>soundtrack is paid dlc
>soundtrack costs more than the game
Thanks River City

Holy fucking shit I hope you like having chocolate on your fingers you dumb whore
name 3 games that do this
>the disc doesn't have the full OST, and is missing most of the good songs
thanks, FATLUS
>soundtrack comes with Day One version of game
>tracks aren't complete and/or missing sections
>have to wait until people put complete versions online
Jackie Chan
>game comes with a free rootkit
Life gives you a rootkit make rootbeer.
This was such fucking bullshit.
>soundtrack is paid DLC
>buy it
>extract soundtracks to somewhere else on your computer
>refund it
what is the point of having the soundtrack as paid dlc
i bought the game, and now you're trying to jew me off the soundtrack?
>"b-but, you're supporting the musicians!!"
oh fuck off, they get their money's worth off me buying the game
Jej
>soundtrack makes the game cost twice as much as it would otherwise.
are you retarded? Musicians may only get 10% of a game's sales if they are lucky. They get 90% of the soundtrack sales.
underrated post
>Soundtrack costs extra, but
>Navigate through the game folders and the soundtrack is all there in ogg format
Why do we never see soundtrack musicians doing work outside of vidya? That guy who did the Hitman soundtracks was good, he could release an album or two and tout them as "by the musician who wrote the Hitman theme" or something.
>all the music files are already in the game
>hey goy why don't you pay again for stuff you already have?
...
...
>soundtrack dosent work in offline mode
Can you please learn how to spell doughnut?
>Buy first Atlus game
>"Come with free CD inside!"
>It's a "sampler" with five songs
That's when I learned that pre-orders were a mistake.
>soundtrack is bigger than the game
What bitrate do those tracks run at?
>what are accepted variants

A Realm Reborn
Final Fantasy XIII-2

We don't generally get any percentage of game sales. We get a salary.
A lot of Japanese composers rely on soundtrack sales as a large part of their income.
Ds3 was the worst offender of this
Fucking giving me 1/2 of gundyrmania's soundtrack
Dead Bits
Does NeoTokyo count?
Pirated Undertale
FINAL FANTASY XIII
Game: $15.99 - store.steampowered.com
Soundtrack: $24.99 - itunes.apple.com
It's ass, but it's the same exact files you hear while playing the game, so it's authentic.
I'm curious if the soundtrack you buy is the same quality or what.
All Square-Enix titles. Heh.
I wanna that dog.
Wait, aren't all OSTs on youtube or something? Why would someone pay for digital music, i dun get it
who the fuck just eats a big bar of chocolate like that? who even makes those
Audio quality is shit.
...
Only people with terminal autism listen to OSTs outside of the game
The retail soundtrack is most definitely of a higher bitrate. The developers compress the soundtrack as much as reasonably possible to keep the size and loading times to a minimum. Since you're more focused on the game and there's other SFX mixed in, you're less likely to notice the quality than say, if you were listening to the music outside of the game so that gives them breathing space to compress the soundtrack more.
>chocolate bar is designed to be broken into pieces
>bitch is just taking a big bite out of the corner
I'm fucking triggered
I listen to game soundtracks to help me develop my writing projects. They've helped me a whole lot.
>on her own
Jesus Priest, the egocentrism of that person never ceases to amaze.
I wanna pet that dog
Hey look, the samefag playing pretend. What's the matter, that one MGS2 thread got removed?
>game's soundtrack is sold on two CDs
>one CD was sold physical only in only certain shops in japan
>the other was available digital-only
>it is impossible to find them both
>Wait, aren't all OSTs on youtube or something?
Audio on YouTube is of a lower quality, but the fact that they're videos makes them a lot larger than the audio files. You're downloading music the size of WAV files with the quality of low-end MP3s. Waste of bandwidth.
>Why would someone pay for digital music, i dun get it
A lot of the game soundtracks I buy are from independent musicians. I like the fact that I'm supporting their artwork, and getting it legitimately is easy on my conscience.
>Soundtrack is paid dlc
>It's not even the full soundtrack
>game advertises "OST sample" as a pre-order bonus
>it's literally only ONE song from the OST that the player gets for pre-ordering
I fucking hate you
>70kbps
>cookie = My dick
>woman = ur waife
>soundtrack is just in the game's files
>none of the songs even have proper titles, most of the names are just notes and potential locations for each song to be used
Christ I love Hylics.

What if I make music for video games?
Then you have terminal autism.
Is that the best response you can muster up after having your retarded bait flipped around to reveal you as a fucking moron?
Pathetic
You can't make music without listening to it, therefore you're listening to video game music outside of the game, you have terminal autism and the fact that I have to spoonfeed this to you only enforces it.
>soundtrack is a rap
>made specifically for the game
>lyrics mention different parts of the game
>dis gon be good
I don't really see why it's such an evil thing to give people the option to give money to support an artist.

He's right tho, you illiterate faggot
>PC game has a digital soundtrack which is sold separately
>My face when I simply access the sound folders from the game
technically speaking, it always is. Just extract the files.
Go listen to to Jak X Combat Racing OST and rethink your statement
Is it wrong to rip the music from the game if they're selling the soundtrack separately? Assume you legally bought the game, and the developer got the money for it without any trouble.
no, if theyre stupid enough to just plant them in an "audio" folder in the install directory or dont down sample the tracks during the gameplay go nuts
>the days when cereal came with age of empires 1
No. Why would you buy something you own twice?
>Jak x
Far too generic for me.
Not always. Sometimes they're packed in an unknown format and there isn't an unpacker tool publicly available.
And then there's the case for Undertale where some of the ingame music was slightly sped up or slowed down from the source file for whatever inexplicable reason.
>download code for the official soundtrack digitally is only 20 songs long
>soundtrack rip is over 100 songs
Wasn't this a big meme back in 2012? My memory is very shitty.
Every PS1 game was also it own OST though if you have an extremely old CD player then track 1 (the game data) may ruin the speakers. I wish this was still true ad realistically the music files is already on your computer/console if it is a digital download.
I remember someone saying that toby purposely sped up certain tracks to keep the game's tone a secret during he later parts of the game. Like the music during Asriel's ending fight. Also, the "song that might play when you fight sans" was a red herring to throw off people.
I legally own the soundtracks of the games i buy and will never pay separately for them anyway.
This is how I feel about it. It's not like pirating a game just to see if you like it. I already legally own the product, so why pay again for it?
It's the opposite actually, lossless is easier to load. There is no extra encoding.
Like some games do, they don't have the ending nor the start of the OST.
>Getting your fingers dirty with melted chocolate.
I was gonna bitch about this but I realise that's sexy with girlish fingers.
What about music that is in some weird sequenced MIDI-like format? How will you extract that into something playable?
>preorder game online from the states to get bonus art book
>in Canada just the game alone is the price of the game/artbook in the states
>mfw artbook might as well have been free
This dumb fucking thread makes me want to buy a big novelty chocolate and eat it as meal alone.

>Game only has low quality Music files in the game so you have to wait for the CD to come out so you can listen to the OST
