>implying games don't age
Why is Two Towers so shit then? I loved it as a kid but it's almost unplayable now. Return of the King is a bit better but I wouldn't say I enjoyed playing it.
I poured probably hundreds of hours on these games but now I gave up less than hour in with both of them.
The Warriors is shit too.
Implying games don't age
I really only played Two Towers. I played RotK I think maybe once. Nostalgia makes me love TT.
I remember the Return of the King game came out before the movie did and I got it for Christmas and I was so excited. Ah.
Hey anyone remember that Lord of The Rings game that was just a reskinned Star Wars Battlefront? What was that called and does it still hold up?
I think it was called Conquest? I remember trying the demo and actually liked it but just forgot it completely.
That's Conquest and it didn't have vehicles obviously but could have had the elephants, horses, and wargs. You get heroes, trolls, and ents instead.
If you've played a Pandemic game before you know they are the b-game masters, I personally liked Conquest so it's worth playing at least for archers if you love Battlefront.
I got given it on DS. Can't speak for the proper versions but I enjoyed the DS one. Although it has to be said I've played flash games that were made better than this was. Can't believe it was worth £30 when it came out
The psp version of Battlefront 2 and Renegade Squadron was pretty good. Didn't even know there was a ds version of Conquest but I can't imagine it being good.
That Thor game for ds was supposedly better than the console versions so I hear if this is a movie games thread.
Movie games have this weird ability to capture kids, in my experience at least. Phantom Menace on PS1 is up there with my all time favourites. If you want to talk about badly aging movie games though Star Wars has some amazing examples.
If I had been 5 years younger when I played Conquest, I might have enjoyed it more.
Holy shit me too, that game was awesome. It's sad that I couldn't get pass the droidikas though.
Best not be talking shit about my Battlefront 1&2 or Republic Commando nigger.
Hardest level was Captain Panaka on Coruscant by far for me. Best levels were when the game goes full RPG unexpectedly on Tatooine.
I used to mess around with the game a lot. Turns out that if you are insanely lucky, you can deflect Maul's red force lightning with your sabre in the final level and it did huge damage if you got it to hit him. So hard to pull off though.
Actually Power Battles is what came to mind first. Brilliant game but it's too clunky for me to enjoy anymore. You just listed three of the best games from the franchise. I lost so many hours to BF1&2
I played RC for the first time about a year ago. Honestly can't really think of anything positive about it.
My theory is that people thought those squad "mechanics" were some hot shit during release but they don't hold up at all.
Games do age. There is almost no reason to play a lot of playstation 1 games. The early 3D adventures, FPS games, driving games etc have very little going for them.
What's your favourite FPS?
Same about playing it recently for first time but I loved it all the way through apart from the infinitely respawn fuckers.
I can play GTA VC perfectly fine but shooting in 3 and how fragile cars are almost make 3 a chore to replay.
Can't really pick a favourite but the squad mechanics are way too simplistic in RC. SWAT 4, Brothers in Arms and R6 Vegas have rather basic commands too but they work a lot better than RC.
It had a lot of little things that made it for me. The melee attack was fun if a little useless, your visor clearing off geonosian gunk and EMPing a Super Battle Droid. I can still hear the Zuhduhduhduhduh noise
I mean the squad commands weren't exactly why most people like that game.
You spend half the game away from your squad anyway. It was really only there to give a gameplay vehicle to the squad interaction that made up the meat and potatoes of the story.
>mfw I never beat Darth Maul at the end of Phantom Menace for PS1
>mfw I will never rescue that trooper I left behind in Republican Commando
The Warriors is still pretty damn fun once in a while I will play co op with my brother just like in the good old days.
best lotr console game coming through
