharpshooters are garbage, especially in a game where you really need to be constantly advancing. You want two Grenadiers for removing cover and armour, Two Rangers (at least one geared for stealth), one hacking Specialist, and one more of your choice.
Kevin Harris
Everyone in this thread needs to get good. If you have a basic grasp of strategy/tactics concepts you can finish legendary ironman without issue. The only "hard" part is early on where you MIGHT lose some troops. Rush plasma grenades and it's GG, 3 rangers, 3 grenadiers, nothing stands a chance.
Luis Collins
>Bring 2 grenadiers, 1 ranger, 1 sharpshooter, 1 specialist and 1 random. Bad advice. Six grenadiers (or 5 grenadiers plus 1 specialist for hacking missions) is the name of the game
Anthony Thomas
>no one points out that in XCOM 2 the tactical depth is all but gone compared to EW
Parker White
What, because you can't bluemove+overwatch every turn to victory?
Jaxon Gonzalez
Maybe you should tighten it up, buddy
Jaxon Williams
You actually have a lot more time in regards to project avatar than you think.
The game tries to trick you can into thinking it's super important, which is kind of true bit it's not an IMMEDIATE threat. That's the trick.
You can put the avatar project off by riding the wave so to speak, letting it fill up and pushing it back when you need to do it.
Buys you vital time to focus on other stuff. It's similar to satellites in the first game. Important to plan for and can't be ignored, but is also can be put aside for a while.
Actually come to think of it it's worse in the first game because without that panic level management the game can very rapidly turn to shit on you.
Levi Jackson
>90% of that is optional and gives you rewards Yeah, but it also impacts on your end of the month supply drop; So if I dont do each and every mission, I get screwed over anyways
Owen Evans
>sharpshooters are garbage >he has never rolled a pistolier capable of wiping enemy pods with only a single grenade for support
You're missing out.
Evan Morales
I got the mod that removed the dumb squadsight penalty and never looked back.
You can literally ignore the doomsday clock until the very end as long as you have access to a way to remove a pip.
As far as troops go killing threats or neutralizing before they can attack is key. I pretty much always rush magnetic weapons because it makes things way easier even with rookies. You can get them faster than you think if you buy the rush from the black market.
Nathaniel Ross
It hasn't, it's just that XCOM gets overpowered far too early. Once you're up to tier 2 armour and lieutenants you're nigh untouchable. Hopefully aliens will get buffed in the expansion pack.
Mason Harris
if you don't see how binary the gameplay feels now you just haven't played enough xcom. you're literally pigeon-holed into a playstyle, all your options are gone. don't kill that pod on activation? you're dead. want to get creative and flank someone? too bad, enemy is now extra suicidal and will fuck you over. and who in the hell thought having the majority of your encounters be ADVENT is in any way fun?
Camden Rogers
>if you don't see how binary the gameplay feels now you just haven't played enough xcom tell me about it
Tyler Jenkins
>that fucking base defense mission Jesus christ
Jason Allen
>people find xcom 2 hard What the fuck. Sup Forums truly are utter casuals.
Christopher Wright
You're really, REALLY bad
Jackson Johnson
I give XCOM 2 much more respect because unlike the first game I have had situations where I've had to cut my losses and make a sacrifice or two in order to get ahead.
>Tfw you leave a good unit behind to distract the enemy so your other guys and the VIP can make it to the drop zone in time.
Brayden Taylor
>Stealth ranger moves in sight of relay >Squadsight snipers kill relay >other soldiers sit near base wow so hard xD
Bentley Mitchell
Git gud Also bring more grenades There's no way you should get out teched, you can beat the game with
Evan Cook
Speaking of neo-xcom is there any mod's out there that make it more gear focused instead of unit/xp focused?
I want to replay them but FUCK getting your best units killed off and being stuck up shit creak for the rest of the game
Brandon White
>Also bring more grenades The end all be all of xcom advice
Ethan Davis
Woolie? That you?
Charles Walker
>sharpshooters are garbage U wot You enjoy your extra ranger while I enjoy my sharpshooter that can shoot >5 times a turn
Carter Reyes
There is a mod for XCOM 2 that drops randomised gear into packages you spend research time into. Meaning you invest time and could potentially get something really useful but have to sacrifice research time. I quite like it.
Kevin Jackson
I got it super-early with not much research into weaponry. I savescummed myself into a corner where I was guaranteed to lose at least 3 units.
Thomas Wright
>tfw high level gunslinger sniper
Hudson James
>ranger with serial from awc
Adam Watson
>Tfw you send the gunslinger in after your two grenade bois blow all their health down to low digits.
Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew
Logan Davis
>not just sending 6 grenadiers
Jonathan Baker
Intimidation tactic.
Leo Taylor
>bringing 6 grenadiers on a mission in an advent city >loads of race traitor civilians getting into the line of fire My fucking dick
Isaac Scott
You all know that the XCOM 2 is Turn-based strategy? This game requires patience, not the reaction. Predict enemys moves, be ready to counter some critical situations and create your own strategy, not just "rush and kill it with fire"
Lucas Smith
Gatecrasher (first mission when you disable tutorial) is the only "hard" part because it's distilled RNG with ~60% aim rookies and no abilities or equipment.
Beyond that it's pretty much Alpha Strike: The Game, and the difficulty actually decreases in a very linear fashion the further in you get. Stop playing like a shitter.
Matthew Bailey
>not just "rush and kill it with fire" That works in 95% of the missions though
Julian Baker
> six man psionics > dominate all the enemy hard targets for free meatshields > then rape anything left alive with a bazillion abiltities that deal true damage and stuns psionics are honestly just broken, i think a single fully trained psionic could solo kill any alien pod.
I find that once i hit that point where you have full plasma weps and armor + colonols, the game is "over" and everything after that is just clean up time.
Jackson Clark
>two psionics >grab the first two andromedons you find >faceroll Six psionics could probably solo an army
Anthony Roberts
This is so fucking true. I always have to reload too because if someone gets injured there's a hole in your team for a month.
