A kid's game
Fun.
You're in for a good time.
Be sure to play them in order.
Don't be put off by the huge jump from 1 to 2, they're still great games.
Lots of fun
Absolute dog shit
and then a little fun
If you've ever played an open world game before, do yourself a favor and skip Renegade.
3>1>2
1 is a short and by the numbers collectathon, but highly polished and fairly replayable.
2 and 3 are Ratchet meets GTA but it's not nearly as fun as that sounds. There are still some good platforming levels so it's worth one playthrough at least.
Fun, horse shit, fun again
pretty much this
What made them make the sequel so different? Was the first game a failure?
Nah they just wanted to try new shit but they ended up trying TOO much new shit and as a result the game was just an absolute mess with random difficulty spikes everywhere
I beat Jak 2 at the age of 10 so if you quit on that game based on the difficulty alone just remember that a 10 year old is better than you
GTA was really popular user....
ND wanted to move on to edgier stuff back then. The first was very crash like so they tweaked the sequel to change things up
10 year old me was way better at video games than 26 year old me, so that doesn't really mean anything.
There's more to a game than how difficult it is.
That's why I said on difficulty alone. If he quits for other reasons then that's fine.
It was the early 00s. Edgy was in and so was GTA.
I don't know how well they hold up, but I fucking loved these games at the time. Jak 1 is a fun little Mario 64 type collect-a-thon, and Jak 2 is the obvious product of a post-GTAIII industry. The tone, setting, and story shift dramatically, but it's still got a lot of charm. I really don't remember 3 all that well, aside from the fact that I beat the entire game in one sitting.
I got in to the series after getting hooked on Ratchet and Clank, then later on Sly Cooper, out of the three series Jak and Daxter is the weakest, but I still loved it.
You'll have fun if you can get over the PS2 era funk of slightly sloppy controls and camera angles.
I really want more games of this style to come out, fuck off with hyper realism and boring worlds.
They were in direct competition with Ratchet and Clank, and Sly Cooper. The other two were action platformers PLUS a little something special that made them stand out. GTA-lite is what Naughty Dog thought would be their thing.
I still liked it.
>2 is bad meme
please, it's the best in the series
I wish I was you rn desu sempai. those are some fun games and I only ever got to play a little bit as a kid. 2 is one of those games where I played the demo over and over. also
cah keys
I can't believe they did my nose like that... wow...
Do they run at 60fps?
>Edgy was in
my theory is that it was because of the wars america got itself into
yes
>tfw dualshock 4 isn't compatible with this game
fucking why
A worse experience than the first 3 R&C games.
No. 30fps cap, but generally few drops.
1 is a super fun, beautiful game
2 is the opposite
3 is meh
I know you're looking for (you)'s as you seem to be posting this in every thread
>It's worse than absolute solid gold
Yeah so is finding $20 on the ground.
The R&C trilogy is also on sale for the same price
One of the best platformers of all time, with fantastic atmosphere and level design.
As for two and three, meh. Basically GTA light with none of the magic Precursor legacy had.

Great games and a cool world. They're all good. Idk why 2 is considered bad on here
Because 1 was really tightly designed and 2 haphazardly bolted mechanics on without any thought to whether they'd work.
A great, if easy, 3D platformer
An edgy and ballbustingly hard gta-clone mixed with some platforming
And some weird hybrid between the 2 that's also Mad Max and has no idea what the fuck it wants to do with its story
>ballbustingly hard
Can this meme die already
R&C>Sly 2>J&D>Sly 1/3
This is true.
No. If you gave me a list of missions in Jak 2, I could randomly point at one and have a 50/50 chance that its harder than 90% of stuff in the 3D platformer genre.
