I understand why he's hated, but underaged people who didn't play FF7 until years later didn't realize both how revolutionary he was in FF but in JRPGs in general. He's a bit whinier in AC, but he's still godtier in CC and looking like he'll be good in the remake.

It's helped by Steve Burton being fucking GOTY tier, this is the first time I'm ACTUALLY looking forward to voice acting being added.

Don't. 2 is an abortion of a game that makes into anime tier garbage. There's basically a perfect route in the game, like Persona 4 tier, and the only good thing about it is the gameplay. If you're looking for a story or route as good as Naoya's 8th day or Amane's 8th day, you won't find it.

Geralt isn't really god-tier though. He's a tremendous jobber that got precious little done if we look at the bigger picture. Most of the things he involved himself with he managed to fuck up. That makes him an interesting character from a literary point of view (hurr), but not a god tier videogame protagonist.
