yea i wanted to save the little kiddies

lemme see you pop yo pussy lik dis donchu pop don't pop to the pop

No, Baron was worth more than a bunch of nameless little shits with like 1 minute of gametime. Also this game is terrible so it makes fuck all difference what you do in it. Your "choice" is never mentioned again.

No
Crones seemed like the lesser of the evils. They "protect" the inhabitants of no mans land. I know a little more about them than some shifty tree spirit sounding like its going to unleash high level druid armageddon if i set it free.

Why would it need to be mentioned again when you get a synopsis at the end of the questline?

Fuck crones that's why.

They force villagers to send away their innocent children to consume, they're the Baba Yaga's of Witcher.

In return for relative protection from bandits, monsters, other nasty shit

Yes.
There's no evidence the spirit in the tree is evil, other than the Crones' own words. And they're definitely evil themselves and quite obviously eat children.
The peasants of Downwarren are the Crones' servants, so all deaths the spirit might have caused to them was in self defence.

But the Druid went mad and started killing people, so they locked her spirit away. She then proceeds to slaughter an entire village after manipulating you.

They gave you a book describing what it was before sending you into the swamp.

my neck
my back

lick mah pussy aaand my crack

Again, that's what the Crones say. And the spirit was just taking revenge on her jailers. I guess, you can't call the spirit exactly benevolent, but its actions show that it's by far a lesser evil compared to the Crones.

>Your "choice" is never mentioned again
There's an orphanage in Novigrad where you can see the kids again if you saved them. There's also a note with their names that says they come from Velen.
You can't talk to them though, and if you didn't save them, there's a just bunch of other kids with random names.
There's a book, still not hard evidence though.

user they eat babies they are definitely evil. Do you seriously think you can trust what they say? They don't want her freed because she's competition.

>this kills the slav

>user they eat babies they are definitely evil. Do you seriously think you can trust what they say?
That's precisely what I've been saying. Did you even read my posts?
Even though the spirit attacks the village of crone-worshippers, it holds its end of the bargain and saves the children. Crones' reign of terror over Velen brought nothing but suffering and misery to the people living there.
Actually, I wonder what happened to the children, after being spirited away? They're orfans after all, so there's no one who could vouch for their safety after they disappeared from the Crones' "orphanage".

I just wanted to save children, and I'd never believe the word of people/monsters so god damn ugly

I may have skimmed them.

Release spirit before you go with Johnny back to Gran, after getting raven feather from the nest. You get to save both Baron and children.

They wind up in that Novigrad orphanage/school thing if you free the spirit.

Because fuck those witches. I figured I would get a chance to kill either of them at some point.

That's FALSE. I don't know who started this meme, but please stop spreading misinformation. If you free the spirit you doom the children. You cannot make a deal with the spirit to save them, because the Crones haven't taken them yet at this point, so you simply free the spirit for free. This is quite apparent from the dialogues you get if you do this, I don't know how you couldn't notice that.

They eat the children.

Well, that settles it then. Freeing the spirit is pretty much an objectively good choice.

Without the chicken legs!

i did because i wanted to see it do some dank evil shit

then i quit playing witcher 3 because the game sucks.

>rpg
>somehow makes it not fun to find equipment

a+++ game design kids

Yes, because I'm a hipster and always sympathize with the odd one out

No.
>why
I'm not a liberal so I don't fall for honey tongued monsters.

Yea I don't remember it well, but I thought the crones were assholes from the start so had to let the tree spirit go. and it was good choice Crones didn't get to kill the kids so that a good thing.

>somehow makes it not fun to find equipment
This I basically kept my starting witcher gear because it looked better than any of the shit I found or crafted

It was actually possible at some point, I think.
The game assumed you did everything in the correct order so even if chidren weren't mentioned in dialogue they'd get rescued.
It's been patched long since though.

No, because the Crones are the lesser of two evils. Also, the tree is the mother of the Crones. Ain't fucking with that.

I don't want to lose the Baron, either.

Should have been option to hill everyone.

>the Crones are the lesser of two evils.

how can you be this easily manipulated

>Crones are the lesser of two evils
the ones who literally want to eat some of your daughteru before giving the rest to the wild hunt? are you even cereal?

>I don't want to lose the Baron, either.
His death is what his own decisions in life ultimately led to.
The orphans of the bog simply haven't sinned so much in their life yet to deserve such a horrible end.

Does it really matter who even is the lesser one? You're approaching this from the wrong angle entirely. Releasing the tree spirit doesn't kill the crones, it inconveniences them and saves half a dozen orphans, but kills an entire village, including all children that inhabit it. And that's just in the first hour. God knows what else it'll do later.

That's the equation you ought to be making.

>but kills an entire village

You're approaching this from the wrong angle too. It's not just any "random ordinary innocent" village. It had strong reasons to kill that particular village, it's wrong to assume that it'll keep doing the same thing to other villages.

> You're approaching this from the wrong angle entirely.

no i'm not buddy
i didn't release the spirit to save some shit-face kids i couldn't give two fucks about- i'm a witcher, i've seen hundreds of kids die in front of me and even been killed by one
i released the spirit because the Crones locked it up, and I fucking hate the Crones and want to do anything I can to inconvenience them
besides, it's not like the lives of a bunch of peasants matter in any way
if it wasn't the tree spirit, it would've been one army or another who ended up destroying their shit village

>an entire village
There were like five houses.
>including all children
I don't remember there even being any children in Downwarren. And I definitely don't remember seeing any child bodies after the rampage.

Even the alderman, the Crones' closest agent in the village, survived. The spirit just busted some old shacks and took off.

Oh yes, the villagers who were frolicking around the tree were just killed en masse because they threatened the existence of the tree spirit.

The villagers listen to the crones by necessity, it's a hard living.

That's even fucking worse. I'm not even going to argue this point, doing everything possible, even releasing evil upon the world, just to inconvenience another entity is downright atrocious.

>Your "choice" is never mentioned again.

Like what, should the kids help you fight the Wild Hunt if you saved them?

I know people are sick of choices not really mattering in games but some of you are on the complete polar opposite and believe your choices should matter for everything that happens later in the game.

>The villagers listen to the crones by necessity, it's a hard living.
Should have left the shithole and booked.

I fucked it. The only thing releasing was me, in it.

No.
There is no real lesser evil between Chrones and their Mother, both are evil but the spirit is more dangerous on the long run since it would be only a matter of time before she would have killed the Chrones.
The kids death is tragic but you can't save everyone.

Naturally I explored the crones' house and saw the satanic altar in the basement. That's when I decided not to trust those bitches.

Spirit shared my view about the crones so I decided to help her out.

YOU EAT BABIES!

WE EAT

BERRIES

AND MUSHROOMS YOU FOOL

The spirit of course :-
-The baron is a drunkard who beats his wife
-His wife is a cheater who caused everything upon them
-His wife literally killed her daughter so she won't have another child from the baron
-Their daughter is with the eternal meme cult so she deserves shit
-The crones tried to hurt Ciri
-The crones eat kids and body parts from villagers
-The crones made the villager attack the spirit so they can have everything to themselves

>Listened to the Crones by necessity.

How do we know they didn't make the troubles they were having to begin with? They are only interested in the children, so why is it so far fetched that they'd create an issue to get a shipment of kids?
