Hey should i Start playing WoW?
Is it still any good?
I love the worlds atmosphere and that there is lore around every corner but i have this weird feeling that i missed the best parts of the game.
Also general WoW thread
WoW
No, legion is boring
which sounds better: you're a small part of a big world with lots going on, with a difficult early game that teaches you how to play, followed by a pretty grindy endgame with lots of raids but bosses which are relatively simple; or you're a big deal that tons of people know about in-game, with a completely meaningless early game but a well fleshed-out endgame that consists of a decent amount of grinding and some pretty complicated and difficult bosses
i'll add that the former focuses more on creating an interesting and immersive experience and the latter focuses more on being a technically interesting and fun game
I personally think both has its advantages. What i most like about the first case you mentioned is that it creates the feeling that your not this hero who is the only one that can safe the world instead you are a adventure who travels to remote places. But since im a fan if pve and raids i think it wouldn't fit comoletely. But the second options is also quiet nice but i also like a great leveling experience where every piece of equip feels like you really had to fight its a nice feeling when you finally reach a certain level. But fleshed out endgame content will be the only thing to do after you leveled.i cant really decide
In this case i have to go with the immersive experience
>i have this weird feeling that i missed the best parts of the game.
you did. don't let that discourage you though, legion is shaping up to be the best expansion since wotlk
the former thing i was describing was vanilla; nostalrius/elysium is coming out (again) in a month or two with three realms: the old pvp nost realm with all the characters and same progression from the one that shut down, the old pve nost realm with the same but from the old pve realm, and a new pvp realm that's going to start from scratch and work its way through progression. it's also free, so that's a plus. they also said they won't comply with takedown requests this time. ofc, they could be lying, or their servers could go kaput or something. the raiding in vanilla isn't THAT bad, it's just nowhere near as good as it is right now. also, the later vanilla raids were arguably a lot better than the earlier ones; blizzard learned a lot in a short time about how to make interesting content. the nost/elysium project basically starts from how things were when vanilla came out and releases the content on about the same timetable as it released originally, so there's a sense of progression.
blizzard also said they might release legacy servers at some point themselves.
also, pre-nerf alterac valley was really one of a kind.
the latter thing is wow as it currently is with legion. the leveling experience is just a chore you get out of the way, it's not meaningful in any way, as everything it teaches you can be (and is) taught adequately in either the proving grounds or in the class trial intro sequence. however, dungeons and raids are really well-designed for the most part, and the multiple difficulty levels let you learn how to do that content while still giving you something to work for. it's a really well designed GAME, but not as well-designed an EXPERIENCE. it doesn't give me "feels" like vanilla did.
wait for crowfall
Don't. Play something else.
Try playing on an RP server one time my mang
i actually just rolled on argent dawm about a week ago. i'm still leveling, though, and the old zones are still very, very dead.
wait for vanilla private servers n shit
Op here
Also is it hard to find people to play wow with? Since all the guys i usully play other games with are playing alliance but i like the Horde way more.
Bzw. Which faction are you?
old alterac was amazing. waiting in queue for over 6 hours to join a game that was to be decided over 8 hours after. constant fighting over graveyards and killing a tower was a huge deal. low levels grinding for resources to shift the tide.
shit was great, and the quest rewards were amazing
unstoppable force man
>is it hard to find people to play wow with?
vanilla: no, the game basically forces you to communicate and build relationships with people. you'll find a guild doing the same content as you and get involved with them pretty quickly.
legion: it's hard to find a guild that's worth a damn, and any guild that you're not actively doing similar content to is probably not going to care about you. this is a lot harder if you're a niche role that isn't in demand because every guild already has their fill of them. once you actually do find people to do content with, though, you're usually set until the guild falls apart or you quit. unless you're a drama whore or something.
>Since all the guys i usully play other games with are playing alliance but i like the Horde way more.
check and see if your friends actually do the same kind of content that you'd want to do and at the same level, and if they have a spot open for you if you reach max level and get decently geared and learn your spec. otherwise, just go with whatever you want. i rolled horde because all my friends played horde back in cata when i started and none of them ever ended up playing with me until about a month ago, when by pure coincidence i transferred to the same realm as my coworker. but he's way behind me in terms of progress (he just does lfr for the most part), so i still barely play with him even though we're same guild now.
>not still doing LFR For those dank runes and being able to give the loot you don't need to friends
it's like you don't even care about money or helping people
my friend is already geared, he's just one of many people who doesn't want to bother with higher difficulty content. i got him to come with me on a normal EN raid once and he had a blast, but he's never taken me up any other time i've offered to carry him (i'm 5/7 h and 2/3 n right now, guild is 4/7 h and 2/3 n, and i'm a tank, so i could easily help carry him through normal en).
as far as money, there are plenty of ways to make money that are much faster and much less annoying than carrying retards and afkers. about the only real compelling reason i'd have to grind lfr is titanforged gear, but honestly i'd rather just do world quests or just not bother altogether. it's not worth it for me to do things in the game that aren't at least moderately enjoyable, and lfr is just a headache.
You can always carry me if you want to, I still have yet to do a normal raid because I can't find any.
I'm iLvl 843 and Alliance
you'd have to faction swap, my highest level alliance character is 92 or something
>I can't find any.
also, check premade groups > legion raids. look for ones that say fresh or nyth to start with. they'll take anyone for nyth and dragons, and usually ursoc too as long as you follow directions. that's how i broke into heroic before i had a guild; i joined heroic nyth raids and stayed until they decided to kick me because my ilvl was too low.
Right now it's pretty bad. The first time you level a character to 110, finish up all of the story quests, get your tradeskills up, and get your artifact level up is kind of fun but the end game right now is awful. I can't even force myself to run emerald nightmare anymore and getting karazhan runs together that aren't shit is pretty rough.
When I get to this point in the expansion I usually PvP or level alts neither of which really are a thing anymore. Alts are hard as fuck to level.
There is quite a bit of early game content though like I said so that might be worth buying it but once you get to end game you are going to be unsubscribing for awhile.
not unless you have a time machine
nu-WoW sucks dick, its the most boring game ever until max level, and at max the raiding is fun with friends, but the pvp sucks. Wait for nostalrius
Currently 5/7M right now and I can say it's okay I guess. Legends present a huge problem in that a lot of classes are balanced around their BIS legend and there is no way to get it specifically. Even worse is that if you do finally get it there's a chance your legend or your spec will get nerfed for overperforming like fire mages are and then you will be super boned because you have a lego for a shit spec now. I you play tank or healer though you're safe because blizz never really seems to nerf them for pve.
you're like 10+ years late don't bother
